Using Archaon is like playing boss battle where you are the boss.
There is a mod for several characters called spell choice for (insert hero) and its such a good mod for Archaon since you can just choose crazy strong spell combos and just go nuts in the campaign. Its great fun when you just wanna mess around.
I've loved Archaon since game one even when he wasn't very cost effective, I'm glad he's an absolute beast in Campaign and Multiplayer now, he beats the breaks off of most LL in combat, very few can withstand him.
Once the Hellpit reaches 0% health, it either automatically heals a bunch of hp or dies instantly and summons Skavenslaves. Literally 50/50.
Actually it triggers at 10% HP. The 50% miscast chance is what's rolled to determine if it lives or self nukes. Like with HE's Phoenixes this instant death miscast explosion can hit other units if they're too close (in the case of single entities this is automatic death. Multi-entity units only lose 1 model).
@@NekoboyBlue The explosion effect is one of the most stupid mechanics. I lost so many lords and didn't know why in campaign
I'm really surprised that we aren't seeing more Skaven players utilizing summon spams with Lore of Plague. It's incredibly useful for bogging down valuable enemy units and blocking your opponent's reinforcements off of the points.
I feel like you'd want jezzails or ratling guns for WoC but it seems skaven have one of the most diverse rosters but least variety in playstyle in the competitive setting. The have so many cool units that never ever get used
For real. Jezzails feel idea for taking out both exalted heroes and aspiring champions, both the centerpiece units Turin highlighted. Not to mention real good for clearing armored trolls.

I would argue thats more on the players than the faction itself. Jezzails absolutely would've been a good pick here. Even if Turin went like Festus and giants they would've been powerful, maybe moreso. But I definitely understand how such a wide roster means its easy to overlook a lot of units.
@@williampounds5191 you're right, and that is actually the point I meant to make is it's sad how competitive-minded people get that they overlook actual useful options in a faction with plenty, in favor of just the same things over and over that don't work well in all scenarios. I'm not even a skaven main but one of my first wins in MP was my skaven versus WoC. Stormvermin Halberds would've been so good here too
@@drthrax78 jezails and the natty bubo in particular were played nearly every single skaven game for the last like 3 years. Maybe you just aren't seeing them as much recently, but they definitely still get played I don't know why y'all think they don't.
Feels like we haven't seen any Skaven since the patch nerfed their cheese. I missed the dirty rats.

@Turin would the warshrine of Nurgle not be good with archaon or Kholek. Feel like that piece has been unexplored. Just a little bit of healing for your chaos bros
Seems like jezzails would be really good in this matchup if chaos is likely to bring exalted heroes and aspiring champions. They should be excellent at clearing both and are still competent at shooting any other elite threats chaos might bring.
Jezzails seem like an obvious pick for all the powerful chaos warrior compositions right now, baffled we haven't seen more of them. They're powerful against lords, heroes, giants, aspiring champions. All things what we see pulling the weight in that faction. Ratling gunners to a degree as well. Globes really only seem to be useful against marauders and those are not what are winning games for chaos, maybe warriors and chosen as well but ratling gunners and jezzails are no slouches against them either.
The problem is you can't really defend them against anything that's not as slow as nurgle or dwarf

Turin I think in December we'll get the Nurgle Hero caster with the Nurgle v Empire v Dwarfs DLC. I hope to see many a build with Kholek and a nurgle caster for healing!
Are we ever going to see a Kholek battle? Is he really that bad?
I dont know how he lines up competitively but i do know against skaven in particular its a huge risk because he is a MASSIVE target for weapon teams and can get deleted by focus fire, its the same agqinst empire
I think he'd be ok vs vampire counts. Nothing there to snipe him

kholek got rly nerfed going into w3 while most other units got buffed.
he got swapped+24 meele defence hold your ground ability for more dmg ability. the thing is he doesnt need that dmg, at this point hes just glass cannon. he does barely more dmg than archoan, doesnt have those +24/24 AoE abilities, is much slower, has not even 2k more hp and you need to still bring a mage. For the same cost you pay for archaon.
Oh and archaon is WAY faster. Kholek used to outrun all but skirmish cav, now brettonia and he cav is faster than him, while most others have simmilar speed. For that cost you can get gigabuffed giants. 2 of them. they have over 12k hp each, while khoelk has not even 9k. He got powercreeped so hard out of this game its sad.
Hey Turin, if I’m not mistaken, the Nurgle fighter heroes for WoC have a bound AoE Nurgle healing spell with two casts, so you can still get a little healing without bringing Festus or a Nurgle lord
I hope he sees this so his dream might finally come true.
They do not get that ability in MP.

I suspect CA does not allow Nurgle Sorcerer heroes for balance reasons.

When we get the Nurgle DLC, it'll most likely come with a Chaos Lord of Nurgle and a Chaos Sorcerer of Nurgle, so you may get your wish of Archaon healing! Khorne doesn't use Sorcerers but otherwise any Lord/Sorcerer was eligible for any mark, and I expect we'll get a complete set eventually.
I genuinely don't think we'll ever get a hero that can use lore of nurgle unfortunately. An inexpensive healing mage that allows all of the other excellent chaos lord choices would legitimately be too powerful. A lord of nurgle I definitely hope is on the table though! It would likely have armor piercing and a piece of equipment to regenerate like the nurgle sorcerer lord and could be an alternative to sigvald... but with armor piercing!
I believe you are right, but in adition to that I hope the new lord and hero options of each god will be a bit more unique, with effects and items different from the currently available options.
Especially for Nurgle I hope he gets some more tools for his roster in general. Maybe something to increase his chances in competative play.

Aspiring champs take forever to lose a single model, makes them just soo good.

Note to Archaon self - kill the warlock engineer first.
Do one of those epic 2v2 tournies and play Archeon on WoC with some Healer from the other faction.
can mod the skaven effect so it applies on lord death not loss ^^
