      Capitalism at it's finest - fast fashion is disgusting. I still have clothes from 20 years agp, and can count on my hands and feet all the clothes I've purchased over that entire time.
      One of the worst things in the US is they throw away A LOT of good food and soak it in bleach so people can't eat it...
      Something like 95% of everything one sees in a department store will be in a landfill within 5 years...
      I foresee the future mining our landfills as goldmines of resources.

    I have a 8 TRILLION DOLLAR idea! Put 50 cent on a plastic bottle. People pay 50 cent more for a coka-cola and when you give it back to the store... you get your 50 cent back. If you find some bottels on the ground.. turn them in as well and get more money. Problem solved.

    30:00 - I do that work, the plastic is garbage, along with glass and ceramic, and it costs money to get rid of. Id love a better way for those, but all I can do now is dump it. The rest has value and I get paid a little to recycle them.

    I wish everything was made with paper, glass, ceramic, metal, wood, an other organic materials. I strive to only buy those materials. Plastic has a ton of health problems and its in everything. It also makes everything feel cheaply made.

      @@motiemo You can buy containers in metal or glass (silicon protectors), nonsolid food and drink can be made through a blender/juicer, maybe there is a diy natural breastmilk, the clothes can be cotton, the diapers can be cloth, the toothpaste can be floride free (Toms), the water can be 99% purified (Alexapure). We do all of this with very little sacrifice to modern conveniences.

    This is garbage. Not quality clothing fabric. It's poisoning us. Fast fashion is a perfect poster child for everything wrong with clothes made after the 90s. Goodbye leather, goodbye wool, goodbye silk & 100% cotton anything. Goodbye reliable brands making well made clothes that fit your body & hold their fit. NOT COOL, PPL. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

    While all this is great, we just need to stop producing so much. We need to stop making so many clothes, so many bottles, so much of everything. Because no matter how much you recycle, if we keep producing endless plastic crap, recycling is just a temporary solution that keeps stuff out of landfills for a while.

    I hate to state the obvious but seems like a lot of man hours and energy to recycle. I bet it would be cheaper and better for the environment just to throw it all away

    • @newolde1
      @newolde1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all depends on what materials were talking about here. It also depends on how you calculate the impact and costs. Are we talking about the lifespan of the materials, and the extended impacts on the environment, or just your lifespan?
      Ultimately, it would be cheapest and best for the environment if we just minimize the usage of these materials as much as humanly possible.
      Then there is an approach called "Cradle to Cradle" go look it up.

    • @soundsoflife9549

      It will all come down to economics: Today's rubbish tips will be tomorrows mines.

    • @newolde1
      @newolde1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soundsoflife9549 that is hopeful imagery. But it is also a logic trap in the sense that it enables people to continue mindlessly producing and consuming. Reducing overall waste generation is the key, not recycling.
      And, currently in the world there is so much garbage that never even makes it to a proper landfill and is accumulating in the land, rivers and oceans, causing much damage. And it is extremely hard to retrieve. So even if we ever do actually begin reusing/recycling waste in earnest, this is still going to be a major issue as the economics of it are unlikely to change. And, the way things are going, it will likely take many generations until the economics of pulling waste out of proper landfills to recycle it will make sense as well. And the amount of materials that will be viable to recycle is an unknown.
      So overall it's a pretty bad bet at this point tbh. Sorry to burst your bubble.

      I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
      information can be a big hurdle. I've been
      making more than $100k passively by just
      investing through an advisor, and I don't have
      to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my
      finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.
