It's ridiculous to me that Silent Hill: Homecoming is banned in Australia for a single gory death yet games like Until Dawn are allowed in Australia even though EVERY SINGLE DEATH in Until Dawn is gorier and more realistic than the death in SIlent Hill. I love my country but holy shit some of our laws fucking ridiculous.
The game was censored in Australia not outright banned and games weren't allowed to have the R18+ rating until 2013 which is why Until Dawn isn't banned
Fun fact: Australia almost banned the final cut of Disco Eysluim because of the the drugs in the game, they only unbanned it because they found out that taking drugs has negative effects on your character.
The majority of games that are banned in Australia are because of drugs ( only that give positive effects and views )which is stupid imo bc if it has drugs its not for kids so who tf cares
Quite interesting that Rapelay is still one of the most known controversial Japanese adult games. Yet, if we look even slightly deeper, we could make hours of iceberg on what could be considered controversial Japanese adult games.
I'm not sure why Rapelay is even controversial anymore, when the very same company (Illusion) made _Playhome,_ where you break into the house and SA the wife and daughters of the guy who put you (the antagonist) away in jail.....for SA. _Playhome_ is even worse imho but that's just me.
@@leepicgamer3320 because context matters with killing. Context means nothing when the crime is rape or any sexual crime. Many shooter games are based around soldiers fighting for a cause, or a wounded protagonist seeking vengeance for a wrong done onto them. While these may not be the best reasons to kill someone, there’s a reason why in damn near every country, there are contexts where you can kill and not be in a shred of trouble. There is not a single narrative you could right that would justify rape in any capacity.
6:58 "Hey, this is a really screwed up game. And what if kids see this?" Custer's Revenge Creator: "Oh, just tell them it's something else." "Wouldn't it make more sense to just change the box art? Or better yet, not even make the game like this in this first place?" Custer's Revenge Creator: "...No."
The Native American game is so much more vile when you realise that the ‘main character’ is a real person who contributed to Native American massacres 😕
What’s kind of ironic about Night Trap is when it was first released, Nintendo said they wouldn’t allow the game to be released or played on their consoles, but in 2017 they released the 25th Anniversary version of Night Trap…on the Nintendo Switch.
The Columbine one was so messed up. I remember hearing about that one. Eric Harris was a psychopath and would have people regardless, and Dylan Klebold was a follower who having met Eric was kind of like a perfect storm. My dad's ex-girlfriend was friends with the Klebolds and Dylan used to watch her kids and she even said that he changed once he got around Eric. It's still sick for someone to make a videogame based off something like a school shooting, especially when it was still so fresh and caused a chain reaction of copy cats. Edit: I'm not excusing any behavior of either of them, just watched a lot of stuff on Columbine and from knowing someone who knew one of the killers personally, Eric was more in charge of the shooting than Dylan, but they both had issues and no one did anything. They knew a year beforehand about Eric planning another incident, and the police didn't do anything, his parents didn't do anything.
My biggest objection is that the game is acting like the whole thing was a big joke. This appeals to a young (mostly) male audience who are adapting to puberty. Even if they don’t act out after playing it, it still teaches them really unhealthy ways to deal with people. It’s like its own version of Eric Harris. Not saying it should be banned, but it’s a crap game and I’d have a long talk with kid I found playing it. That’s just not how life works.
@App Quit When you are encouraging others to engage in this behavior, yes. The satire excuse doesn’t work if it’s just a thin cover to get around criticism. White Power people always argue they’re just “being ironic,” but no one believes them.
Dylan was actually the one who came up with the shooting, which he had written on his journal and the second incident with eric was a death threat he made to brooks brown ((Dylan's childhood friend)) they both didn't like each other and Brook's parents tried to report this but the cops failed. Also I really don't think eric was a psychopath.
The ban on Silent Hill: Homecoming in Australia seems stupid. Like I bet it was banned because someone higher up was having a bad day. I mean the Saw games came out the same time, and they feature lots of stabbing to eyes and much worse. It just seems stupid to completely ban SH:H.
its even fucking dumber when the asshats that banned it know it takes about 30 seconds to get around those bans and the only thing that results is that the developer doesnt get paid. thats absolutely not defending controversial games or plugging them but both here and in the UK we have completely hypocritical censorship bureaus who ban depictions of stuff our police judges and politicians get busted doing for real on a regular basis.
