    Ok but that dialogue of your character going “let’s rule the world” and the emperor just nonchalantly replying with “omg, bestie! I was literally thinking the same thing 💅🐙” is so fucking funny to me.

    • @dorrianbrooks9408
      @dorrianbrooks9408 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +45

      @Niniene I doubt that. Stelmane was a personal thrall, something Mindflayers(especially lone ones) keep for companionship, like pets.
      The Emperor really does like Tav, but he's a Mindflayer, so he's prone to being logical over emotional. You are someone he wants to work with, but he also is aware that he has a power that anyone would want to steal or destory. Plus, in Mindflayer colonies, they're all connected via the Elder Brain. Emperor is basically the new Elder Brain, but he gives us more power and respect than a regular Elder Brain would give to any of its Mindflayers

    • @Regina316
      @Regina316 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +30

      @@dorrianbrooks9408 In other words, exactly the ending I had hoped for. Undoubtedly evil, but also in a relatively functional... alliance? At least. (I'm sick of the trope where bad guys cannot honestly cooperate with anyone, ever.) Well... to be completely honest, the Emperor is not exactly my first choice of ally for this... but I'll take it. ;)

    • @dorrianbrooks9408
      @dorrianbrooks9408 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +29

      @@Regina316 I definitely think it's functional. Regardless of whether you slept with The Emperor or not, he's still made it clear every step of the way that he wants to be our partner. He's offered us power we didnt need to have in order to get the job done because he wanted us to "evolve"(because to him being a Mindflayer is a good thing) alongside him. If we become a Mindflayer, he also lets US take the power from Orpheus if we want, because he trusts us. He doesnt even mind if we destroy the Elder Brain or not, and only takes control if WE ask him to. The Emperor isnt a good dude, but he's not completely evil either. He just wants to live with the freedom of not having to worry about githyanki hunting him, or the Elder Brain controlling him. So yeah, us being his Right Hand is kind of a big deal, and a genuine show of trust imo, especially since he doesnt even think about controlling the Elder Brain until we encourage him to.

    The Emperor turning back into their dream guardian appearance at the end is a really nice subtle touch. Previously there was no way to get that appearance back after you visited the artifact for the first time. Even if only for a single frame, there now is. I guess you could argue a *couple* of the endings aren't simp. But the vast majority require literally convincing a party member to not do what they've told you the entire game they want. Arguably this is pretty much the same. Just instead of convincing Shadowheart to not become a dark justiciar, you're convicing the Emperor to dominate the brain.

You choose to become Emperor`s b***h, when you could take all the power for yourslef, because you couldn`t hurt papa Squiddy. Your examples with Shart, Gale and Astarion make no sense since you don`t put their interests above your own, and those choices barely concern your character.

    Before patch 7 when i found out on youtube that Emperor does not share his rule with you, i decided to always defy him and save Orpheus, except when i want Become the Absolute. And this video just further confirms it, Emperor is an ass!
    UPDATE: 2:01 and 2:17 are what made me think Emperor ends up dominating us/making us his servant instead of sharing the rule. Romanced Ascended Astarion/Minthara would not get something like that in our Absolute Ending.

    Now the Emperor's motives have become more clear than just the ending with him sitting on the throne.Before this, I didn’t understand why the Emperor was helping us, but after we free Orpfius, he takes the side of the big brain. With this ending, it became clear that he was acting out of a desire to gain more power, and when his entire plan failed, he wanted to create a new plan in an attempt to prevent the hero's plans. If the protagonist couldn't, I'll try another time, the Emperor probably thought. It was this ending that put together the missing puzzle in the game's plot.

      He makes it explicitly clear that he believes freeing Orpheus will directly lead to him getting killed BY Orpheus. And to be fair, Orpheus' initial reaction is indeed to express his total fury at the party for taking advantage of his imprisonment. It's only after he's freed that he can calm down and see things more logically, and he only does so after you specifically turn against your ally to protect him. If he hadn't seen you do that, he might not have been able to see you in a different enough light to come around on.

      He destroys the githyanki because they are the only ones who can stop him. Although destroying Vlaakith is generally a good thing :). And by the way, the Emperor does not turn others into illithids, in fact, he has no goal to forcibly subjugate people who will serve voluntarily, which perhaps makes him the best ruler of the Baldur's gate 😄.

      His main goal is survival. To survive with greater power? Sure, but you need to convince him to dominate the brain, he does not do it because again he is not certain of his own survival. If you let it play out, he just kills the brain. Letting Orpheus live is a threat to his survival, so instead of going 1 vs 5, he decides to switch side as he will become a thrall without Orpheus power anyway

      This is the ending you get by rolling D20 persuation on him while he's riding on the high of destroying his former master. His default ending is him returning to his basement to do hedge funding in peace. His motives throughout the game are freedom and survival. He leaves if you free Orpheus because he believes Orpheus will kill him and you will be unable to stop him because the moment Orpheus decides to drop his protection, it's ghaik time for you.
      Also when you meet him as an enemy he's enthralled by the Brain, not fighting you of his own volition.
