I can't wait to see the long term videos, awesome car on the best review channel. I guess we will be your support group as the maintenance woes pile up....
Great review! I've got a 2013 S4 manual, sports diff - absolutely in love with it. Looking forward to more videos from you guys. Review of aftermarket parts would be especially welcomed!
Wow - slip the clutch much?! 2:10 sec - yikes! All the B8's are 40/60 split for power... not just the 13s+... I agree with you on what you say about the sport diff... the clutch is actually the weak point on these cars... nice review on the whole. Cool you guys got a long term S4. Come to AudiZine for info on how to mod it!
I look forward to your ongoing ownership review on the S4. I looked on your channel and nothing so far - when do you plan to post it? Also, are you planning to chip one of the cars?
Kevin, when will you give your full, long-term review of the 2014 Audi S4? It has already been more than a year since the original Test Drive (above). Nice review of the 6-speed manual transmission and rear sport differential. Thanks!
I have to ask, how is the s4 manual as a commuter car, one that will live in traffic? Would a 7 speed automatic with paddle shifting be more enjoyable if one will encounter an abundance of daily traffic? I am torn as i do love the feeling of absolutely controling my car; the melding of man and machine as it were.
Hi Mr. Kevin Gorden, I really appreciate your real world reviews of the car(how the car will feel to the user is very important). We all know the numbers. What important is how is living with the car. Can you please do a Review of Audi S6 VS Audi A6 TDI. They have similar torque although ofcourse power is different, but the mid range torque is similar (which is mostly used in passing or getting on the freeway) If you do not do Comparisons, may be you can do 2 diff reviews :P thanks
They are pretty different cars. The power delivery is about the same, but with the 8-speed ZF in the BMW it doesn't feel quite as direct. (That isn't to say that the ZF unit is bad, its as good as an auto gets) With the new steering tech and rear suspension in the BMW it just isn't as direct and alive as it used to be. With that said, it is still a great car, that handles like a RWD car should. The S4 feels a bit more special, but isn't any faster than a 335.
The S4 in this video sounds like it has an aftermarket exhaust. I don't remember my 2014 S4 with this much resonance in the cabin. And the pseudo-engine track produced by the Soundaktor device should only be noticeable at higher RPMs, but this S4 has some throaty note to it even at cruising speeds. Am I wrong?
There is nothing to fry or be careful with the manual and quattro. Drive like you normally would, of course revving the engine and dumping the clutch would just be stupid, but that is common knowledge and no one would ever do that as these babies have enough torque without it. One has to applaud audi to still sell this type of cars (and even A6) with true manual boxes, and really the stability of full time constant AWD is unbeatable in snow, on poor roads or in sudden changes of traction conditions - besides, the automatic tiptronic or dsg is way less reliable even without, and worse with quattro.
For a given price, the A6 would be a lesser equipped car. Also, not everyone wants a car that A6 sized...I certainly don't. A big saloon serves me no purpose when 99.9% of the time I'm in the car by myself. What should I care about rear leg room?
Which version of the A6 are you referring to...the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder or the 3.0 liter 6 cylinder? For me at least, the 2.0 liter A6 is underpowered for a car its size, and the 3.0 version is just not "sporty" enough. Would you believe, the base version of the much larger A8 has the same 3.0 liter supercharged engine as the S4 and the A6 3.0, and that car reasonably equipped costs $35K more than the S4 Premium Plus!!
As an Audi enthusiast I absolutely love the fact that you will be going really in depth with the S4, you couldn't have chosen better!
This video should be the reference standard for future S4 buyers. Thank you.
This is an excellent video for anyone in the market for a manual audi s4. All my questions have been answered.

i have a 2014 S4 (glacier/magma red), no sports diff, not a stick. some say my version isn't even sellable :( the car is life changing in my eyes!

Great Review. I love the Manual Transmission and hope it will be around in Audi cars for a long time.
Hands Down Best Reviews On TH-cam!! 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport (RWD) Anytime Soon?
and congrats on the new long term car

Shift more like a honda as in "Honda S2000" - one of the best manuals ever

Excellent camera angles (interior). Competitors should take note.. Thanks.

Burned the clutch at 2:10
+Diego Eduardo yup, can smell it from here

2:10 is not good for the clutch O.o
Maybe he thought .. he was revmatching??
Not a great manual driver

Good review thanks!!
Would you mind upshifting?
Very good review,
well done
Thank you for the informative review. My question to you is, why did you choose the DCT over the 6 speed manual for your long term test car?
Awesome car, and a great review! Thanks!
very nice review!
I'd love to know what long term economy he got with "his" car. Even more I'd like to know how he got on after he discovered the remaining few gears
The aftermarket that has developed around it among a few other things that we'll talk about in our review.
You should review the A4 manual

Nice purchase! Did you get the manual and the $1250 diff?
Don't you want to know how many times you can use launch control before it gives up?
can't find the "super long" review he's mentioning at the ending :///
does your long term test car come with the DCT or the manual?
thanks.
Where are you guys? No activity or information for years...
Have you driven the BMW 335?, if so, how does the Audi S4 compare?
No! We got a dual clutch. Stay tuned for the rest.
Really nice car 🚙 thanks for dressing professional as well cause I’m tired of seeing people do YT videos in plan clothes
Where is the full Review?? Its been over a year..
I suppose that's acceptable considering how good Audi's DCT is but still I would have kept it original! And I sure will!
Lateral acceleration 140/ 120 split front to rear burning up rubber
well done sir
i'd take the s tronic over the 6spd. great car though

aah yeah and of course congrats for the reasonable purchase, hope you chose the sport dif option - the proud owner of a 2008 A6 allroad quattro 6 sp.
hope you leased it.
What world happen to 2.7 turbo. Thought it would be 3.0 4cylinder not a v6. That's cool but not alright
For all that go for A6

Yeah sure, how many?
Did he really just say the transmission could be a "little more 'Honda' like"? You lost me there bud.
You just brought one of the most tune-able cars ever! Watch this if you haven't already seen it: /watch?v=2KfMY96v_Gc
Make you miss how b4 was made
dual clutch.
....review of sport differential... Not s4...
Please let the revs drop when you shift lol