I remember going to a flea market with my mom as a kid and some dude sold us the Dead Or Alive game saying it was a fun volleyball game for kids. I was weirded out by the graphics and only played it once. Creepy guy.
Can’t imagine sitting for hours developing a game based off the real life traumas that people experience and/or whose families are still around to see the fucked up shit and deciding yeah I want to release to the world. That’s my contribution to society.
Could say the same about games like GTA, Saints Row, or Payday. You have to be able to separate the fiction from reality or else you might as well agree with Jack Thompson that video games cause violence.
@@StevenTLawson I think you confuse my point. Violence in general in video games is not much to blink an eye at. I enjoy it myself. I am specifically speaking to those based on specific events, such as school schooling’s that have real life dates attached to real life people who have actually suffered from these things and shouldn’t have their trauma advertised for “fun”. Not the idea of murder and violence. If you still disagree chalk it up to a difference of opinion.
@@sarabiqueen violence is violence and there’s going to be very few violent acts you can do in videogames that a real person hasnt experienced. Even more so we have seen many big budget Hollywood productions in regards to real world events that have claimed thousands of lives and then we give awards to them while they rake in tens of millions of dollars. Attempting to say that a video game doing what television and film have been for decades and receiving praise for is wrong, is absurd that we have to treat one medium different than another.
I agree. Mostly when it's 1-to-1 related to the tragedy. Just seems strange and sad at best. Not that those topics can't be touched in any way, because there's nothing wrong with doing that, but the way some of these went about it most certainly is not good.
I remember seeing somewhere that in Rap*lay you could "mess up", and one of the women at some point would stab you in the chest and kill you. Apparently, this was considered a "Bad Ending".
@@FreakenPinko256 speaking of which yandere dev has actually played that game. I can't remember where, but there was a thread of him as his old username on 4chan asking the developers on how to get to the next step since he was stuck. It's been years since i've seen the evidence but i'm pretty sure you can look it up somewhere. Sorry i don't have a source i used to when i kept up with the yandere dev shtuff. 😅 But now idrc abt him or the game.
One you missed: The Guy Game. The game is a trivia/game show game that involves answering questions correctly to see the real women in the game remove their clothes (yup, just as weird as it sounds). This was done through live action cutscenes. The biggest piece of controversy, however, stems from the fact that the devs didn’t properly vet the women appearing in the game, and one of the women was actually 17 at the time, making the game classified as CP. So yeah, pretty fucked up.
The weirdest part is how this game is still sold on Ebay. The Xbox and PS2 copies go from 35 to 70 euros. This was before the era of patches so I am sure the devs were put in a very awkward position.
And yet this mf puts DoAX while only talking about the 3rd entry. Piss poor research from the guy. He could've mentioned how in the US release of the first game 2 or 3 girls, Kasumi and Ayane definitely, were underage, with Kasumi being 17 and Ayane 16, and they had to set the age in their bio as "non available" to avoid issues. Even away from the spin off, DoA2 has the ages of both Kasumi and Ayane. If you use Helena's age in the game as a reference (23), and check in DoAX1, it's clear the spin off happens in the same year as the events of DoA2. Also, ScottTheWoz already covered the game. Sorry for the long rant but The Guy Game really should've been in DoA's place despite the sus shit.
This reminds me of a satire game (it doesn’t exist) I found in a magazine called ‘fun with maths’ it basically is the same thing with math questions, and it’s kind of like baldis basics integrated with p0rn0gr4phy Edit: the game was called fun with maths, not the magazine
I actually live close to the beach where the Guy Game was “filmed” you could say. In South Padre Island. I was born after the game came out so yeah nobody really cares tbh, and honestly should be forgotten. Tacky early 2000’s shit that should not be remembered fondly.
As a long time fan of the Dead or Alive series, the Xtreme series are clearly fanservice games for *certain* fans. The creators even decided to tone down the hyper sexualization of the female characters in Dead or Alive 6 by covering them up in non revealing clothing, but there was no point to this as you could just unlock their revealing clothing (and exaggerated breast physics) by grinding at the game. The "core" fans are basically the ones who come for the heavily sexualised female characters, so the creators think that they have to keep sticking to this formula so they don't lose a large chunk of their fanbase. In fact, Yohei Shimbori (a former director of the Dead or Alive series) was frustrated with the discourse around Dead or Alive 6 and said: "I blame it on DOA Extreme". It's not hard to gage what a large part of the Dead or Alive community are playing the games for.
