  • In this episode we chat about James' trip to Glastonbury, sadly lacking in Sugababes, but eventful nonetheless, before we turn our attention to the football and Euro 2024 in particular.
There's discussion of Ronaldo's histrionics last night, England's performances and progression, and some focus on the Arsenal players who have been most involved over the course of the tournament. Then we answer listener questions about getting more value from our Academy players, which of them might make the trip to the US for the summer tour and stake a claim for a place, transfers in general and whether things will start to get busy now we're in July, and lots more.

Correct me if I'm wrong, if I recall Shatner's bassoon is the part of the brain that deals with time perception.

I think we have to consider Omari’s age at the time he was with us, as at that time, even if he went on loan he probably wasn’t ready to make an impact for a championship promotion contender. Which means we wouldn’t be able to receive that type of transfer fee.
Arsenal did mess up with Ruell Walters and Amario Cozier Dubbery, they should have been loaned out.

i know a youth player, they feel that arteta never plays anyone from the youth teams and its kinda true also out loan system is very average

Hold on, players didn't want to represent England for the 20 years preceding Southgates tenure. I don't remember hearing that. Also didn't a player (can't remember who and which team he plays for 🤔) refuse his call up to the England Euro 2024 squad

Even Gary Neville talked about he hated playing for England, and rest echoed the same.
This has been one tournament too far, but in the last three England players had enjoyed their time, which is very unique for England.

@@sandboxplayerz667 did they say that at the time when they were being picked or after they had retired from international football. Because if they came out with these statements after they were no longer eligible for England. Then how do we know that this set of players currently enjoy going away with England. We already know one person that's refused to play for England because he wasn't happy with what happened at the last tournament

@@gooner7331 I don't think they're enjoying it right now, but they had said the shift in mood was great since he took over. I don't think they'd lie about it.

@@gooner7331 They've all came out and said it. The current players have even said that Southgate changed how the England camps feel. It seems like they've regressed though, probably due to all the negativity around the team at the minute but hard to know exactly why.
Regarding White, he's clearly an outlier, every other England player have said how much they're enjoying the camps and praise the manager and coaching staff more than normal.
See Trent & Bellingham doing the celebration for one of the staff the other day...

People keep talking about systems and tactics with England but in reality the players are clearly scared to death of making mistakes and being the next Beckham esq scapegoat. They keep putting simple passes out of play. You see this particularly at the start of the games or when they're leading.
All the changes people have been crying out for have made little difference and I suspect unless some of the players yet to be used don't have the same fear, I doubt they will make much difference going forward too.

Maybe. But there is real funny business going around in the open. None of these deals are real in this window.
I wonder if in the past people like Roman had backdoor deals with clubs to buy their players for great fees on paper. If they're doing it in the open now, then what stopped them to do in secret in the past?

Was it after the second game with Portugal? When Ronaldo unselfishly passed to Fernandes to tap in, but it was offside, and after the game all Portugal players were saying in interviews how unselfish he is and always plays for the team. Nope, I don't think so. Maybe they were subliminally sending him a message to snap out of being such a t.....
