I hope you do a Madonna week 2. She has sooooo many huge hits from not only the 80’s but also the 90’s and 00’s. In the USA her first top 10 hit was on 1984 and her last was in 2012. She has a total of 38 top 10 hits and 12 no.1 hits. She is also the highest selling female recording artist of all time selling 350 million records

She has recently told on her 40th anniversary Celebration Tour, she couldn't afford an appartment with bathroom and a shower back in her early years in NYC, so she used to date guys who had aps with showers......"yeah! blow jobs for showers" she punchlined......😂

I was dancing to this song in a club back in the 80s, and yes, there's smoke machine and people smoking cigarettes, it was disgusting, the first thing you do when you get home is to take a shower and get that rank out of you.
It's the theme song from Madonna's first movie, "Desperately Seeking Susan". A fun movie worth watching if not for anything, as a time capsule of NYC in the 80's, Madonna practically played herself "the cool bohemian 80's chick from New York.
This song is a definite bop, part of the "Like a Virgin" era, even if the song wasn't included in the US release. It's an amazing song to dance to 38 years later.
Please please please do another Madonna week, you will not regret it. 🙏
I have suggestions if you want 😀

Best dance song of the 80's no contest. Even Billboard magazine backs me up. I still eat and smoke in bed and in public places(many ways to do that without being treated like a criminal cause yr smoking a fucking cigarette!!?). This song still trumps any dance song out there today more than 30 years after its release. It's a timeless masterpiece. Bitch she's Madonna! From the brilliant movie Desperately Seeking Susan from 1985 starring a pretty unknown Madonna(basically playing herself). It was during the making of this movie that the worldwide Madonna madness and mania hit like a nuclear bomb. Within a year of this she was the most famous woman in the world and the rest is history. Into the Groove was recorded and used in the movie and the song blew up all around the world after that. It was only the b-side to the Angel single off Madonna's Like a Virgin album so it was never "officially" released in America as a single. But after the song went to number one all around the world(and became a dance club phenomenon and staple in America and every dance club on earth) the song was played in heavy rotation on American radio and because of its incredible success it has always been considered as an official Madonna single. Since then it has been included as an official track on later pressings of the Like a Virgin album(which sold almost 30 million copies). Watch Desperately Seeking Susan-it perfectly captures and evokes the don't give a fuck, free, gritty and multi cultural melting pot that NY was in the 80's. It is a great film. J

I was oo young to get into he clubs, but all clubs were smoking. When I was old enough to go to clubs, every club had people smoking and it reeked of smoke. The guy playing Madonna's(Susan's) bf who is sitting next to her in the movie theater, walking up the ladder, and by the pinball machine is Canadian actor Robert Joy best known as a medical examiner for the CSI:NY series. The evil character with the yellowish hair can be seen in The Punisher film with John Travolta. When I started clubbing, people could still smoke in clubs. You’d often get burned on the dance floor - sometimes a shirt would end up with a hole in it. I’d always want a shower when I got home, as I’d stink of smoke (I’m a non-smoker). Those were the days…

  • @jjhall1963

  • @walterhigo7658

    Yep,
Smoking was allowed back then, not only in Clubs, but also in airplanes, movie theaters (Believe it or not) and even in Banks. Like a teller at the bank could have a cigarette in his mouth while servicing you, and that was perfectly ok. Sometimes the smoke would be so dense inside the club would be so bad, people literally had to go out side to catch some fresh air.

The film, "Desperately seeking Susan", was starring by Aidan Quinn and Rosanna Arquette but Madonna was also in, she was Susan! It's a love comedy, nothing special, but very 80s!
I thinkk Madonna didn't smoke, or not much, but for the role of a badass girl she smoked on the screen...in the 80s was normal to smoke everywhere...
Funny thing is the scene in the room when after eating and smoking, she laid down on the floor taking SELFIES!!! with a polaroid! she invented the selfies! hahahaha

This video was based on the film 'Desperately Seeking Susan,' Madonna's breakout film, her performance outshining the lead actress Rosanna Arquette. I really don't have great memories of the 80s because of the conservative politics via the Reagan WH. Otherwise, some aspects of the decade was colorful and fun (e.g. the fashion was gloriously tacky). Best thing from the 80s Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, to name a few. The base in this song is amazing!

  • @sinansermet

Making fun of such a great song she wrote and first time produced and gave a signature to the 80s was such a disrespect to her and her song. Just liked the video for itself not for the reaction. I would like to watch your reactions to the crap being "produced" nowadays.
