Fiat 500C by Gucci | Drive & Review!

For this peculiar collaboration, Italian high-end luxury fashion house Gucci joined forces with Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat Automobiles S.p.A. in order to create a special edition variant of the companies fixed-profile convertible known as the 500C. The 500C model is part of the Fiat 500 series of automobiles that has been in production by Fiat since 2007. Originally, Fiat produced a four-seat, small city car known as the 500, and this model was developed from 1957 until 1975. In the year 2007, the Type 312 Fiat 500 became available in either a hatchback coupé or a fixed-profile convertible specification. Italian automobile designer acting as Chief Designer at Fiat, Roberto Giolito, is responsible for the styling of the concept for the new 500 model (Fiat Trepiùno). For the production car, Moroccan-born American automobile designer, Frank Stephenson and Italian architect and automobile designer, Flavio Manzoni handled the design work. The Fiat 500 uses a widened version of the Fiat Mini platform, and the first official photographs of this new model were shared to the public for the first time on March 20th of 2007 with an official debut taking place in July of that year. The 500 uses Multiair hydraulically actuated variable valve timing (VVT) engine technology, and notably, won the 2010 International Engine of the Year award. This specific variant, the 500C (Cabrio) made it’s official debut during the 2009 Geneva Motor show, and unlike a fully pillar-less convertible, the 500C retains it’s door frames, roof pillars and side windows. To allow for some airflow, the 500C features a dual-layer, three-position power-retractable cloth top roof system. The Gucci addition is a limited edition variation that was introduced for the 2013 model year and is dressed with a Nero (black) monotone interior that finely compliments the Gucci Bianco (white) glossy pearl-glass exterior paint finish. Much like a fine Gucci handbag or luxury item, the seats are wrapped with Poltrona Frau leather with signature ‘Guccissima’ print, and the signature Gucci Verde/Rosso/Verde (green/red/green) striping can be found in numerous areas both exteriorly and interiorly all over this rare example.