One of the team members said in a interview about sales, their biggest numbers come from costume selling instead of the game itself, just to put in perspective lol
Is not sexist, nor mysogynistic, (quoting from the video) those words have very especific meanings, maybe creepy by whatever definition you want to have but it's still harmelss.
definitely should have mentioned that the hot coffee mod was essentially re-released when the gta trilogy came out -- the team who worked on the trilogy basically just emulated the games without initially changing the code, so people could get the hot coffee scene in the game's release. they patched it later, once people found out... but it sure was there
The Hot Coffee mod wasn't the only thing bad about that game, it was the many bugs & glitches that came with it. I honestly don't know why that game was called "The Definitive Edition", is should be The Defective Edition.
@@gamin546 it still pisses me off that most will hate on any older game, but then defend all the rereleases of games that end up looking and playing worse.

Fun fact with night trap the original idea for the game wouldve been vampires attacking the girls instead of ninjas but Sega said having vampires suck blood out of the girls would be too violent so the creators were forced to change them into ninjas but then Sega said they liked the idea of the girls having blood sucked out as a real threat so they were forced to make the ninjas use this large machine to drain their blood which is more violent than having simple vampires
This is like saying you don't want a real burger so you get a veggie patty but you say you liked the taste and feel of an actual burger so instead of getting an actual burger you just get an impossible burger
It's even more ridiculous when you let one of the girls die, which will result in you losing the game. Just one girl dies, and the boss dude just fires you, dooming everyone else in the house.
In regards to the DoA thing... as a woman, I don't think that the games are sexist, but some people who play them definitely do questionable things with what they contain.
I've always seen those games (and adult games in general) as just a different version of porn. Weird in most cases, yes but nothing to raise alarm over. Except for the rape ones obviously. Fuck that shit.
Yeah same, I play videos games myself and I don’t get offended or call games “sexist” by certain things like women wearing revealing suits/clothes since I don’t focus on that sort of things (I just wanna enjoy the game, that’s all). Though for games like DOA, I just think it’s creepy and for weird dudes who wanna beat it to chicks wearing little clothing
You failed to mention that night trap was not about any of the things it was accused of being about in the hearings. The claim was that the game revolved around getting them kidnapped/killed when in fact the player was tasked with protecting them. This was at the height of the "games are the root of all evil and are ruining the children's minds" mentality.
Hi! Just letting you know the Night Trap thing was wrongly portrayed during the "video game violence panic" as you causing violence towards the main characters, they used this argument disingenuously as what actually happens in the game is that you protect the people in the house and use the traps to trap the intruders, so the opposite of what was claimed. Something similar happened with Rockstar's Bully, where the game was being accused of inciting Bullying, when in fact you were the one beating up bullies. :) Great video by the way!
I think the act of rape or the glorifying of rape should not be depicted in media. I'll offer the only time it should be *mentioned* in media: For historical accountability reasons to not forget tragedies (like the rape of Nanking, what us soldiers did in Vietnam), Holding rapists responsible in general for their heinous crimes, and what Jonathan Davis did when he wrote the song Daddy, which was him singing his own personal experience being SA'd by his babysitter and how his mother saw and didn't care. It was beyond painful for him to make the song, but he sang it so other people who went through what he did could have something to relate to and for his own healing. The song was gut-wrenching, disturbing, and real, so he would not be silenced or ignored and he even broke down crying while recording but it makes me happy that you can hear the other band members drop their instruments and they had a group cuddle session.
As someone who was r@ped/ sa'd when I was only 8 years old, i agree. The game creators and communities justify r8pe by claiming they are "only characters", its disgusting. The first time I listened to that song, i cried. Its so emotional, and to know that he now has support from the rest of the band Korn is heartwarming in a sense.
