I sampled a lot of this line. It’s the ultimate influencer brand: great packaging, ultra high prices, French name but Middle Eastern owned/created, tons of free bottles, and an Influencer has her own bottle within the brand.
Sahraa and Parisian are both quite good and at 50-70% off could find their way into my collection but I have similar things that smell better.

@@daniell5740 don’t what? Have things that smell better than Sahraa or a Parisian? Well I own Roja Harrods Aoud that is in a similar vein and has kept me from pulling from buying that. For Sahraa I own probably a dozen rose ouds that compete with Sahraa, which is a good scent

Not even great packaging imo. Basic af font with tacky gold color. They’re trying to be the “next level up” for the basic PDM enjoyer.

Despite the all of the let downs, Oud Jaune Intense is gorgeous.

When I see a house that has fragrances with the name Producer Michael and Demi I immediately discard them. You are buying something luxurious, you are buying a name. It's like paying $20,000 for a Hermès belt.
People buy just to show off, the more expensive the better. And then they put the bottles on a shelf for people to look at and think: Wow, how rich he is, he has a collection of Fragrance Du Bois! And in the end you never smelled it, it's just for show... it could be empty, counterfeit bottles, so much so that people think you're rich.

Perhaps, the lack of the ability to detect the Oud is why ATH claimed there was no Oud utilized. And instead, Fragrance Du Bois just sent him a suit for simply making the statement.

Cheers Marc not tried anything from This house, I never felt fully inspired to invest in the expensive freebies given willy Nilly to So many, they must have a personal Oud plantation or something to afford that generosity. Haha haha 😂, Oh they have ,I hear you say lol 😝. Anyways I can clearly see this one just was ,as you and I and others in the know kinda expected . Great video and I guess nice to actually get a look at and sniff one of the bedazzled bottles and presentation, have a wonderful weekend man ,much appreciated ✌️👍🙏

I got a discovery set of maybe 8 of their scents and I liked a few of them. I remember liking Cavort, London Spice, and Secret Tryst, but would never pay the price for them. If they were $175-$200, I'd scoop them up. Oud Jaune Intense was a nice tropical frangipani bomb, though way too fem for me to ever use apart from a bedtime scent. PM was a crazy long-lasting green patchouli. It was nice at first but it became annoying after several hours and was hard to even scrub off.

Apparently a lot of the times FdB uses “White Oud” which if I remember right is the wood used to produce Oud without the infection to produce traditional Oud (which IMO is like giving someone a bottle of Perrier and calling it Coca-Cola). Also apparently they farm their own stuff.
IMO FdB fragrances are decent but don’t command the price they’re asking for. There’s a few gems as with all brands, Oud Jaune is a great summer scent IMO, gotta like florals though, but most are way over priced. Seemingly taking the British approach of using price point to produce exclusivity.

FDB has often spoken about their Oudhs and their Oud plantation. Here’s just one article from the Perfume Society website featuring an interview with FDB on the subject: “Fragrance Du Bois have taken a stand by putting themselves at the forefront of condemning the use of oudh from illegal sources - and, beyond that, have made it their mission to educate the perfume industry and fragrance buyers alike. ‘Only pure oudh oil, produced from trees nurtured and managed on our own plantations, is used in our fragrances,’ they explain. ‘This means that we can absolutely guarantee that it is from a sustainable and ethical source.’”

I own several from this house as well as many from clive, roja, over 30 from boadicea the victorious, bortnikoff as well other indie and artisan houses and FBD quality is up with the best of this bunch. The misconception is that all ouds are supposed to be overly robust, fecal, animalic, barnyard etc and thats simply not the case.

They say they have real oud which I’m sure is true but they completely evade the question of the amount of oud used. I suspect the amount is very minimal to keep cost low which is why it’s hard to smell it in most of their fragrances too. Another marketing gimmick that many people not familiar with oud might fall for.

I'm leary of any product that tries to set itself apart by its packaging. From the numerous boxes, to the fake jewels added to the cap. It seems the sole purpose of these trappings is to justify the high price. Other brands, such as Chanel and Dior, can draw a high price for some of their fragrances, and a reputation as a high quality fragrance, without using fancy boxes and plastic decorations on the cap.
