Another alternative for the base is an old CD or two; they're slightly smaller at 120mm or so. Or just a couple of layers of corrugated cardboard... Instead of texture paste, I'd recommend the much cheaper spackle/wall filler. You can get a tub of ready-mixed filler for very little, and you can do a lot with it: water it down for a paint-on paste, mix glue in for extra durability, add sand for extra texture... but even straight out of the tub, it's ideal for all kinds of filling and basing purposes. These lads came out great, and I always love to see people encouraging cheap ways to get into the hobby!
You're doing some steady craftin' there! Nice work, you could also place some small trees, bushes and longer tufts of grass on their tops to really sell the effect of these being literal chunks of the earth getting up and walking around, earth elementals.
I did something similar, taking action figures from the local goodwill and kitbashing them with a lot of different things to turn them into stone giants.
I had been thinking about doing this for the SOB spearhead but wasn't sure it would turn out how I liked. This definitely proves it would work great. Love the idea with different eyes to help differentiate them.
I saw the thumbnail, and my first thought was an army of Orc Rouge idols. They look more like the "giants" from the movie "Noah". But although I really, REALLY like your build, I think you are hindered, more than helped by your building material of choice. Styrofoam. Maybe a few more layers of texture paint (just PVA glue, fine sand, and paint) would be enough to cover the styrofoam better, but as it is, it is just too obvious what it is made from. In short, I think it is good, but with just a little more effort, it could be great!
Those look really cool!! I think those would work great as Rogue Idols for Orcs and Goblins. Also if I was running a 40k Snakebites army, I'd definitely like to scratchbuild some giant Ork rock golems that I could run as either Gorkanauts or Morkanauts
thank you, and glad you like the video! I love snakebites, it would be super cool to see some golems for them, maybe with cool ork glyphs or something haha.
thank you, crafting Critikal
hahah my pleasure
They came out so good, like a Regirock rugby team 👌
Haha thank you, the Regi's were definitely an inspiration for the eyes!
You know this is a great Idea! It's so easy and honestly my brain never thinks of stuff like this I always overcomplicate it. Thank you!
Thanks! Yeah I thought it was super simple so wanted to share, glad you enoyed!
oh i am definitely making these at some point, they look really good
thank you! You definitely should, it's a fun build

Thanks, I agree!

This is fantastic

Fab design! Thanks for making, recording and sharing 🤩
my pleasure, so glad you enjoyed
They look great. I think I might steal this idea and make some dead ones as warcry scenery.
Good vibes
This army would fly in my community for a tournament! I may have to try making an army of rock golems!
haha that's awesome, and ya definitely give it a try! It was super fun, and I feel like there's a ton of variation

I love the audacity of this!

awesome! love the army of giant regirocks!!
works as terrain pieces,too
This is sick thinking of maybe making a gargant spearhead using this method
I'll try it using bark, it's cheap and it is incredible with a black base, grey overbrush and light grey drybrush, it looks like real rocks.
oh yeah that would be super cool, I wonder if it would also be good for making treelords for sylvaneth
Welp I know what my next army is. Not that its a bad thing at all!

Normalise saying twine in place of string
The PoorHammer Podcast would be proud as a mofo.
haha I'll have to check out more of their vids, I always hear good things!
This sounds wicked dude.
thanks man!
You should get into turnip 28 which is basically kitbash the game.
yeah I see such cool models for that, looks super cool
Also, is there a way to contact you.. I'd like to see if you'd be interested in a business deal revolving around wargames and minis.
Makes me tempted to want to do a sylvaneth army following this kinda idea...
that would be super cool
You could use essentially the same methods as for building tree terrain.
"Warhammer" is not a hobby, wargaming is
Your channel has the best vibes, sharing your stuff and hoping for some growth for ya!
thank you, super appreciate it!
