Thank you for introducing me to the work of Emily Mason. I agree, there is something about it which is uplifting. Her way of working I find very familiar. Make a mark, look at how it sits on the paper, or canvas, then respond to that and make another one. Like her, I usually have lots on the go at the same time, and I'm always rotating the image to see if it looks better from a different angle. I will be sending you some examples for your challenge.
Emily Mason reminds me a bit of Joan Mitchell and Helen Frankenthaler, whom I like. I'll try and enter if I have time. It sounds like a nice challenge and I'm already looking forward to see what others can come up with.
Hi Albert! I’m taking a painting class at the local college and it is very hard. The finals are this week and after that, I am ready to rejoin the playfulness of Imperfect Painting. As always, thanks for the cool video 🙏
Hi Franca, it would be nice if you could join in on the fun. But I also wish you the best for your painting class. We will see. Have a good week, Albert
Hi Albert. It seemed to me that your art class students produced some very confident work in this one. Even if they didn't like being interrupted. I may be wrong, but I took this to be a good sign, showing how they have learned to relax and be open to new ideas, due you the way you teach. At about 7:07 minutes on, in this video, the screen goes black, there is no sound either. At about 8:15 the sound come back in the middle of a sentence, the picture comes back at 8:18. Is it a mistake, of a Zen example of interruption? :-) Whichever it is, the ideas you put forward here are intriguing and full of promise.

Mooie opdracht Albert! Emily Mason spreekt me erg aan; een stapje verder met laag over laag is natuurlijk ook mijn ding... Dank je voor je inspiratie.

Thanks Gordon. I checked and I apparently missed cutting of the last empty minutes... I will fix this later today. Thanks for informing me. Albert
