John Norum is a monster on guitar, he dont change the solo melody but you can listen his own style

There is no replacing anyone in this band and that includes George Lynch.

They should retune music down for Don now that he isn't a teenager. His voice has aged and he is trying to hit the highs which he really can't anymore. I had thyroid cancer and had my neck fused and aged so I have no high notes. So I have learned a lot about retuning music to fit the vocal range. Back in the 80's a singer was judged by how high he could sing lol

    Actually smoking killed his voice.

Yeah and he seemed to be unaware that his voice had declined a lot since 1999 in 2002.
The 1999 performance of Kiss of death with Reb Beach he sounded great.
Truthfully though his voice had been declining since 1988. Back for the attack was his vocal peak.

@@lrn_news9171 Up From The Ashes in 1990 was stellar. On 1995's Dysfunctional you can hear it starting to go. He just smoked too much and sang too high all the time. He blew out his chords. Smoking kills your voice quickly. Kills your upper range first. Then, it kills your mid-range slowly. Finally, you can't hit any note above the lower ranges. And, don't get my started on breath management. I sing so, I've seen first hand what it does.

@@damienowens6983 Yeah when you listen to their live shows from the 80s, the ones up on youtube, you can tell that he's forcing himself to sing high all the time, you can tell it's an uncomfortable range for him and that he's pushing hard to hit these notes and sometimes he alters the melody to rest his voice, and then he can hit those notes again.
Usually you can tell that after Lynch finished his solo, his voice was well rested and could hit these notes better.

      @@damienowens6983 I'm a smoker myself but I am not a singer, I'm a guitarist.
I don't think I've been smoking long enough for it to really have an effect on my voice yet. Probably takes at least 15 years of smoking.
Don in his prime he had been smoking for probably 15 years already.

@@lrn_news9171 Depends on how much you smoke. 1 or 2 packs a day you'll kill it in no time. I smoked for a year but, was exposed to alot of secondhand smoke from my parents.

Reb Beach is way better than Jon Norum.

Thirdgen83 definitely different styles but yeah, Reb is the far more talented.

I love both of their guitar playing, but I do love Reb Beach's guitar playing way more. Both are extremely amazing guitar players . I love every band that Reb Beach has played with especially Winger, Dokken and Whitesnake. I love Europe's first three studio albums that John Norum played on big time. The first self titled debut album and Wings Of Tomorrow are amazing albums. I also love John's guitar playing on Don Dokken's first solo album Up From The Ashes. Both John Norum and Reb Beach did an amazing job when they were in Dokken, but I love the album Reb Beach did Erase The Slate much better than the album John Norum did Long Way From Home.

@Renan Bullshit. You're a PUNK. You have no idea who the musicians in Winger are. All TOP NOTCH musicians who formed a super tight band. I've been playing guitar since 1984, so you don't impress me one bit.

    • @Thirdgen83

@Renan You're a moron. John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, and MANY MANY other American guitar players would wipe their ass with George Lynch.
