    Flexon Costco hoses now have gold aluminum hose ends, they are not brass anymore. They cause massive dielectric corrosion and are junk in about a year and end up destroying hose attachments and faucets if left attached

    • @jeffostroff

      I wonder if coating them with silicone grease beforehand would help things when you have to go to remove them.

    • @Brian-rj5rl
      @Brian-rj5rl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeffostroff I'm sure silicone grease would help. I spent about $80 on a quality US made rubber hose with brass...similar to what Costco used to carry 10 years ago.

      Why is that

    • @ccbowers
      @ccbowers ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did they startle you?
      Actually I understand the surprise. When we first started seeing these types of fireworks in stores in our county a few years ago, it did seem out of place. But as Jeff said, these are pretty tame. They aren't the type that shoot up and are limited. They still can make some noise and light, but are not the kind that will remove appendages.

    • @seansaca
      @seansaca ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ammogiant824 you have to buy fireworks at a roadside stand outside of the city limits where I live. You also are not supposed to take them back into a city. I think those are the same ones Jeff is talking about in his comment here lol

    We have had nothing but great “luck” with our collapsable hoses. We have a 25 and a 100 footer. And gave an old one to our daughter. Absolutely love them! No leaks and no bulky hose reels. (Amazon not COSTCO.)

  • @johnw1178

    Jeff, I bought the Rachio sprinkler controller about 2 years ago and love it. It has definitely lowered my water bill. For those who read the comments they may want to check with their water company as many offer rebates for installing a water conserving device like it. I received a $50 credit on my water bill when I go mine. This bring the price to a little over $100. Not bad!

  • @hardlyb

    I went back to Costco several times to buy more of those clear three-pack Greenmade containers, and now I can find most of the stuff in my garage, since I can see inside the boxes. I've had them at most a year, so I'll have to see about durability, but they didn't crack in dead of last winter, which is a good sign.

    For collapsible/flexible hoses, they are probably fine for low pressures.
    It works fine for my situation, which is an apartment with a large terrace. There is no hose-bib connection outside, so the water for the plants either comes from the sky, watering cans, or a hose connected to the bathroom faucet. The faucet connection is designed to not be fully pressurized (since that would be a bad idea for an indoor temporary hose connection), so it always allows water to leak out of the connection and into the sink. You just turn on faucet just high enough to not have water spraying everywhere from the connection. It provides an adequate amount of water for potted plants.

    Jeff, I hate to disagree with you BUT that particular flexible hose you saw at Costco is a winner, I have returned numerous hoses but I bought that hose 2 years ago for $27.99 and it is the best, worthy of a tool review. Check it out.!

    What is sugar alcohol

    • @shanew7361
      @shanew7361 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sugar alcohols are organic compounds, typically derived from sugars, containing one hydroxyl group attached to each carbon atom. They are white, water-soluble solids that can occur naturally or be produced industrially by hydrogenating sugars

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The sugar alcohols are alternative to sugar and they don't affect your body as much as real sugar. Because your body can't absorb them but yet they'll give you that sweetness taste to the food.

    Costco Hose = Trash, it looks like the same as hoses that cost more, but it is made inferior! It Kinks like crazy after you use it regularly. Spend more $ to get an expandable hose or heavy duty polyurethane hose not sold at Costco... Otherwise you will be cursing every time you use it and eventually you will donate it, give it away, or throw it away.

      I bought a 100' "ranch" house at Tractor Supply. It's everything you need. Heavy duty, thick material, strong pressure and the only real "no bend" house I've ever used. Just mentioning if you're looking for a quality hose. It sells for $100 which is worth every penny to me. It does go on sale occasionally for less.
