    I love this model and was lucky enough to get one. Just wish LEGO would've either just widely released this or at least handled it smarter than they did... They should've never allowed people to order up to 5 of this set, when they limit it to such a small amount of copies...

    • @natbarmore

      Agreed: if it’s gonna be a limited run, it should be 1 per customer.

      Lego is just out to make a quick side profit - who cares how many sets one buys.

  • @minnluke5918
    @minnluke5918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Wish they were widely available. They’re so expensive on the aftermarket and a lot of people didn’t know about the brinklink.

    • @marinekong235
      @marinekong235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just get the parts for it - cheaper and if you can’t get all the required parts, fret not - it’s Lego so you can substitute parts and change the design to give it a better look.

    I chose to buy 3 of the creator medieval castle sets and made an alternative moc instead of buying the bricklink set. I suggest it to anyone who didn't want to buy that castle in the forest to go that route!

    Thank you for reviewing this set for those of us who missed out on purchasing it. I too have the windmill set from round 2 on pre-order and can’t wait for it to be released later this year… and I am really hoping that the train station is selected for sale in round 3. I look forward to see how you mod this for your medieval corner!

    Rrp was like £135, they’re going for £360+ on eBay right now (and that’s with people actually bidding on them and not just the sellers BIN price) close to triple the price. So good investment set thanks to the hype and the limited run. And I think the no instructions booklet is part of what has kept them to a reasonable price relatively. The instructions books are a surprisingly costly part of manufacturing Lego sets, hence why there were some mistakes and errors in the digital instructions, but with digital ones they can be corrected even after the set has been sold whereas a physical book goes through a lot of work to make sure those errors don’t happen (but some will still get through anyway) costing time and money. Plus I think 99% of the parts for this set are existing Lego parts, so having nothing new keeps the cost down too I guess.

    I missed round 1, but not round 2 where I grabbed the Lego Shop. 😃 Really pleased you’ve shown this review as I’ve not seen any of the Bricklink sets like this presentation. 😛I think this is a fabulous set, but I do have a few castles…so I’m not too sad I missed out. 🥴

      And 10.000 was already double what they advertised. I don't know if you are in any local lego circles, sometimes there are people that are happy selling thing on for closer to the original price. It may be something you can look at parting out? It would have been better if this one had been in round 2 ad this castle has been by far the most popular.

    I don't understand the problem with aftermarket selling. It gives people a chance to purchase the set who maybe didn't know it was available, etc. Supply and demand determines whatever the price is. Plus, people can just order the parts and build their own if they don't want to pay a premium.

    • @micabryant4513
      @micabryant4513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the scalpers are ruining it for people...the stock was in short supply as it was without scalpers taking large amounts to flip for profit. On one hand who can blame people for trying to make some extra cash but on the other hand you can't deny they ruin availability for people who just want to have fun with Lego.
      The aftermarket prices are so high I think your point in them making them available to others is absurd.... I mean every copy a scalper bought and ballooned the price on could of been bought by a person with a genuine interest in the Lego.
      Scalping basically is selfishly putting your desire for money above others desire for the product

    • @studebricker2845
      @studebricker2845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micabryant4513 Many people are buying Bricklink sets just because they are "rare". If they had made 50k of them, the "limited edition" aspect of it is gone, and likely fewer sets would have been sold. Businesses have to make a profit or it's not worth the effort. If they end up having to discount the sets, they may end the program.
      As far as "resellers" go, yes, they provide a service. I'm sure new people learn of these Bricklink sets every month. So resellers give new Bricklink set fans, the chance to buy these sets.
      Again, another option is just buy the individual parts and build these sets yourself, if you don't like the aftermarket supply and demand.