The reason why sa and rape shouldn't be placed in media, is because it just glorifies it. It doesn't matter if a writer wants to 'explain the pain one may feel' or not, there is no need to explain what everybody in society already knows about. Every time this is done in movies, songs, games, etc., all it does is force viewers to relieve horrible events they didn't ask to relive. Movies that have rape in them get terrible rating by every critic in existence. In fact the search engine will actually attempt to 'censor' or filter scenes depicting such, making it harder to view in the first place. Can you imagine going on a date with your crush, going to see The Revenant, and then a rape scene pops up? Gee, that'll be one awkward date, and suffice to say both your lady and you will be uncomfortable. In songs, nobody wants to sit around listening to "Korn's Daddy" like im just vibing in my car, and then hear his twisted song, and put it on blast..? Nobody jams to twisted tunes like that, nobody. They want to hear what is good, and makes them feel good, see movies that make them feel good, not force us to watch a movie producer torture an unknown female actor on screen, and 9 out of 10 times, any female that was sa'd in a movie never makes it big in any other movie, and doesn't get famous or gain renown. They're basically just used and abused in what I like to call 'Entertainment Industry Stockholm Syndrome' Where producers, staff on set, etc. will rest assure a female actor un and coming that her sa scene is for the good of the movie, and it's an important role...But it's not. They just take advantage of her on film, and she's so starry-eyed she doesn't even know it. In a video game, it's worse than both the two combined, because now the game basically rapes us, and it's the next thing to it being real-world, where it's simulated sa. Bottomline, keep rape as far away from cinema and interactive material as humanly possible, and stop trying to play other people's therapists. Your game devs, musicians, and movie producers. Not psychiatrists. It's not their place.
@MrReaperofDead I agree with you for the most part. However, daddy by korn is not written to be enjoyed. It was written for therapeutic purposes for the singer and potentially for people who process their trauma in the same way or back then people didn't talk about csa and could help someone especially in the 90's to realize they're not crazy and someone helped to give them a voice.
I think the glorifying of rape in media is acceptable IF it aims to show the viewer the perception of the perpetrator, but for moral reasons it should then be followed with the painful perception of the victim. I don't personally agree that art should be censored in any way, but I'm sure for victims it would be nessecary. Then again, who should have the say as to what art can or cannot be made? It's either free art or full dictatorship.
gross that most of these games involve women being used as sexual props or getting abused. these video game developers are disgustingly creepy and disturbed.
As a woman, as long as it's clearly consensual and doesn't involve anything illegal, I couldn't care less if a game has sexual themes. Hell I even play some myself. My motto about the whole thing is: "if it doesn't hurt anyone, who cares"
U forgot to talk about story and backstory that involve rape and stuff They're okay also, because they're literally part of the plot The point is that it isn't potrayed in a positivr or goofy light
@@atanaZion I thought that fell under "involving something illegal" obviously if it involves rape or abuse get it the fuck out of there, but if you wanna play house party go right ahead
the jfk game actually has some pretty interesting lore. i know wendigoon has touched on it in the past in one of his videos, but something interesting was that the creator offered a reward for anyone to get a perfect score and perfect recreation. interestingly, nobody (i believe to this day) has been able to successfully do all 3 shots. can't remember if this was intentional on the creators part, but super interesting and a cool rabbithole, i recommend watching wendigoon talk abt it more if ur interested, i believe it was a disturbing videogame iceberg iirc
Crazy story, in this indie dev group i was in, one guy made a 9/11 sim to try to troll steam. He got banned but wondered why we shunned him for such a messed up game. Before he got blocked he sent a drive link... One dev tried it and said it was beyond fucked
I literally don’t know how ppl can defend the last game on the list when you take in the fact that _one of the characters is a child._ A LITERAL child. What the fuck…
On the Dead or Alive game, people seem to be confused these days, they say sexist when the correct word is sexy. Finding beautiful women attractive is not sexist, its natural and normal.
Fun fact about Custer's Revenge: A lot of people don't know this, but the game actually received a sequel by the name of General Retreat, where the roles are reversed and you play as the Native American girl
Ayyy can't wait for the release Cherry Soda. Also curious if there is going to be a part 2 of this since there's a lot of controversial games like Postal, but I really enjoyed this video.
Postal 2 was literally made with those people in mind. So people can't yell about how postal will ruin kids minds because you don't HAVE to kill and maim like in Postal 1
Dead or Alive is a great game, I’m a girl but I find the girl characters in the game have great designs and their super cute, and the Xtreme game doesn’t seem misogynistic to me, because mostly it’s just girls playing Volleyball or doing beach activities. But regardless some of the weird Fanart I’ve seen of the girls that are mostly by guys makes ME uncomfortable.
