Pining for a better mouthpiece? Part I

In honor of James Pyne, I wanted to look at some of my favorite mouthpieces he made. Obviously, I'm looking at them with the same ruthless perspective (comparing to my favorite Chedevilles in a principal context) but I really think there are situations where these would perform better than any of my main pieces!! Which is why I hang onto a few Pynes. Some of the best players of the last fifty years have played Pyne mouthpieces, and even those that are fully against asymmetrical facings have to admit there's a truly great sound in Pyne mouthpieces.

I always heard when he made a person a mouthpiece, it was very good. I played one of my high school teachers old Pyne and liked it. Strange, then years later, I tried one at a clarinet fest and wasn’t impressed. Also, I was always wondering what Vandoren mimicked with the BD 5. Looking forward to the next video.

You ask yourself too many questions to want to compare mouthpieces ...
It is true that the mouthpiece is the engine of the clarinet.
But time passes but evolves.
I think we have to keep a certain tradition in the know-how.
But unfortunately, the clarinets have also evolved....
What's the best mouthpiece?
My repairman was telling me
"You know what? Nothing new in front of the sky! Just warmed up!"
Today concerning me, it's a fight every day to play as I like.
I told you one day.
Maybe we should do those beaks again with our technology today?

It's hard to find the solution

Today's clarinets are different.

I think now we have to move on.
And I don't like what I write because I like the material of the era before.
