At about 7:00 he describes the vine growing at the corner of the chicken pen which produces a "sack of potatoes". It is Dioscorea Trifida, also known as Yampi in Spanish. It produces a cluster of true tropical yams maybe one pound or so each. They are exported into the US from Costa Rica and are available at Hispanic grocery stores. You will usually find them with wax on the upper part of the tubers which looks like a "neck", that is to preserve them to keep them from drying out.

Hey guys, FYI on the Jicara, Guacal, Calabash, (Morro) fruit, the beans inside are used in" El Salvador, CA " to make the most delicious tasting HORCHATA, drink you'll have ever had. here are the instructions " get beans, out of the fruit by cutting the fruit in half (beans look just like flat coffee beans) Sun, dry the seeds for three to four weeks. once dried remove the thin pulp by rubbing them in your hands against themselves and done ready for roasting.
Slow roast them in a "Comal" (larch flat plate made out of Clay" or flat metal sheet until they are light brown in color (don't burn them) just as what you would do with Cacao beans. once you roast them let them cool down for an hour or so, then put them into a blender with water add sugar if desired.
The outer Shell of the fruit can be carved completely clean and Sun, dry un till it turns real light brown and is nice and hard to make drinking bowls that will last a life time.
fi you are interested to see what the Morro, fruit looks like and he Beans, Google Image, " Morro Nutt and Morro, seeds.

Howdy, thank you for your videos. I watch so many, however I kinda feel bummed with this episode since I am believer in permaculture, and when I saw how the bees were treated, it was depressing. I know it's no one's place to tell people you visit how to live, but I feel that as the person recording and sharing messages, to be aware of what message we want to give and be more thoughtful in sharing how we want other people to take care of our planet and natural resources in harmony. My feedback is not meant to create any disrespect, just sharing that as a viewer, it's great to see content that supports more permaculture and less "man dominating land and animals" which can sometimes be blurred with homesteaders. Cheers my friend. And again thank you for putting all this work in sharing.

The jicara is known as calabash tree. They scoops the inside and boils it then they strain the water. They drink that because of its medicinal properties.

@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL actually I'm from India and here too we have similar stingless bees. Which are about 1-2 mm long and have similar hive structure. They build their hives inside unused PVC pipes, bamboos etc. Even here they say their honey has medicinal properties.

What is the name of these stingless bees? Interesting to see they don't store honey in bees wax hive. That means less cleaning to retrieve the honey.
