Well apart from the bike welfare, it was another enjoyable watch, the scenery and the feeling of being out in the backblocks is great. have to say I was really happy with the music, to my ears it fitted really well😀 Look forward to seeing the next episode and what others will think about it all !😧
Yes I was quite pleased because I didn't think it would come together as well as it did. People and good music are key factors. I've got to get my head together and get in the mood to finish that one. I'd sooner get on with life but there are important facts new bike buyers need to know. Thanks for your positives Lindsay. Cheers
Great presentation. I'm moving to Invercargill from Taupo a transfer through work. I'm currently on a Royal Enfield Himalayan I've had since new in 2019. I'm thinking about buying a CRF300 Rally. It's lighter and more pick up friendly than the Himmy which is 50kg heavier. I've just discovered your channel, so will look forward to looking at your other content for future ride ideas. Subbed
Now that's a great combo, living in the Sth Island with a keen adventure bike, way to go banditoo. And.... welcome to my channel. I look forward to hearing about your experiences. Be warned though, after the next episode upload I will be finishing off the Africa Twin adventures I experienced during Mch last year (2022). Hope your transfer goes well.👍
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean an open session so people can ask me any questions relating to what I do. I have had in the back of my mind for some time to (shooting from the hip now) do a trip to an interesting camping spot and get a good fire going, sit back with a smooth whiskey and tell how it all started for me laced with history here and there which could have relative video covering the conversation. Is that what you mean? back to you Johnny.......
Hi Darryl sorry to hear that the might little Honda had a meltdown. Hopefully you can get it sorted soon , or fly home and get “blacky” and then continue. My wife’s cb 650 f had a internal meltdown with 25k on the clock . Not viable to repair . Another great vid and I am adding Thomson Gorge track to my must do’s Cheers again for sharing your adventures
Hi Kevin. Yes nothing that a new piston and cylinder couldn't fix. I'm back in Napier having enjoyed a couple of worthy rides on it. I flew home 5 days later after getting no satisfaction from Alexandra Honda. More about that on the next episode. Cheers
We have choices and the bike is up and running here in the Nth Island giving me heaps of pleasure, but there was a consequence which I discuss in my next episode. Thanks for your positives Matauboy.👍
Bought back memories of crossing thompsons on our way to the brass , muddy and lots of gates turned into snow and ice at the top then dusty on the Alex side, lots of fun! Sorry to hear about the little honda!
Sounds interesting and adventure like Peter. Yes I've been lucky both times as I believe it is very slippery when wet. I been enjoying the bike since its repairs and will give more details on the next episode. Thanks for watching👍
Hi Andy, thanks for hooking into my channel. I had an idea when I finish the the final episode to answer the big question. Would I buy another Rally 300 and the answer is yes. Even Honda will tell you nothing mechanical lasts for ever, because all products will breakdown. Honda is known for the reliability of its products. The bike is a budget bike with sound basics ideal and apppealingfor a beginner, particularly because of its soft suspension but totally inadiquate for someone like myself. I have added sensible accessories to enhance the efficiency of the bike, particularly the handling and am satisfied as you can tell with my first test in Ep34. If you've watched Norally with her 'Itchy Boots' globel touring channel on utube you are looking at a Rally 300. As you might know, my normal bike is my Africa Twin. Riding a well set up 3 hundy is a totally different dynamic and when I ride it I can't stop smiling. Just be careful what accessories you plan to add and if engine perormance parts, discuss with your dealer pertaining to engine warranty. The thumbnail picture advertising ep44 told you how many kms the bike completed when it expired with a damaged piston and cylinder. Cheers
Hi Darryl, thanks for that really great reply. yes, i'll be keeping an eye out for the next episode. I have a road legal WR450F 2008, super reliable. Great off road, metal roads etc, on the road though she's a thumper so the 300 is what i was / am looking at for my next bike. nice and light, easy to handle but use it for what you have been doing so will be keen hear what happened and why.. again thanks for the reply. cheers Andy
Howdy Jason, yep sure would have been diabolicle had it happened in some of the places I shared with the 300 and these sort of experiences cost $'. Find out more on the next episode. Cheers.
Thats an interestion question Dave. There has been a comment or two amongst 300 owners of the 5000km rattle but no, no untoward sound like pinking etc. More about that next episode. Cheers
how many kms/hrs on the motor?at least you were in the right spot to break down on a honda, bruce davidson who owns the honda shop there is a great guy and incredibly helpful!!
Sounds like you're from around the area JD. The bike had just done 6000 kms and sorry to say, Bruce Davidson was the main antagonist in the event. Cheers.
Great video mate. Sorry about the bikes motor. It seemed to be purring along. Cant understand what's caused it, they seem to be bullet proof. Its not as if you abuse it. Come on Honda??
Bit of a bugger Garth and a pity I wasn't in the Nth Island at the time. I was disappointed with Honda big time but there are some things that buyers should be aware of. I wll enlarge on the facts next episode.👍
Goodness that's a shame mate. Do you know what caused the problem and have you done any repairs to the motor since? was a great watch...just love that Lindas Pass speaking from a road riding point of view of course.
Hi Noel it was a shame and I wouldn't wish that on anybody, but it is what it is and I'm happy to say all repairs have been made to my satisfaction. I'll enlarge more about that on my next video. Yes I love riding through the Lindis and am lucky that every time the weather has been stunning. Talking about road bikes, you wouldn't have any drama riding the average road bike through there in dry weather, I showed the only really difficult bit by the long stream and did that on my Africa Twin a year or two ago. Thanks for watching.
So what happened to the CRF300 Rally? Did you get it replaced / repaired under warranty? I haven't heard of this happening to this bike at all. I wonder what could have caused it?
Well apart from the bike welfare, it was another enjoyable watch, the scenery and the feeling of being out in the backblocks is great.

You should do a Q and A video. Get to know the man behind the bike

You read my mind. Be great to see some content of you in your enduro days.

Thanks Darryl! Great video again Regards Ted
You're welcome Ted and thanks for your support.
Another great video, Darryl. It's good to finally find out what happened to the bike, and I can't wait until your next video. See you next month.
Hi Mike and thanks. Next episode will enlarge on the details. Cheers
Well I wasn't expecting that ending! Hope everything has a positive outcome.

That sucks mate luckily it didn't fail in the the middle of nowhere, but another great video hope your repair bill isnt to high.

Any strange rattling noise before the event that you just thought was something to do with the skidplate etc

Hey Kiwi, long story short Honda didn't want to help the cause so will be putting the details in my next episode. Cheers mate.
