    Led Zeppelin - You Shook Me Lyrics:
    [Verse 1]
    You know you shook me
    You shook me all night long
    You know you shook me, baby
    You shook me all night long
    You shook me so hard
    Baby, baby, baby, please come home
    [Verse 2]
    I have a bird that whistles
    And I have birds that sing
    I have a bird that whistles
    And I have birds that sing
    I have a bird, won't do nothing
    Oh, oh, buy a diamond ring
    [Organ, Harmonica, and Guitar Solos]
    [Verse 1]
    You know you shook me, babe
    You shook me all night long
    I know you really, really did, babe
    I said, you shook me, baby
    You shook me all night long
    You shook me so hard, baby
    You shook me all night long

    “There’s not enough music that combines blues with sex”. Hahahahahahah! I love it. First album, no less. I think you should try “In My Time Of Dying”. Great old blues pumped up 1000%. If you are a fan of the drums, “Good Times Bad Times”, the first song of the first album give a nice intro of Bonzo’s drumming ability.

    The reason nobody does this anymore is, because it takes hard work, dedication, chemistry and most of all talent, all of which are absent in today's " music. "

    Detrucci their first LP is real bluesy. Later albums are more progressive. You need to check out songs like Immigrant Song, Kashmere, How Many More Times, Ramble On, Moby Dick, Friends, Celebration Day, Gallows Pole, The Battle of Evermore, Four Sticks, Going To California, Custard Pie, The Wanton Song, The Ocean, Achilles Last Stand.....I could just go on and on. You need to experience their whole discography. They really don't have a bad song IMO. ✌

    That keyboard style is found in a lot of gospel and funk. It's akin to a church organ. It helps elevates the song into the heavens imho.

    Every person on Led Zeppelin were masterfull musicians and the had a great front man, no studio magic, live is even better.

    Live: "Song Remains the Same/ Rain Song", from the concert movie, "The Song Remains the Same" is by far the best Zeppelin live performance. It's a hard driving rocker that mellows into a melodic ballad as they transition to "The Rain Song". They cut back and forth between the live performance and a Robert Plant video fantasy in which he is a stranded castaway in medieval England. They put time, effort, and money into creating a quality piece of art. That segment from the movie (and others) are available on youtube. If you want to see Zeppelin live, you might as well start with the best... the movie became something of a cult classic for Zeppelin fans that played late night in theaters for years.

    Hi, awesome reaction!, yeah back in the 60's and 70's the organ (keyboards) were very popular in music, what's awesome about Led Zep. is that John Paul Jones is the bass and keyboard player, while he's playing the organ he's also playing the bass at the same time with bass pedals on the organ, on many of their studio tracks, a great live performance to react to is "How many more times" from 1969 the video is all over youtube

    Great reaction, one of their best songs! If you're gonna do a live performance of songs you've already heard, I'd go with 'Since I've been loving you' from the DVD 'The song remains the same'. If you'll do studio versions, give 'When the levee breaks' a listen for some rock/blues, 'I can't quit you baby' for some heavy blues or 'D'yer Ma'ker' for some reggea-inspired music.

    It’s a lot of fun watching you discover the music that I grew up listening to.
    Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, Blood Rock, Deep Purple. The late sixties and early seventies was the advent of Heavy Metal. I think you’re going to enjoy much of the sound from that time.
    There are less heavy Rock bands and artists that are great also. Buffalo Springfield, Jimmy Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Melanie, Country Joe McDonald and the Fish, Steely Dan, Just to name a few. This ere could keep you busy for quite a while.

