It wasn't until Shiyi entered his life that he finally fell in love. Hearing how his wife is genuinely helping the refugees has changed his opinion on women working outside of the home. He even decided to put up a booth to protect her without her knowledge. He really loves Shiyi/is willing to do anything to see her happy. I love it
@@peonyrose9435 if it was left up to his mother he would've continued to live a loveless life with all of his concubines and Lianfang as his legal wife. He would've been in hell. His late wife did him a huge favor when she eliminated Lianfang from the running to be his next wife and chose Shiyi. She was trying to secure her son's future but she inadvertently gave them the best gift possible. She changed the entire family especially Lingyi.
He was great. It was so unexpected considering he was raised by his witch of a mother/a useless father. It was a pleasant surprise to see him taking care of his sisters. He even helped Lingyi/Shiyi expose Lianfang. I really liked his character.

Thank you for posting. I have been looking for this scene for so long and i finally found it. Finally admitting to himself and to his trusted aide about his feeling and his "weakness' but right in the next scene, his trust in that person is suddenly taken away. Wow!

Shiyi's brother is a real nice character. Tries to care for his sisters.
