    Thanks again, Andrea! I made this one up with cedarwood instead of cypress purposely since my sinuses are dried out and inflamed from the over the counter meds. I really wanted to stop taking them and all that's left from my cold is sinus pressure and pain. After two deep inhales( I made up the inhaler first), the pain is going away already! I'm very delicate with my sinus passages since I'm a sensitive person with all chemicals.

    My lingual tonsils suck really bad. It's so hidden. I only knew it's problematic after I got a laryngoscopy from my ENT.
    Because of the lingual tonsils behind the base of my tongue, I have been feeling a lumpiness at the back of my throat as well as constant phlegm/mucus for the past 4 months it's so irritating.

    Hello mam! I have a quick question! I have been suffering with blocked sinuses for years(thick brick like mucus) and am planning to use eucalyptus oil to get relief. I heard this is a very good one for congestion. Do you think this alone will be effective for treating sinus issue? Lastly, how do you dispose the water with oils in it? Can we just pour down any sink without any issues? Thank you! I loved your video!

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  ปีที่แล้ว

      Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) would be an excellent oil to use to help with relief from sinus congestion using a steam! Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) would be great to add with it. Here's a link to the show notes for this video which include the full recipe, if you want to give that a try: info.aromahead.com/show-notes-sinus-relief-steam
      After using a steam, you can safely pour the water with essential oils down the drain.
      Hope this helps! 💜

    This is beautiful thank you. Should you not want to use it right away, how long would it last in the jar?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question, Haley! A blend’s shelf life is determined by the ingredient with the shortest shelf life. All essential oils eventually oxidize and therefore "expire". Heat, light and oxygen slowly cause oxidation. Some oxidize over a year or two, some can last for 5 or more years, and some last even longer than that. Here’s more information from Robert Tisserand: roberttisserand.com/2013/07/lemon-on-the-rockskeep-your-essential-oils-cool/
      We would suggest contacting the company you purchased your oils from for more precise information on the shelf life or expiry dates of their products. 💜

    how about a little warning as far as using eucalyptus if you suffer from high blood pressure. Just like those over the counter nasal sprays, the eucalyptol works by constriction of the capillaries in your nasal passage to reduce swelling and inflammation due to irritation of many different sorts. this effect, although is targeted at your nasal capillaries, it does enter those capillaries and has a system wide effect, causing an increase in your blood pressure. If used over a long period of time by someone already suffering from hypertension, this can lead to unintended consequences.

    Hi Andrea ! Can we replace rosemary essential oil in place of cypress essential oil and will this be useful for migraine headache 🤕?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Stella! Yes, Rosemary would be a lovely substitute for Cypress in this recipe. It’s challenging for us to make a suggestion for migraines, because each individual person can react so differently to the oils’ aromas. Some find the scents to be just perfect, while others find them not appealing at all. We find Frankincense helps a lot of people with migraines.
      This steam recipe may be helpful for you. You could also try 2 drops of Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), 7 drops of Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia), 3 drops of Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct. 1,8-cineole), and 3 drops of Siberian Fir (Abies sibirica) in an inhaler and see how that goes. 💜

      ***** I never even noticed that part under the video. Thank you :) So if I was to make a rub, I'd still make the stock blend, but the adustments might look like this..... cypress-25, Tea tree - 25, Eucalyptus Rad, 12, and lavender- 13? then when making a rub from that blend... put 8-10 of those mixed drops into a 1 oz CO or cream...

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI Debora Cadene, I'm using Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) in this blend. It is a bit softer in its aroma then eucalyptus globulus. You can always check right below the video for the written transcription of the video and all the oils are listed there. Yes, this would work very well in a chest rub. You could mix 10-12 drops of this blend in one ounce of carrier oil for anyone over 10 years of age. If it is a bad cold you might try 15-18 drops/ounce.

      Hi John! There are many wonderful essential oils that offer sinus relief. As an alternative we would suggest Peppermint (Mentha x piperita), or Rosemary ct camphor (Rosmarinus officinalis ct camphor), or conifers such as Black Spruce essential oil (Picea mariana) or Balsam Fir essential oil (Abies balsamea).
      Steaming with just 1 drop of either of those oils can be beneficial to open the sinuses and reduce congestion.
      Oregano is a strong essential oil that should be used cautiously as it is known to irritate the mucous membrane.

      eg, oregano oil can be quite irritating to the mucus membranes. I might use it in a blend to be used in a diffuser but not in a steam blend as steaming is a more aggressive way to administer the oils to the respiratory system and can be irritating with more gentle oils for some people.

    can this be applied to the skin

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Blanca! We recommend diluting essential oils in carrier oils before applying them topically as essential oil can cause irritation to the skin. In general for adults, we suggest a 2% dilution - 1 oz (30 ml) of carrier with 10 to 12 drops of essential oils.
      Another way great way to use this stock blend is to put 15 drops in a blank Aromatherapy inhaler and carry that with you to use throughout the day.

      I do have a few videos for headaches. Here is one th-cam.com/video/Q23ayOMxwAI/w-d-xo.html. You can also do a search putting in Aromahead and headaches. I don't have a video for eczema but I have had good results using some of the great natural carriers to help support the skin.

    Andrea, how long do you hold the towel over your head. My grandmother did this type of thing with pine needles and sat for a while like 20 minutes. Also which singular drop could I use since I don't have a beaker to measure the 25 drops (could do it one drop at a time, I suppose)

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ilse Wenzel, you can count out each drop. It takes just a bit longer but works just as well. I usually stay under the towel for about 3-5 minutes but you could stay under longer if you'd like.

      Peter Pan that is often the case. You might try adding some lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) to this blend to help with sleep. I would add 25 drops to the stock blend and then the 1 drop you use in his steam will have some calming effects to help with his sleep. You might also try this recipe th-cam.com/video/_QktN9Xstv8/w-d-xo.html

      For sure, Cancer Warriors! This works really well in a diffuser if you don't want to steam or want to use it in congress with steaming.

    Which of the Eucalyptus oils do you use for this blend?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) in this blend. It is a bit softer in its aroma then eucalyptus globulus. You can always check right below the video for the written transcription of the video and all the oils are listed there.

    I don't really get allergy symptoms, but lately I'm suffering from ear pressure, like I'm in an airplane for hours with no relief. Antihistamines have helped a ton but the pressure is kind of coming back in one ear, do you think this might work? :)

      Secret Dusk, yes you could try this blend to help with ear pressure. Opening up the respiratory system can help to open the ears too. Please let me know how it goes for you.

    When I put the eucalyptus oil in I stop smelling it after 1-2 inhales. Is this normal and should I keep adding oil in there or just put a couple drops in total?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jarrod Findon, you could add more of the eucalyptus to the stock blend but it is natural to sense the aroma after a few inhales. It is still working even though you might not be able to detect a specific aroma.

    When using this steam method does the essential oil need to be diluted with a carrier oil?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rachael! To do an essential oil steam you simply add 1 drop of the essential oil stock blend to a bowl of steamy water. Then close your eyes, lean over the bowl and breathe in!

      I'm sorry, Gold Vulcan. You might try steaming a few times a day for 3-5 days to see if this helps to break up the congestion. Sometimes it takes a few days if you have severe congestion.
