That song (Billy Boys) is still sung in stadiums during football matches. It's also very much still associated with anti-Irish hate ("we're up to our knees in Fenian blood"), so much that it's prohibited to sing it. Some people do it anyway of course
I mean, was he good? We didn't see much of him, there was the intro, his boxing matches, talking to Tommy, and his death, he seemed good as an actor but not enough screen time to say if he was worth watching as a character
And so, by bringing the Irish into play, they have no choice but to send her best soldier: "Well, fancy meeting ya here M I S T A H Shelby" says RoboCampbell in his final form
Nah, fuck that, Tommy was the one constantly talking shit about how "oh this one last thing, one last thing, one last thing, and then we're done and we'll become legitimate." He promised and Arthur promised repeatedly that they would give up the gang shit and go legit, and they had moments where they did but it never lasted. And instead of saying "Hey, we want to go legit, but we're too deep, maybe this is just how our lives are gonna be, if you want out you're free to leave" they kept telling bold ass lies about how things will be fine once they "do this one last thing". Their pride and Tommy's narcissism never let then admit they were never gonna be over the gang shit.
Tommy's suicidal thoughts make for some scenes that turned into memes, but when you're watching the show it's super dark. Cillian Murphy kills it, displaying no emotion at all, rage, utter despair... Peaky Blinders and Tommy as a character catch flak because the fanbase is cringe but it's all really good, actually
Bonnie's death is the most frustrating of the show to me, not only dude died merely as a message but he could've blasted the shit out of McCavern, and didn't because he thought that would doom their lives, not knowing he was dead either way
Oswald Moseley was a real person who basically wanted to be the British Hitler, and the Billy Boys were a real street gang from Glasgow Scotland with Protestant loyalist leanings that he hired as security/enforcers. Both were much more fucked up in real life than this show portrays.
unrelated but that billy boys theme song has mad history. theirs a football club called Rangers from Scotland who still sing it to this day especially against their biggest rivals (celtic)
Bonnie's murder really upset me because of how disturbing it was. I wasn't angry at the writers or anything but this season was so dark compared to others.
there's not a lot of moments in television that i need to look away but bonnie's death is one that i absolutely cannot watch. so incredibly tense - amazing writing and acting!
Here’s the thing about Lizzie, she didn’t want Tommy she wanted the powerful man. When she got him she realised she could never truly have him so she became very much a I want to have what’s mine. Even a simple line when she’s firing the gun shows her for who she is “Get away from MY house, get away from MY child” yet there are 2 children in the house. She has known and raised Charlie for the majority of his life yet she doesn’t view him as hers because it’s all about her now.
Ey now Sheera, no gettin' mad at the "in the kitchen and..." line from Arthur now, you had all that smoke earlier with the laughing about "I was just about to say! What if Tommy's kid ran into the minefield and blew up with bits of child parts everywhere huehuehuehuehue" earlier 💀
Her going "it's the time period, it's the time period..." is literally me trying to not get offended whenever I watch someone be misogynistic in a time period drama lmao
I don’t like the whole “ they knew what time it was” argument. I get that Lizzie and Linda should try and support them but this lifestyle is absolutely miserable. Even tho theyre rich and have everything they could ever want that doesn’t mean things are okay. With everything Linda has been put thru she’s done snow, massive alcohol and 10 ounces of stress daily. She’s right things could flip on Tommy like that which is why she’s so worried for Arthur and herself and child. This family is scary and cold hearted, id be stressed too
Then she should not marry a gangster, if she wanted a peaceful life. Everybody in Birmingham knows who Arthur is and she knows too. Also lizzie literally know Tommy for years and she suddenly didn't want any of it.
@@TkShainyTommy and Arthur over and over again, promised they were going to go legit and talked about how bad they wanted to be legit. And when they finally reach it, the moment they experience a setback, Tommy immediately says "fuck it all" and goes right back to the gang shit, dragging Arthur and everyone else down with him. Their wives knew who they were yes, but they also were told BY THEIR HUSBANDS that's not who they wanted to be, only it turns out they never truly wanted to go legit, and Tommy knows that, he just is too narcissistic and prideful to admit it. And instead of doing the manly thing and saying to their wives that they are probably in too deep, and maybe their wives should take their children somewhere safe to be free and happy, they abuse their wives, scare their children, and still continue to tell them lies about how it will all be fine.

Legend of The Peaky Blinders: The term used to describe a person who is a gangstah or as an insult to someone trying to be a gangstah, is a Peaky Blinder. According to legend, if you ask any cop or government officials of any kind, that includes the senator types, about the Peaky Blinders. They will deny that a group like that ever existed. BUT, if you go talk to the city from where the, Peaky Blinders are set to have originated from. And ask any of the elders, they will tell you many stories, give you names and places. Along with, that the only reason the government denied their existence is because the Peaky Blinders actually managed to influence that high up in the government. And yes, the majority of the Peaky Blinders were ex-military. So, because of the secret mayhem the Peaky Blinders caused, they were all basically killed or in prison.
