Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much. I wasn't sure if people would get that joke or not haha. But it was funny in my messed up mind so I put it in there haha.
You made this look easy and kinda fun. I stopped doing my own auto repair years ago, but I would love to try this with my grandson if the need ever arises.
Love your Bronco my man, wanted to drop in and show some love from the great republic of Texas. Your video helped tremendously! My pry bars wouldn’t cut it, so I used a medium punch and a 5 lb sledge to get the aggression of the broken axle, and the axle itself out 😊 made sure the punch was as straight as possible so not to stress the diff and she popped right out
You don’t need to remove the lower ball joint. Remove the sway bar link and upper ball joint turn the wheel all the way to the side and tap out the axle.
Awesome video. have a Bronco on order so watching a ton of videos while it gets here. Would it be safe to say a possible reason for the failure is due to the 5in lift with stock axles? saw the video where it happened, great content!
Thanks! I'm sure the 37 inch tires didn't help. But it was because I had my wheel fully to one side and the front locker on in deep snow. I thought my wheels were straight. It put too much pressure on the one side.
Can you describe what it sounded like before it went out completely? I have a sound when I'm turning right at low speed, but only if it's a pretty far turn to the right. Almost like a metal grinding or rubbing?
Yea, I really should make a build video haha. It's a Badlands. So I have the RC 5inch lift for Badlands. 37x12.5r17 Toyo mts on 0mm offset Fast HD wheels
I'm in Canada, for reference. It's about 500 Canadian, 400 USD. Not cheap.... But cheaper than RCV shafts.... If I break another one I'll consider upgrading.
@@NorthShoreBronco with he torque you get from he tires breaking an axel is better than a transmission or gears. I'd stick with oem because reinforcing the axles puts the strain on the next weakest part. Keep it up man
@businessraptor127 Nah, if it broke this early on, buy stronger. If the next weakest link breaks buy stronger. Overall time you will have a better built Bronco. My CV axle starting clicking and clucking with less than 5k miles on it. I have a 2" lift over Sasquatch and was pulling an Expo 2.0 off grid trailer about 600 miles. I have already strengthen my steering rack and tierods and so RCV's was the next solution. Cry once and be done with it.
Dumbass question: what’s the minimum roof height I can get away with to jack up a Bronco on 33s to remove the wheel like you did, assuming no roof rack?
Hmmm, not sure. Shouldn't be too bad with 33's. For reference, I have a 5 inch lift and 37's, so I had to go quite high. If it's your garage you are wondering, just try it. Ceiling can't be that low in a garage?

You only need to undo the top ball joint. I also would not use an impact to remove the AXLE nut as they galled easily.
Subscribed!!
Us Badlands people got to stick together,
@@texasbradley Thanks!
Thanks for demonstrating how this is done. I literally laughed out loud at the “link in the description” for the block of wood.

Thanks for sharing this video man, if I was in Canada I would come wheeling with you.
For sure!
Cool video. Reminds me of how I fix cars. Use whatever is lying around, 😂.
Gotta use what you got! 😄
You are a crazy ass Canuk!!! You're awesome. Thanks for the vid.
Haha yea, it's all part of the fun, and thanks for watching!
35mm is the front axle nut size. Upper ball joint nut and tie rod are 46 lb.ft. The axle nut is 221 lb.ft
Thanks!
Hey great stuff! Found this video to be the perfect mix of quality info, humor and time
Thanks! Glad you found it interesting and helpful.
You made this look easy and kinda fun. I stopped doing my own auto repair years ago, but I would love to try this with my grandson if the need ever arises.
Thanks! If you do it, make sure you have a small bottle jack handy, or a second adult to help with the lifting...
That looks like so much fun! Glad you got it fixed though and congratulations on finding your balls
Thanks! It was "fun"😊. My wife quickly took the balls away from me when she found out I had gotten a hold of them.
@@NorthShoreBronco This saddens me. Commence the search for the balls once again!

The most appropriate comment I can think of is, "Git-R-Done". Thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it! Gotta do what you gotta do!

Thanks! good to know. I'll do that next time I break one haha. It's just a matter of time.
Good to know what I need to bring on a long trail ride.
Yea, unfortunately they are big and expensive.... Just be careful with that front locker and you should be good.
You could stick a screwdriver or such into the brake rotor slots... It will catch the brake caliper and don't turn.

I would like too also know as mines make a clicking noise when I have it full turned to the left and I'm moving
@@marquess.4291 mine ended up being a bad steering gear 😞 it took them a month and a half to get it replaced
What fluid are we adding after that
The diff fluid sits bellow the shaft, so you should be good. But, not a bad idea to check it anyway.
I can't find a build video on your Bronco. What size lift and tires do you have?

Hey man! Great video!!! By chance do you still have the damage axle? Wondering if you could show me the inner? Trying to rebuild mine 😅
Yes I do actually. I'll have to dig it out. Where did yours break? the cage?
did it drive ok? you have 4x4 back?
Back to normal now! But yea, 4x4 was disabled when it broke.
What kind of wood is best? 😄
Mahogany is best. 😉
