Why is electrical tape of those temporary repairs that don’t really hold up well but seems to bond permanently when you’re trying to remove it to actually fix something

Life experience has told me that nothing good lives under a big ball of gummy electrical tape.
They probably used the tape as some kind of cushion when they slide the anvil into a recess so they don't mar the recess.
Maybe they drilled holes in the rotor to reduce weight and then plugged the holes with lighter material.
I'm impressed those grips were still elastic and flexible. Somebody at IR had to have worked for a firearms company because they sure took full advantage using roll pins. Get a tapered punch to align the holes in the housing a trigger. insert the pin as you draw out the punch.

You always share your wisdom, James, thank you!
Regarding the rotor, those round black things are on the schematic as "rotor plugs" but I don't know their function. I didn't try very hard, but I couldn't take them out.

@@CoyleTools You are very welcome! I try to help people not make the mistakes i made!
It could be for weight. That rotor could get really heavy which means it would take longer to spin up.

thanks great video. I've rebuilt a couple of older air tools and it's great to see them come back to life instead of being thrown away.

I love it. When I took this back to the customer and they hooked it up to test, it had some serious balls. Good as new!

I can't remember why I have that. I think I swapped it with a Gearwrench one for a customer years ago. The long handle is perfect for these types of applications.
