GD has endured too much in this life . He released his song at 21 and to those who dont know him may sound like why he talks about remember back in the day. He has been in the industry since he was 7 . By 21 he had already experienced so much strugle , work , fight for his dream to fill a lifetime for others. This song is really meaningful and will always be relevant because is him holding in his heart that child with a dream that he was. Motte concert had like 3 parts . Songs like A boy were in the first part representing his begining as an artist. The ending part was about his strugle to define his own identity , make peace , find balance between the idol GDragon and the human Kwon Ji Yong . Pain and more pain . Poor guy can never get a break . He gets incredible amount of hate for being different. It was a fight in 2009 , in 2017 and is still a fight . Is really unfair.
The way i feel the same way…its like he always needs to fight fir his way for things he actually deserves already

GD released 4 shoe modes with Nike and a clothing line . The Paranoise are a custom form of Air Firce 1 but Kwondo is a totaly new shoe model that GD designed . New Balance made him a custom shoe too . One pair , just for him .
gdragon had multiple big brand creating custom things for him. people who had been Korean music industry knows he joined the industry since he was 6yo if I'm not mistaken, since he was a kid, some artists said he was built different. he debuted in 2006 with bigbang, but he been producing, writing & rapping earlier.
2009, well bigbang definitely was not the typical kpop in that era. they were very different than the rest of the most popular kpop groups during that era. and they weren't afraid being different. the pioneers indeed.
One thing about YG artist is that they re work songs for concerts and more often than not they use a live band. So the studio versions will sound differently

Your discussion on comparisons etc are really interesting - and yeah its the deepcuts and b sides that really shine with GD.
Also your commentary on Kpop copying trends isnt inaccurate, its an interesting topic. And gd/BB did have western style inspired songs, but they also innovated, whilst respecting their influences which were rooted in american hophop/R&B.
If you look at their old releases at their debut like Goodbye Baby and Only Fools of Tears, We Belong Together - they were straight up B2B etc infuenced, still a complete bop though
