7:13 Martin Bros. made overalls and blue jeans, that building now houses a furniture store
9:52 That's fountain square. The building housing Home on the Avenue and Edward Jones has a dragon depicted in the masonry/stonework - that was the city's founder's family sigil
12:22 the mall's theater has closed, so now would be the time to refurbish the Park
14:21 the Home on top of the building was for Home Federal Bank
15:15 Levitt Lot hosts free concerts and other community happenings. Mural was done by local artist Jaime Corum
16:10 used to be a hospital, and was also the Elks home aftewards. City has grants - hopefully heading towards remediation and rehab
16:58 Walt Overbay - he ran a community store and was involved heavily in little league baseball for years. Legend!
    19:48 Shades - great food

Love your videos from southeast Kentucky. My mom is from Middlesboro. You showed a newspaper article about Walt Overbay. The “Heart of Gold” article. Walt ran Montgomery’s Grocery in Noetown. He delivered groceries to those who couldn’t get out, and let people runs tab until they got their checks at the end of the month. He’d take their bill and enough cash to cash their checks for them. He was a coach for Middlesboro little league for years. A baseball field was named after him. He was my pappaw’s first cousins husband. He was a great man. He’ll be missed.

That's the old Park theatre , I watched a lot of movies there. It cost 25 cents in the 70's. I grew up 3 blocks up from there. Where the library is, used to be a parking lot, people could park all day also 25 cents. The big yellow building (bingo hall ) was a grocery store called Scienders Food Basket. Locally owned by great people. Used to be a cab stand by the theatre called Park Service cabs and my uncle Ben Hatfield owned it. Thanks for taking me back too many years to mention. Love your videos

Great video Coyote! I love Middlesboro, lots of beautiful places up there! I think the Chevy truck is a 66 or 67. I went up there several times when they were restoring the "Glacier Girl" she's an awesome plane, she was beautiful when they finished her, I was sad to see her go to Texas. I have a silver Glacier Girl coin I bought up there, a friend of mine has some of the original cooling fins from her. I took my wife up there on a motorcycle ride back after we got married and we got stormed on and soaked! I have a lot of great memories up there! Thanks for sharing!

The last time I went to Middlesboro was a couple years ago. My family and I went to Roses, after we got back from the R.O. Giles Flea Market near Tazewell, Tennessee, and then we ate at Arby's, located around the Middlesboro Mall. And that day was a very special one. It was my mom Jackie's birthday! She turned 62 that day! On April 7, 2019!

Thank you for the stroll thru Middlesboro. Love the old buildings. That big one on the corner looks like an old hospital. The red brick one looks like an old opry house. Nothing better than a walk and some humor. 😂😂😂😂 by the way I believe the Truck of my dreams was a 66 classic model like me😌 😂✌😳 God bless Y'all. Love all the old history and the theatre.

Hi Ignited Coyote! Thanks for featuring my mural in Middlesboro! It’s the one with the singer, birds, butterflies and flowers at the Levitt concert site and the intro image on this video. I’m a Bell County girl and am so proud of my area. My Dad is from Harlan/Cumberland so we all appreciate your videos! Come visit the Right Fork of Straight Creek (close to Stoney Fork) some day🙂

Wow! We are so honored that you noticed our little video. We love our little corner of Appalachia and we love showing positive things about it, seems like so many people want to focus on the negative when it comes our area. Your work is beautiful I wish you could do some in Harlan and Cumberland.

@@IgnitedCoyote I will try to one day🙂. I agree that our area is special and much under appreciated! But I’ve noticed a bit of a Renaissance in the Bell County and Corbin area. It’s natural beauty and kind people will eventually draw people back here. (But not too many people I hope 😜)❤️

I was in Middlesboro at the Glacier Girl exhibit when they first started restoring it.
I was there once before that at a festival ( forgot the name) , but there was a guy making knives from locally mined meteoric iron.
My grandfather had a 1964 short bed Chevy truck that looked a lot like the one in this video....

Shades Steakhouse for the past 3 or 4 years has been voted the number one steaks in the state of Kentucky. If you're going to eat their call and get a reservation because it's always crowded but it's worth it.
