to figure rivet body length you take the size of the hole and multiply that by 1.5 then add the thickness of the material you are fastening.. i fixed pnuematic and pnuedralic riveters for 20yrs, also if you change the nose tip and it still wont pull your rivet then you need to replace the jaws inside the "pull collect" so they grip the stem of the rivet you are pulling...
