We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

Arrived as expected with all parts intact, also included two hex keys for assembly. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwOUUBdw8-88Iu4QnQS7q6b2NwZkHiYVl Had to adjust mine slightly to fit my bike, this was easy enough with instructions. I bought it to train with my track bike and found it to have resistance similar to climbing a slight gradient. Takes a while to learn to balance but there is plenty of guidance to help on the internet. Edit: There was more resistance at lower speeds because of the number of contact points but at higher speeds it is much easier as you don’t have to contend with drag.

Thank you for your time and effort in making this quality video! Was great to hear the noise these things can make., too. I also enjoyed your objective opinions and loved the tips like using a tripod to hold your phone or iPad. Brilliant! Yes, the intro could have been shorter, but I could tell it was going to be worth the wait! You enunciate clearly, speak intelligently with great intonation, have a great smile, and have loads of common sense! :)

I agree on the noise that could never be considered silent. I saw one of these at a thrift store (today) but it's missing the left hub connector. That isn't even considered a part on the parts diagram. Otherwise I might grab it and buy the part.

One small point is that the big yellow knob does not change resistance - only the contact pressure between the tire and the roller. It should only be tight enough to prevent slippage between them.

    @roijoi6963 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Very well done! A few tips you might want to comment on...
    1. If you ride with a dedicated trainer tire, it's very helpful to also have a 2nd wheel to keep it mounted on.
    2. If not, I'd RX something like the Pro4 Endurance in 25mm or 28mm. Winter is mostly about climbing and base miles, not speed, and the larger tires will not only hook up better on the trainer, they are less likely to leave you stopped (or worse), making NO heat in cold weather due to a flat.

Bontrager affinity comp saddle. Try it out, it’s the best one I’ve found. Contrary to most intuitions, the stiffer the road bike seat, the better. The softer seats put more pressure on the perineum, causes numbness.

  • @NewEnglandBikeRides

I upgraded from a classic magnetic resistance trainer to this unit a few years ago, and I love it very much. The road feel is excellent. The heat that builds up in the resistance unit creates higher resistance, so the harder you push the harder it is to push. The fly wheel fan cools the resistance unit slowly, but I find that it isn't worth cranking up too high because of the excessive resistance that it produces. I have used it for a few years on Zwift, but it is not very good for Zwift if you aren't using a power meter with it because you are super fast when the unit is cold, and then super slow when it gets warmer. This is especially true in warm climates where the cooling effect of the fly wheel fan is minimized. I will be creating 3+ watts per kilogram to begin a session, and within about 10 minutes I am down to about 1.8. Still, its a great trainer if you aren't working with a smart trainer application like Zwift.

Can you use a salsa timber jack mountain bike on one of those trainers?

I might be too late already for this reply but I love my selle saddle :D

I ride a Selle SLR, and have had it on a handful of century rides. Solid seat, especially at 135g, but I haven’t had much to compare it to

can you use this with a mountain bike and if so can you use it with a 2.3 to 2.4 width tire?

MTBdropIN what up Tony! Yes you can, I would buy a "trainer tire" though. This will chew up you new maxxis tires, plus it'll quiet it down. I think as far as width only a fat bike tire wouldn't fit.

Awesome review. I have a cheaper Cycleops Magneto and hooked up my 1999 MTB. Have you looked into the Fabric or Ergon saddles? Looking forward to your SB6 vid.

Thanks for the saddle recommendation Roy! Had a buddy really like his Ergon saddle and am a big fan of Fabric products. Will look into it. Do you have Nobbies on the MTB on the trainer?

PittsburghActive yeah I do. I have not have a chance to replace the tire. Everything on the bike is as is from 1999.

Roy Castillo that's awesome man! My dad still has my old GT tempest from 96ish, one of the first aluminum frames from GT. Me and my friends rode like 30 miles a day. Youth and boundless energy.... those were the days

Ergon SM saddle. I like it the best so far of any saddle I have owned.
