I watched two of your videos one after another, and did not paid attention to the your TH-cam number of subscribers and so on, I had feeling like I watching channel which have 1-2 million's subscribers and like this video have at least 100k views , that is how good this video is and that is how good is previous video I watched before this one, previous was about flayback and EMF voltage etc.. So now huge surprise to me, only 259 subs and only 195 views on this video. Mate you deserve much much more than that. It is not that I do not know about what you talk and so , but you doing it on so good way that I watched without thinking about how I know that and I don't need to watch that.

wow, great comment. thanks a lot. Yeah the channel is new, only started in June I think. My aim in each video is to make complicated science subjects clear and easy to understand for beginners. Glad you liked it.

One of the advantages of the L3, the Extra coil as Tesla called it, is that if you have it outside the fields of the first 2 coils you can make the coupling between L1 and L2 as tight as possible to induce the greatest effects, since the close coupling weighs down the L2 and the L3 is outside of it you can get the best of both worlds, maximum transfer and free oscillation.
There's also a "Velocity Factor" involved there, where the coils can be configured to allow energy from the L2 into the L3 but resist allowing it back into the L2 which further increases the performance, the VF is like how the energy in waves get reflected back if the next medium is "heavier" in a sense, the VF seems to be based on the Length over Diameter, larger L/D gives a higher and "lighter" factor, Wardenclyffe Research here on YT talks about this in more detail in his video on Tesla's Extra Coil.
I've heard it can also induce a power factor correction effect to eliminate the 90 degree current lag further increasing the voltage.