I think you kind of explained why the game itself is still bad. Games like these, that depict women in the unrealistic way they do(physical and internal traits), lead to that art you saw and whats depicted in it.
@Cameron idk man I just clicked cause I saw marie rose and wanted to know what he had to say about DOAX. That shit changed my life ngl, you can get it on steam with a vpn
I've played JFK Reloaded and the premise is shocking at first. However there are settings to make things much wackier and it just becomes outright hilarious as cars and motorcycles go flying everywhere
i understand the comedy in the "crosses the line twice" trope, but if the guy wanted to he could've just... not used a horrific event. if it was all fictional characters i think it would've been much more tolerable
@@alexandergazmen3126 I feel like just generic Dictator would've been better for a wacky assassination game as weird of a sentence that is, but JFK? yikes
@Were wolf Queen they aren't impying he was a dictator. They meant like it would be easier for us to go against someone who abuses their power, like a dictator.
Fun fact about JFK Reloaded, when the game originally came out, there was an online leaderboard, with a promised cash prize for whoever could most accurately reproduced the events the transpired on that day. The contest was canceled though, sadly
as a girl who enjoys ✨spicy✨ and dating sim video games, i don't really have an issue with games like dead or alive. games that are clearly for fan service aren't really misogynistic (unless shown otherwise), it's mostly the fanbase that's at fault. as long as all the characters are of age and it's consensual, it's fine. play whatever you want, just don't make it illegal.
My best friend at the time, a girl, used to love the DoAX games. She said it's basically like dressing up Barbie dolls. I'm sure you can be creepy about the game but I personally see nothing wrong with it.
I mean thats the fckn point of video games. To do shit you want to do. Being creepy does not exist in a singleplayer game. Because the npcs are non living non existant bunch of code. Even if you are creepy nobody cares and nothing happens. Like who tf gives a fck if you look at a womens butt in a video game. As long as you dont harras them in real life you should be able to do anything in a game.
As a girl, I'm mixed about the dead or alive thing. I read a few comments about what people feel, and all I can say is, personally, I'm not bothered by fictional women in this context as long as it's not r*pey. However, I feel like there could've been more warnings and restrictions with it, a lot of people seemed to think it was a normal dead or alive game but got disturbed, that's my problem Edit) ppl who argue on TH-cam be starting in my replies

i actually played night trap recently and i can say that it really isn't bad. one girl there is a special agent that goes undercover at this sleepover to stop intruders from hurting the other girls. you deploy traps to get rid of them and that's it. there's no kind of raunchy element in any way. side note it's REALLY hard and frustrating. there's no saves and going through the entire sequence takes like 20 minutes. if you miss a quicktime event (which all of the traps are) it's killer. it's just a product of its time where games were made to be played for years instead of days. the story is pretty fun but if you're interested i suggest watching a playthrough
No need to apologize for fictitious content that people from your country make, I'm not gonna apologize for all the crazy shit my country does that I find personally myself find werid or disturbing why should you?
If you do another one like this, I recommend these -Chiller a 1986 arcade shooter where you murder and torture people -Death Race a 1976 arcade game where you run over what it seemed to be people? Not even sure how people seen that
I also would recommend "Postal" or the sequel of the game. The original game was extremely controversial on the original release, and even more so on the release the of the sequel.
I feel like Night Trap should have a 100% remake now considering how accepting people are of video games now. Night Trap is like a rated E game compared to the games now.
Hey, Tuv! I don’t know if you’re ever gonna see this, but I just wanted to let you know that your videos have the power to turn a bad day to a good day! Keep up the good work king!
Hatred would have been good as a commentary of metal state of a killer The colors that are shown are all what he see or focus on He sees no color in the world I wish it was a game about how a mind can be twisted and causing you to become a killer
its actually a "remake" of the first POSTAL game not really understanding why the events of postal happening and just saying "fuck it well have a mentally insane lad shoot people"
as a native american, knowing that Custer was a real person who did horrible things to my people yet the ignorant and generally degenerate game devs doesn't even bother to try and make a good excuse for the game but just saying that it basically "was funny and not that deep" is maddening.
