I’ve been smelling onions for week in my backyard! This morning they started looking like the ones you’re holding here. I’m so excited! The original home owners gardened here over 60 years ago but the land hasn’t been worked on that way since and somehow these have survived after all that time 😮
My mom has something that smells like garlic that comes up in spring. Never thought to pull them to see if it is garlic. It’s way back on the property where my great uncle used to garden.
It may be garlic chives! They are very easy to grow and look pretty similar to these spring onions. Go check it out and let me know 😊 If he gardened there it very well may be actual massive garlic that you could use in your garden. How cool would that be?!
Honestly I'm not sure that you can buy them. I'd say post somewhere and see if anyone has any growing in their backyard and ask to tranplant some to your yard. They are even growing wild in the grass by my business. Are you near Lafayette? If so, I'll gladly dig some up for you.
Hey there, I have chickens and I make sure the netting I have outside their coop for them to free range in doesn't cover this area. I don't want them completely eating it all down to the round and potentially scratching them out. I don't have any other animals that graze our property yet. Even when I do get some, this little area will be protected. Ha! Did that answer your question?

That’s incredible! So exciting! 😁🧅 They are so yummy cut up fresh. I’m gonna use some for a quiche tonight.
I see so many people itching to mow at the first opportunity. This is a great tip.
Always! I'd be lying if I said I didn't "miss" mowing... Until July and then I've got my fill. Ha!

I loved them at first, but they will take over. They got into my asparagus patch and I like to have never got them out. They multiply so quick.
I’ve got several acres and they are out in the grass so I don’t mind them. They’d have to move 30 yards to get to my garden. Hopefully they stay put.

Is there a place to get some seeds for those onions to start of a small patch?
