- Do the people of Wayanad look at Rahul Gandhi as their PM candidate? Is their anger that he doesn’t visit the Lok Sabha constituency enough? Will be as easy a win for Gandhi as 2019 or can this constituency also go the Amethi way?
Newslaundry’s Manisha Pande and The News Minute’s Dhanya Rajendran travel to Wayanad in northern Kerala to look at the bitter battle between the Left and Congress, who have been trading allegations against each other of being the ‘B-Team’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Manisha and Dhanya also speak to two candidates from Wayanad - CPI’s Annie Raja and BJP’s K Surendran - and follow their campaign. The two sit down at Calicut’s famous restaurant Paragon to discuss food politics in a state where beef and boeuf are very much part of everyday cuisine. Finally, they also speak to people to ask them what their issues are in this election.

As a citizen of the country I felt it has to be conveyed to them.
Modi ji, there is no point in shouting standing on a stage and asking the question that what is achieved inthe last 60 years. Dont you think that the citizens of our country are fools. You are the Prime Minister of a country , which was under the British rule for more than 300 years. The people were living just like slaves. Congress came to power in 1947 after independence and has started with zero. There was nothing in this country except the garbage left out by the British. India didn't even have the resourses to produce even a pin since Britishers left India. The electricity was available only for 20 villages across the country. Telephone facility was available only for 20 rulers (kings) in this country. There was no drinking water supply. There were only 10 small dams. No hospitals, no educational institutions, No fertilisers, no feed, no water supply for cultivation. There were no jobs & only starvation could be seen across the country. There were many infant deaths. Very few military staff on the border. Only 4 planes, 20 tanks & fully open borders on all 4 sides of the country. Very minimum roads & bridges. Empty exchequer.
Nehru came to power in these circumstances.
What is India after 60 years ?
One of the World's largest army. Thousands of war planes, tanks. Lakhs of industrial institutions. Electricity in almost all villages. Hundreds of electic power stations. Lakhs of kilometers of national highways & over bridges. New railway projects, Stadiums, super speciality hospitals, most of the Indian households with television, telephone for all the countrymen. All infrastructure to work in and outside the country, Banks, Universities, AIIMS, IITs, IIMs, Nuclear weapons, sub-marines, nuclear stations, ISRO, Navarathna Public sector units.
Indian Army barging till Lahore years back... Split Pakistan into 2 pieces . 1 lakh of military & commanders of Pakistan surrendered to Indian army .
India started exporting minerals & food items . Bank nationalization by Mrs. Indira Gandhi . Computers introduced to India & many job opportunities in India and outside the country .
You have become PM using information technology.
When you took over as the PM, India was the top 10 economies in the world . Apart from this, GSLV, Mangalyan, Monorail, Metro rail, International airports, Prithvi, Agni, Naag, Nuclear submarines.... all these were achieved well before you became PM.
Please do not come to people shouting and asking what congress has achieved in 60 years.
Please tell people what you have achieved in the last 9 years , except changing names, installing a statue and constantly playing cow politics, creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims, Hindus and Christians, Hindus and Dalits, Hindus and other minorities,
your failed demonetisation, poorly executed GST ( lowest since we achieved independence) and making people stand in long queues, causing unnecessary deaths. Hypocrite BJPians opposed FDI like anything and now BJP is supporting FDI shamelessly.. BJP is selling India to Ambani and Adani and Rafale deal to Anil Ambani's 2-month old company over HAL owned by government of India is a prime example of it.. BJP made petrol, diesel, and LPG price go up by putting more tax, while the price of crude oil became cheaper.. Modi government has through SBI in the form of fine collected whopping Rs 1771 crore for not able to maintain minimum balance from the poor people of India. Vikas is happening for Amit Shah's son , Shaurya Doval, Ambanis, Adani, Baba Ramdev's Patanjali group, and the people who sponsor BJP.. 3000 crores have been spent by BJP to clean river Ganga, the corruption of which, each and everyone can find out by taking a dip in river Ganga..you come out with sewage, scum, grease all over your body.
PS. This is not an advertisement for the congress campaign. I’m not a congress supporter. I’m just an informed voter who feels it is an insult to his intelligence each time the current government says our country has been no good over the last 60 years!

Rahul Gandhi took a safe seat Wayanad from where he got to know in last elections that his prospects were good. This time he also did the same. Amethi has been the fort of Congress which was raided by BJP last time. In the last five years he could have gone to the people of Amethi, asked for fogiveness and again fought from the conventional seat. Winning elections from UP will show that congress still have prospects in UP but he has already surrendered. Ms Sonia Gandhi has choosen Rajya Sabha rather than Lok Sabha this time while congress has not been able to declare a candiate from neither Raibareli nor Amethi. Who are the idiots that are advicing Rahul Gandhi and Sonia gandhi. Even after years of experience the Congress is fighting for not saving democracy but to save Gandhi family or might be any esteem that they have left. Its really shame.