  • @TheLemzia
    @TheLemzia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just before Plant sings "I have a Bird, won't do nothin'....", somebody is Laughing, I've always wanted to know who that was. Zeppelin has a few songs that they've tossed a few things like that into the song that Simply FIT IN Perfectly, like in "Out on the Tiles" (a personal Favorite) that someone says "Stop" and while I think that is Jimmy, I've never heard who does those.
    If anyone knows, please let me know, because I know that Bonzo also sings backup, as well as Jimmy, like in the song "The Ocean", they actually sing "Doo Wop".
    I just can't imagine another Heavy Rock band singing "Doo Wop" in a song LOL, Imagine Black Sabbath singing that in "War Pigs" or "NIB" LMAO!!!

  • @davidcarter4247
    @davidcarter4247 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It was an amazing era when the musicians briefly gained control of their creative output. It gave us Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and others and created what will prove to be music as enduring as classical music. The money controllers got back in charge and it is why modern songs have predictably dreary messages laid over muzak, not music.

    Great reaction! Liked how you described the song. The Lemon Song next. You won't be disappointed. Lots of sex. And no organs. Enjoy! For live stuff, "Dazed and Confused" and "Stairway to Heaven" from their 1973 live concert entitled, "The Song Remains the Same". Then you listen to the songs, "The Song Remains the Same" and "The Rain Song" together. Then the entire 1970 live concert at Royal Albert Hall, and finally the 1975 performances in... Somewhere in London I think it was. Knebworth in 1979 is fine, but not my personal favourite.

  • @Darnaguen
    @Darnaguen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah, the organ solo is just part of the whole blues thing, so this being classic rock is not as much to 'blame' as the fact that this is a cover.
    But yeah, you nailed it: this is not even an overtly sexual song content-wise but Zep just had this vibe to them that brought sex and magic to everything they did -- which was even amplified live with Robert Plant tossing his golden curls and so forth. :D
    As for live performances... personally, I don't think there's a lot than can top the Madison Square Garden version of Since I've Been Loving You, so I actually might even suggest saving that for later and checking out other stuff first. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, maybe? The Danmarks Radio 1969 version? You'll see the 19-year-old baby Plant settling into his stage presence. :D

    The suits in the record labels, who know next to nothing about creativity, art, or music, (but know plenty about the bottom-line) got their filthy little claws dug deep into the industry. That, and the advent of MTV, where groups didn't need to hit the circuits night after night, to hone their craft...And let's not forget the ease of creating sounds (noice) through digital electronics..That's the fucking tri-fector death knell, baby..What more do you need to know?!..All I can say is, to every young person is to pick up an friggin' instrument. AND NOT FOR SHREDDING for God's sake!...Melodies, Melodies, Melodies...Throw in some interesting lyrics...Get to work!...REAL music won't make itself!

    You should really listen to the link I left below regardless as to whether or not you do a "review". It was recorded live in 1969 for a Danish television station to promote their first album and introduce the band to the public. They performed on a tiny stage in a small room in front of about 30 or so kids who sat in stunned silence. The band had only been together for about 5 or 6 months, Robert Plant (singer) and John Bonham (drummer) were only 19 or 20 years old, John Paul Jones (bass) and Jimmy Page (guitar) were only 23 or 24 at the time. The entire promo concert is about 31 minutes long and includes 4 songs. Their performance has been hailed as one of the most pivotal moments in Rock history.
    Keep in mind this is a live performance in front of a tv studio audience, it has not been "touched up" or remastered in any way. This is the original recording that aired on live television.

    Yo dude, if you want to dig into some serious authentic Blues, check out Luther 'Snake Boy' Johnson, this dude will make you either want to get drunk, or laid, or both, posthaste, lol: th-cam.com/video/rZiEKbICNjg/w-d-xo.html
    EDIT: I agree with you about the keyboard, or more specifically the organ, and I am from back in the era of Zeppelin. For me it may because I was so heavily into Fusion Jazz and various Rock, but I got burned out on that (to me irritating) organ sound decades ago. At the same time I really love piano in certain genres, but the organ....nope.

    I honestly don't understand the aversion some in your generation have to the sound of keyboard. It was a strategic part of any progressive rock band worth their salt. I just don't get it.
