EDIT: Hard to believe that it's now been 6 YEARS since this was uploaded. As we bring 2022 to a close, it's gotten more than 2 MILLION VIEWS which is absolutely crazy! Still a fantastic song to come back to!

I'm really sad Tristam didn't release this with a story, but this is easily the most dominant novel in the Cat Empire series so far, which is saying something.
Some fan theories claim that this is actually all told in different times by different people, but given this is the first time we get to know exactly how Tristam came about Monstercat I can't really see how that could work.
It all fits together really well in terms of how I understand it, but it's a bit hard to reconcile.
On the topic of Tristam's career, I've never been a big fan of the mega label movement, with all the recent obsession with artists becoming household names and the monolithic nature of most labels.

Stop using MP3 downloaders or any other online download site. They are a scam!
The best downloader in existence is youtube-dl, which is an *open source* (this is important) downloader for a bunch of sites such as TH-cam, SoundCloud, and much more.
Probably all those shitty online downloader sites use youtube-dl as backend, and so to not fall for their scam, you must learn to use youtube-dl yourself instead of relying on these scam websites.
Also, as to how I am claiming these sites are a scam, let me prove it. So, many of these sites give you MP3 files, right? Let me tell you something. TH-cam does not use MP3, so a site which gives you an MP3 of a TH-cam video must have transcoded the audio from TH-cam (which is Opus or AAC) into an MP3, which *degrades the audio quality*.
If you want the best quality possible of a TH-cam video, use youtube-dl, which downlaods the videos directly off of TH-cam (or other sites) without transcoding or other kind of nonsense.
youtube-dl may be hard to use because it is a command line utility. Just remember that to download a video's audio, use the command "youtube-dl -f bestaudio URL", where URL should be replaced with the URL to the video you want to download. This downloads the audio stream with the highest bitrate (sometimes this can be incorrect, as Opus may sometimes be better than AAC at certain bitrates, but this may be subjective. Look into it if you want to know more.)
BTW, TH-cam uses Opus and AAC as the audio codecs for videos, and not MP3.
MP3 is also a very outdated codec anyway. Use it with caution, as it performs very badly compared to more modern codecs. Especially at low bitrates. At high bitrates, MP3 is still acceptable.
An example of more modern codecs is Opus and AAC. AAC is the official successor to MP3, as it's supposed to be used along with AVC inside MP4 videos. Opus might be better than AAC, though. Opus is also royalty-free, while AAC is not, if I remember correctly. But most devices support AAC anyway, so it's probably not a huge deal. (Rip HEVC though)
I also downloaded the MP3 of this video from that site you listed, as well as an Opus file I downloaded with youtube-dl.
To demonstrate that the quality of MP3 is worse, I used a program called spek to view the spectrogram of each file.

As you can see, MP3 cuts off high frequencies, while Opus does not (well, it does cut off at 20KHz, but 20KHz is the maximum a human can hear so it doesn't matter).
Also, I said earlier that youtube-dl is an open source downloader. The reason why it is important that something is open source (especially video downloaders), is that there is less of a chance it is a scam. Most open source downloaders are sane, and download the original Opus, AAC, VP9, or H.264 stream of TH-cam videos, while many commercial or freeware downloaders convert the audio stream to MP3. Open source software also does not contain ads.
I hope you have taken the time to read this very long comment. I am very annoyed by all these scam download sites out there, and I want to make everyone aware of the truth.
Also, if your anti-malware solution blocks the uguu.se domain, unblock it. Imgur sucks and compresses images down to JPEG, and since I don't have access to a private file host, I have to live with these annoyances. uguu.se keeps it as png which is nice, but for some reason Bitdefender thought it was a phishing domain.
I hope TH-cam won't mark this comment as spam because of these links.

Gonna make a wild prediction here today: Monstercat’s 10th Anniversary is coming up soon… what are the chances Tristam finally drops Moonlight officially then? Maybe as a final goodbye from the label? Perhaps this is wishful thinking, but I think it’d be the most perfectly-poetic way to end the first part of his career and move forward into this new age/sound of Tristam.