I'm gonna be honest I do not care. The idea that you're ancestors weren't scalping and raping and genociding tribes is maddening. Like this pixel game is actually what gets under your skin? Not the natives who sold their children?
Get over yourself. You weren't even born back then. None of that had anything to do with you. Some guys made a game. So what? It doesn't affect your life in any way. It has nothing to do with you. You're not as special as you think you are. Get over yourself
Because its only the white man that did horrible thinks to your people, your people didnt do anything to each other like massacring weaker tribes and stealing there lands, wait…
Japan has looser sexual morals than us in the west, that's the best of my analysis , that and certain crimes there aren't taken sadly as seriously there.
you realise how much bullshit you are saying? in all GTA you can go around killing thousands for no reason other than to have fun. Your mind is washed to think that this is okay. so who the fuck are you to comment on other countries. its a game... if killing is fine in a game, then in another country i guess rape is fine in a game as well. doesn't mean that they want to do it. because when u kill in games, doesn't turn you into a killer. get your head out of your asses and wake up.

It's a lot like how people in the United States say that violent video games serve as a means of training teenage boys and young men to become mass murderers or serial killers. This is not even remotely true because teenage boys and young men in Japan and South Korea love violent video games and buy more of them than their counterparts in the United States; but you obviously don't hear about mass murder sprees from Seoul or Tokyo.

as like 15 when I found out about Raplay. I was assigned to look at banded games & that was the 1st 1 I found. I was traumatized by that because that was around the time I was fully understanding what sexual assault was. As for the whole "it's normal in japan" is 100% true. Fictional child porn is still legal today...in japan....in windows. So let me break this down. If there was a graphic novel showing all of what R Kelly did, it would be sold in stores & displayed in window showing a child being assaulted by a grown man.Rape is very very common form of erotic fantasy in Japan actually. A paragraph on of my essay for school talking about how aspects of anime reflect real life Japan discussed this.

You broke it down well, along with this, the US government gives absolutely 0 fucks about R and CP, all they did was make a petty law surrounding it, they virtually lean on the owners of the websites/companies to take down the R and CP.
i genuinely dont understand how people can make these games and feel good about it. for instance; Custer's Revenge? Horrible game on its own but when you realise for 1. Custer is literally a real guy who actually contributed to the horrible shit that happened to native americans and 2. Multiple people sat down and animated all of it. they took time out of their lives to devote to this game and help make it a thing. why? literally just why. i dont understand how they aren't in jail like actually that should be a crime.
I'm now hearing that, apparently, Custer's Revenge has a sequel where it's the Native woman doing the same thing to him. Though I feel like that one was made to deflect from the criticism on the first one 😅
Your attitude toward your audience, your work, and almost everything you do is the reason for your continuing success. I won’t be one to complain about it when you speak of your thanks to your subscriber base. You’re a gem. Totally remember my grandmother and parents freaking out over Mortal Kombat and wanting to keep my siblings and cousins away from it. They had no idea that we’d been playing the arcade machine at school anyway. The school didn’t realize what it was when they put the machine in the little food court we had. It didn’t last long. But, eventually my parents relented and purchased the MK game for us.
An idea you should do is Controversial Moments in Video Games. This would kinda be like a sequel. but instead of obscure games that were banned or just bad, games that are known to the wide public that had pretty controversial moments. It’s interesting to look into
Regarding DoA: Most people who call it "sexist" do so to ANY game with fanservice at all. Even ones lighter than the Extreme series. DOA Extreme 3 DID NOT release in the West officially. However the main series still do. Many people think it was due to social justice pressure and considered censorship to many. Same moral panic but for sex than violence.
@Rocky That's the most dumbest argument I've heard in my opinion. So everybody is supposed to be treated the EXACT sane for something to not be sexist/racist etc? It's literally just a video game character being sexualised, stop going on your social justice crusade for something so irrelevant. Are Only fans models and P*rn star models sexist for sexualising themselves in these ways now?
When I first saw you in Cr1tikal's videos, I was impressed by the amount of personality your brought to your videos. It makea the videos seem very genuine, and more entertaining. I also enjoy the detailed elaborations, and coverage of less well known topics. Keep it up!
