Best splicing video I've found. If you've ever tried to splice used double braid, you see it is much more difficult than new rope. This technique makes what seemed impossible actually almost easy. With new rope it is a breeze.
Working construction and wound up on a job site where all ropes for lifting had to have a spliced eye cause they didn't trust people tying knots. They were using these huge 3 strand bull ropes because it seamed to be the only rope they could braid an eye into. I tried other videos on TH-cam and failed on 5 other videos. Watching your video I did it on my first try (slowly, rewinding, and Watching over and over). Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. It's not always easy to take time out of your busy day for complete strangers to benefit. Because. of people like you and Thousands of others in the TH-cam community, you're making people's lives easier one video at at time. Thank you again.
Super instruction. I have tried to make a proper splice for many years and even given up on it. With your instruction i have just made a perfect one in 8 mm Liros - Herkules vision. Thank you from Denmark
The splicing wand was built by Brion Toss but they are getting difficult to find since he passed away some years ago. Sailrite, some random arborist sites have them... I was using the medium size in this video

Excellent, so glad to hear
Wov, milking looks so easy! I always struggle with that. I guess I need to pay more attention to the rope imperfection at earlier stages.
I often struggle with the final part. How bad is it if you only succeed a little after the first marker? Can it fail?
I do lock it with a stitched whipping
@tomgensemer...Tom, how would I find out the tools that you you use to splice double brain nylon rope?

Where do u live ?
What type of fid / needle are you using?
That's the Brion Toss size medium splicing wand. Getting hard to find. I'm not sure if Brion Toss yacht riggers will continue to build them.
I failed rocket science at MIT. No wonder I can't make one of these things!!!
Nice shop
What the heck are Diameters? I know that a diameter is the distance across a circle not some linear measurement. Do you mean centimeters?
No I mean Diameters. This is 1/2" rope and 24 diameters is 12" bury. 1/4" rope is 6" bury
double braid
