    Considering the money you’d pay, and the fact you can basically install this in any room easily, it’s pretty crazy how well the A9 system works compared to a traditional home theater system.

    Great comparison, this gives so much confidence to buy Sony HTA9. This video proves that Sony HT A9 can stand the test of dedicated Home theatre set ups. By listening to the sound test it proves that this package can give a good movie experience in a non-acoustic set up living room. As many mentioned if it is dedicated set up, we will not be able to achieve Sony’s quality in same budget, there it is to decide. Remarkable, revolutionary innovation by Sony.

    1) which app has these demos
    2) I’ve hooked my Xbox one s to HT A9 to my Epson 3700 which does max of 1080 p. The problem I’m running into: Xbox one s thinks that the “tv” (projector can only support stereo and cannot enable atoms or Dolby vision) I understand the vision part but for Atmos ideally Ht a9 should be able to support. I see that you’ve projected your video on a screen. So I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong that makes Xbox one s output stereo only

    Great demo! I actually preferred the Sonys in the Auro 3D demos and preferred your speaker system in the Dolby based demos, mainly because in Dolby demos the emphasis was more on the subs. In the demo at 7:38 the voice is much clearer and cleaner with the Sony HT-A9 (and really felt like the announcer was in the room) but sounds a bit veiled and muddier on the 12 speaker system and the same in the flight overhead demos as well. For music I would definitely buy a dedicated sound system with quality amps etc.

    Can’t even compare these to systems to my ear, the 12 separate speaker system just expands the sound so well especially during the atmos demos. The Sony might be right for me since I have a small living room but that price is still a little steep right now( they even increased it a couple hundred since it launched)

    Great review as always!! Question for you, is it possible to connect say my Sony HTST-5000 soundbar system (use it as center sound and manually disable all other effects) and connect it to the HDMI output in the back of the HT-A9 system. Then connect the E-Arc of the HT-A9 will go directly to my TV E-Arc. Will both systems work with this type of connection for my LG-G1 TV while using both system at the same time for there intended purposes (remember I’ll be disabling all other effect on the HTST-5000 just keeping the center audio on. It allows to manually do this in settings?
    Also note: both the HTST-5000 and HT-A9 are E-Arc compatible to my LG-G1 which is E-Arc compatible as well.

    The Sonys did the spatial stuff surprisingly well considering they are only four physical speakers IMO. The tonality is way off though and they sound like they are struggling a bit (or maybe more than a bit) to fill the room.
    Your dedicated system sounded much more balanced and effortless, but I guess that comes as no surprise.
    I wouldn't buy the HT-A9 at their current price - way overpriced for what they offer sonically, I think even for the price of the set with the sub one can do better with a little effort...

      My room is 20x20x9, so pretty large space.

    • @vinrot
      @vinrot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have some fair points but the A9 wont struggle with SPL in most rooms. I reach reference (85db) way way under 50% volume. And it won't distort going louder either. Sonically it lacks midrange that is just down to physics. But I think most would be surprised of how well the A9 performs in a typical living space.
      Especially without Dynamic Range Compression and not comparing it to dedicated cinema rooms.
      I'd say matching the A9 cinematic experience in most rooms for the same price would take more than a litle effort. It is not perfect but dang good mate, give it a listen if you have the opportunity!
      Worth the money? It was a big concern for me until i got it set-up and got the subwoofer placement right. I've heard better systems but for at least twice the money and only in dedicated rooms.

    A extremely uneven comparison. The A9 is tested witouth a sub xcompared to a 3 sub system and then later on with auro 3d which the A9 does not natively supports. To add to that he set the A9 to DTS neural X which is a matrix upscaler to use on audio sources with less channels.

      YOU caught me!🤣🤣🤣 Did I say this was a scientific test? You can think it "beat" my system. These were level-matched to the best of my ability in post, and I was changing the volume and both my system and the Sony depending on the content which made level matching a bit difficult. Your comment is pretty funny though.

    so what do you want to show here? that a real home cinema is better? or is that a fail because the small system is close to movies? When I consider that my home theater only cost 6,000 but the working time that I needed is calculated at 10,000 over the years, then Sony is the winner. connect and enjoy the price. of course it's not the same, but buyers don't want an ugly living room, they want style with good cinema sound

      It sounds to me like you're being a bit defensive here. The point is to give people realistic expectations by comparing it to a much more expensive and complex home theater system. The goal is to let them decide for themselves whether it's worth it to them. Kind of like how you came to the conclusion for yourself. Mission accomplished.

      I don’t find much value to this comparison at all. It’s like comparing a Prius to a Audi Q5. They are both vehicles but why?
      If this were a more modest comparison where your using a midrange receiver with a 5.1.2 setup, I think then there may be some real comparitive value. A setup like that might be in the ballpark of the cost of the Sony system.
      This just doesn’t make sense. I’m watching a lot of comparison videos to obtain some value. None obtained here. Sorry to be so negative but truth.

    Night and day difference between systems. Sony HT was like a Bluetooth speaker compared to your system. For what the Sony system cost you could get a far superior 5.1 system. Yet another overpriced convenience system that can't compete with a decent 5.1 system.

    • @joentell
      @joentell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, not really a fair comparison if I were to just go based on price. One of my power amps costs more than the entire system. It would've been better if I could compare it to a 5.1 in the same price range

      Not everyone wants to build and wire a 5.1 system.

      @@jklok Yeah, I get it. There's a use case for this. I wish they would've given a few more options to adjust the sound. This is not an inexpensive system.

      Agreed the sony is a rip off a 5.1.2 would decimate this system i dont get why people think yhis a good deal that sub alone is pathetic its a terrible deal... i see store keep daying this beats oyher systems worth more money it just isnt true. It may be that its isnt terrible but that doesn't make it great itself.

    Sorry, these two systems can’t be compared…. Apples to Oranges! It’s like comparing a 4 wheeled car to 16 wheeler semi. At leased the HT-A9 is giving you the impression and experience of 12 virtually,, instead of 4 real. It’s also like comparing the virtual world to the real world. “Oh wow! It doesn’t sound like the real world.”. it’s NOT!

    • @joentell
      @joentell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the price of the Sony system? That's a consideration too. You can get a full 5.1 system around that price. If I had a budget 5.1, that would've been a better comparison. My system is significantly more expensive, so it's not that fair, but I want to give people perspective. I never expected the Sony to outperform my system, but it's interesting to see how close it gets and it which was is it superior/inferior/equal.

    Your system actually kills the Sony, but that doesn't make the Sony very nice for the money and effort.

    • @joentell
      @joentell  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. If the Sony sounded better, that would say a lot about my system! 😁 The point was just to give perspective. I've compared sound bars to bookshelf speakers for the same reason.

      @@joentell no doubt. I have a great surround sound system-4 Canton subs, 7 ADAM studio monitors. All calibrated by the principles of small room psychoacoustics and Atmos criteria. It’s badass, but the wife doesn’t want the living room full of speakers anymore. I’m looking for alternatives, and this video sheds a little light on what I’m going to lose. It’s hard to take a step back. Particularly with music. I suppose I could just go through the rest of this existence solo LOL. I get it though: it’s uglier than Lady Gaga in a Meat Dress…
