This looks great, imma get some leather dye to make my slates really pop out. Sanding them really improves the look of it. Thanks for this, I can't wait to see how they come out.

Really good video and well explained. I never new you could sand the slate smooth which gives it a really nice look. I've used black leather dye on woodturning items before, but this is brilliant on the slate. Nice discovery and I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Thank you for the kind words. I was very happy with the way the dye effected the slate. So glad I stumbled onto doing it. Although it is more effort to sand down the slate it does make it look much better. Let me know how it turns out. Enjoy!

@@baronleathercraft YES SIR absolutely! I just got my laser in about a month ago and i have been doing nothing but practice on different types of materials and i gotta say Slate and Tiel are my favorite so far!

@@tylerproffitt3132 I agree! Slate comes out great and is simple. Plus I find just about everyone thinks they are cool. Leather also engraves very well. I do not deal to much with wood yet but I would like to start. I assumed you meant tile, I just bought some white ceramic tile and also bought some Titanium Dioxide and I am going to give it a try. What kind of tile are you engraving.?

@@baronleathercraft ceramic comes out very clean and super easy to clean the char on it. I typically have been painting it first then adjusting and doing my engraving and etching

Looks great! Did you throw another coat of Deft on at the end or just before engraving?

Thank you for the question. Just before engraving.