Tbh as a woman, I was never offended about DoAXV even today. Maybe because I didn't do the photo sessions - they're boring as hell. Just enjoyed dressing up my favorite DoA girls in bikinis, playing volleyball and befriending them together lmao
As a fan of the DOA games, I can say that the general opinion on the beach volleyball series is just fanservice although they are enjoyable games apart from that. Some people enjoy that and they are criticsized, but I rarely see people complaining about series like Mortal Kombat. They are just games, I don't understand why people get so offended.
Yeah, I understand fanservice isn’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean it’s sexist or anything. Let people do what they want, I’m not finna judge lol.
“They are just games” dude games, movies and media in general reflect real attitudes of people for better of for worse. Just because something is “just a game” doesn’t mean people are dumb for being offended by it because they are offended by the subconscious message behind it, not the literal game. Similarly, something being “just a game” shouldn’t prevent people from criticising it if it legitimately supports sexist / racist etc. attitudes. Also people do complain about mortal kombat, it’s unfair to oversexualise the women but not oversexualise the men. Either sexualise both or neither, otherwise it is pretty sexist.
@@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy I understand what you say. However, although I think that the Xtreme Beach Volleyball series does not have any men in it, the principal game does have men that are equally oversexualized as woman
I don't believe DOAX3 ever got released in the US, you cant even buy Venus Vacation on Steam. But English copies were indeed sold online on sites where you can import games from other places such as PlayAsia. But as a avid DOA fan since I was a child (I have all the DOA games except the one on Nintendo DS) I can admit the volleyball spinoff series are indeed a fanservice thing, but no lie playing the volleyball is kinda hard. There are other mini games and challenges as well like at night you can go to the casino and gamble, And though this is a fan service game you can't really just do whatever you want with the girls. Like you have to raise their happiness and relationship, like you have to buy them gifts, learn what they like and play specific games they want you to play. Like for example every girl has their specific bikini they start in, you can buy them a new one but if it's skimpy they won't like it especially if you haven't befriended them so you wasted 100,000 Zack dollars and you have upset the girl you tried to gift it to. The premise is fanservice but I think the volleyball is honestly fun but the entire game is very grindy and low key difficult, it will take multiple "vacation" playthroughs to unlock anything significant, the game makes it pretty hard. There's a ton of gifting and play guides online but those are still only so helpful, so most pc players modify their saves or reload until they somehow manage to force a gift but that's tedious and still time consuming. The physics have been toned down over the years for a more realistic look but I think there's always a switch in the settings for you to change that in the fighting games, in the volleyball game it has to be unlocked. Now whether it's sexist or not? I can only speak for myself, I am a woman but I don't think I should speak over other women. I can understand why ppl wouldn't like it especially knowing nothing about the series. I think the fighting game lore is pretty cool my favorite game in the series is probably DOA2 Ultimate! I grew up on DOA and while I would recommend more ppl try the fighting game DOA6 is a fucking flop 😭
@charankoonepunchman7397 I didn't say anything bad about the game? I said I like it and I own it? Tf you mean "tHiS iS jApAn WhAt YoU hAvE tO sAy Is InVaLiD"?

@@ExSpheriment They all are, really. The school shooter ones are just the most likely to occur IRL. Columbine has the biggest “fan base.”

This was at the height of the "games are the root of all evil and are ruining the children's minds" mentality.
Hi! I think it was more so the idea that the women get hurt and SA If you don't save them, and thats just a bit weird
@@MrReaperofDead Erm you do realise a lot of films arent "feel good". Martin Scorsese films are great but i wouldnt call them feel good

the jfk game actually has some pretty interesting lore. i know wendigoon has touched on it in the past in one of his videos, but something interesting was that the creator offered a reward for anyone to get a perfect score and perfect recreation. interestingly, nobody (i believe to this day) has been able to successfully do all 3 shots. can't remember if this was intentional on the creators part, but super interesting and a cool rabbithole, i recommend watching wendigoon talk abt it more if ur interested, i believe it was a disturbing videogame iceberg iirc

I think the bigger problem is that they included two underage characters. Knowing the nature of that spin-off, I understand the outrage
I remember when people gets pissed off from "remember, no Russian"
Custer's revenge is just inexcusable, and tasteless, and racist.
