Never had the new 1783 at 90P that is claimed to be 6-8yrs on BB & they claim the BT is 8-10yr.. Anyway, as far as price & value between 2 markets I live in on east & west coast, the EW 1783 1.75L ranges from $30-34 & BT 1.75L is $52-63. So unless you just want the best nose, the EW seems like the clear choice, not mention EW BiB is $28 & beat BT in a blind I did.

If you like a high-rye bourbon it's a gem; imo the 4Roses $22/btl basic beats buffalo trace as an everyday sipper. BT is good, well made and complex, but has enough flaws (low body, odd finish) to fall a couple notches.

@@JE-western-rider Sacrilege! You need a RYE whiskey to make a real Manhattan(look up the history). and MM has zero rye (it's not even a real bourbon by my reckoning). Try a Manhattan w Pikeville rye, Antica vermouth, Bada-bing cherries(& juice) and angosterna bitters. You can thank me later. PB&J! We get a surprising amount of coconut on the 1783. It’s like a fluffernutter and swings well above the $20 price point. We have a similar feeing on the Dickel. We suspect it could do some damage in the right flight, but we haven’t found that flight yet. Cheers!

Where I am in North Texas, I can get Buffalo Trace for the mid 20's - don't get mad people! My favorite 90º to 94º bottles are Eagle Rare, 1792 Small Batch, Elijah Craig, or the Weller Special Reserve. Love to see you match them up against the Buffalo Trace. Eagle Rare is a little hard to find for me, but is still sub $30 if I am lucky.

Third and fourth places are $35 bottles, 2nd place is a $19 bottle and 1st place is $25. Higher price doesn't necessarily mean better.

I totally agree. I get 1.75 l bottles of 1783 for 32 bucks in my area. I keep them on hand also Evan Williams 100 is 30 for a 1.75. Heavy hitters easy on the wallet.

@@jimbokyzar8170 Unfortunately they don't offer those two in a 1.75 liter in my area. Only the 750s. They used to years ago, but not anymore, dammit!

Not a fan of Four Roses bourbons. It's just my flavor preference. I always find the taste to be a bit monotone, and astringent. A bit too much burn for my taste. I do like the EW 1783 quite a bit. Ok on it's own and a great mixer because of the vanilla and brown sugar notes. Will try the other two soon.
