Unfortunately, John hates his guitar playing on this album as he felt forced to play crunching over the top riffs. RHCP rarely plays anything off of Mother's Milk except Higher Ground and rarely Knock Me Down. Too bad as Mother's Milk is my favorite RHCP album.
Hes playing a Gibson Les Paul here, different than his usual Fender Strat. On a Les Paul when a string breaks your other strings wont be out of tune at all.
@@c6blackvette17 they stopped playing this before john even left. the only things they've played from mother's milk during john's second stint were fire, (which was recorded with hillel, so that doesn't even really count) pretty little ditty, (once) higher ground and nobody weird like me. it's been well documented that he didn't like the guitar tone he had used on the album, so he didn't want to play songs from mother's milk. i doubt they'd bring it back after 31/32 years.
when John was young he play like a kid..I mean he was already a guitar hero but is very different..he played metal riff in this era with an extreme guitars!
John started to develop his own style and that influenced a lot in the band. They still had that raw energy with songs like 'Around the world' and 'Tell me baby'.
😂 because Rick Rubin wanted Anthony to be more melodical and sing. From BSSM, through One hot Minute, and Californication is where he transitioned to a singer
I bet if you were around the LA area back when Hillel was still with them, you woulda been mind blown as well. I really only listen to MM and beyond myself, but they were killin it even in the early 80’s from a live show standpoint. Absolute force of nature
With John back I’d give anything to see them play this live again!!!
😔
Dude this is one of my favorite live performances by them. SO MUCH ENERGY. I’m hoping John brings it back !
Nah
he wrote this when he was 18... imagine that...

John Breaks a string during the solo and still rips it up like a GOD!
BEST BAND EVER!
This is the hardest rocking video I have ever seen in my entire life
You live a very sheltered life.
John played with a broken string, i think...he is a genious, man, just this
How do you know that?
look at 4:05 you can see the string.
yea, I was unsure about whether he was just lazy about his strings or if he actually broke it lol
Every gigging guitarist ever has had to deal with broken strings.

John frusciante!!
He's one of coolest dudes I've ever seen :)
Love seeing Chad with hair!!!
Would be so epic is they played this song at one of their shows today... love this jam!
And now that John is back they have to play this again!!!

@@featheryfemme and they've now played nobody weird and magic Johnson on this tour. Big win
Lyrical wise, maybe they think it's not cool to sing youthful and "carefree-themed" Lyrics in their 60s

Giulio Strammiello i prefer young john more because after californication his music got less heavy and less funky
Saqlain Haider do you know in the original recording of this song John makes a speed volume swell before the pre chorus?
Giulio Strammiello He was into the whole Steve Vai thing when he first joined, also a huge GNR fan... kinda unfortunate lol.
thenewyorkpauls what do you mean unfortunate?
Only because the producer forced him to play more metal riffs and add layering. Frusciante really didn't like it.
Increíbles planos de cámara y la mejor banda del planeta que más se puede pedir
This sounds 100x better on full volume
Probably amazing in the front where it is pounding your eardrums
goddammit i wish I had been old enough for this show dude..
1:34 i love the bass after they they say "live, they good times" and when anthony goes yeah yeah, i fucking love how flea plays ---- FUCK YEAH
God Damn it why did they stop play this kind of Funk

@@reddrivers5269, ain’t for good, in my opinion.
Grande tempo, um do melhores dos Peppers. Melhor versão live do Good Time Boys !
John playing a les paul? epic! happy birthday John!
The drums here sound insane
They were such rockstars back then
Bring back this please
Agree. Their new music is so lifeless by comparison.
@@andrewjenkinson8948 there's more to life than partying on pussys
@@whyyoulittle4537 I beg to differ.
yeahh!! Happy Birthday JONH FRUSCIANTE !!!
Every iteration of these 4 from MM to UL was amazing in its own way own style. Timeless band

God, how many wonderful songs were played in this performance!
I thought their 1985 Out in la opening was their best but this...this...holy..ffuck.

Yes 🤓 John Frusciante was only 19 years old here

Magnum Opus!!!!!!!!!!
What year was this?
cheesycrumpeteater 1989
@@jorgegodoyca thank you for the information 🤓👍
john with a les paul doesn't seem right
Joost Den Enting it doesn't at all
No sabía que Drossito Emoxito cantaba.
This is red hot.....now stop
Sadly the Peppers are a shadow of their former selves ☹️
Alas, but it’s damn true.
Still making high quality original music as 60 yr olds
Why use les paul... Jaguar or tele would be perfect
Because sometimes John likes to use them for a different feel, that's all. I'm sure he used a fender on the recording or something.
Levi300HD john didnt have either at this time. Strats and a les paul for the heavier stuff like higher ground
yes, he uses les pauls for heaver sounds. i believe he uses one on Readymade.
Bitix HILLEL? WAT
+Richie Whoa my bad i was thinking about fight like a brave i dont know why, sorry
