    What types of balls do you like throwing on house shots?

      Your channel taught me that pearl balls can crush house patterns. As well as, not to throw urethane for the most part.

      For my local house shot, starting sym solid and then sym pearl is magic. The asyms can be darts oddly enough.

      I typically start off with either my short pinned hyroad or my longish pinned wild streak. My lanes tends to play a little early though so I need slightly cleaner stuff.

    My house has way too much friction to throw any balls this strong I wish I could. Mid performance balls are my best options.

      @Mikey-1990 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same issue's with my home house. I love my Proton, but there's no way I can effectively use it in both my sport or house shot leagues, at least at that house anyway. Other houses for tournaments it looks amazing. I have a higher rev rate and those kind of balls at that house just burn up on me. My best look there are symmetrical pearls, which are my favorite type of balls anyway.

    I am a 210 average league bowler and currently I'm throwing the Brunswick True Nirvana and Mag 035 Pearl both pin up. Would the Quantum Evo Hybrid or the Defender Hybrid be the next add to the arsenal or something else? I'm not a high rev rate bowler with speed around 16.0. Thanks!

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Nirvana and the Mag .035 are pretty far apart from a performance standpoint. Something like a Melee Jab Carbon might fit quite nicely in between. The coverstock on the Defebder Hybrid is a little on the weaker side, so we’d probably say that ball over the Quantum

    Alot of people confuse “strong” with flippy, as in back end motion. Making that hard left turn motion. Strong to me mean smooth, slow response, and not “jumping left”. And thats what I always lean towards on house shots. Smooth controllable stuff. At least for most of the time.

    • @seabass04
      @seabass04 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I always thought strong and smooth were different. Like if I wanted something strong, I would go with an asym, but if I wanted something smooth and controllable that won’t over-hook, I would go with a symmetric ball.

    • @dylanfry7978
      @dylanfry7978 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seabass04 yeah i don’t necessarily think it really matters as far as asym/sym or even pearl/solid ETC. A ball can be both a pearl and smooth or can be a solid and flippy. Thats not 100% science obviously thats just Generally speaking. But yupp, strong to me, and strong to the pros & most people who understand is early & smooth. Not backend reaction. Like a Gem to use a recent example. Early & smooth, not much backend. Or even a Zen, which is a pearl, but i think most would agree its very smooth, even could be a benchmark ball. Similar to a phase 2 for me.

    I recently got an Iron Forge. Went with 13 pounds because I tend to throw it hard and straight. The pro shop guy called me an idiot basically.

    • @matthewberwald1691
      @matthewberwald1691 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about that ball specifically, and that company, but the 13 pound ball usually has a completely different weight block than the one the ball is supposed to have. Those are normally 14-16 pounds. Since you throw it hard to begin with, the heavier stuff is probably worth considering. The weight block the ball is meant to have as well as giving yourself more mass to fling into the pins, it's a win win.
      He shouldn't have called you an idiot, but he should've explained the same thing I did, and happily got you the 13 pound ball after you insisted on it
      Signed, someone that used to throw it hard and straight. Now I throw it hard with hand lol.

    I’ve been consciously trying to learn to like the big slow asyms on house shots. My eye is slowly coming around to seeing it properly.
    My question:
    If big slow asyms are becoming what good players use on house shots, when would you ever use a quick response sym? If you’re not using them when there’s free hook to the right, not using them on short patterns obviously, probably don’t have enough teeth to get started on any heavy volume patterns, so is it long patterns with low volume only?

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes when the lanes hook in the mids so that the sym sharp balls slow down in the right spot and the big asym would be too early. Maybe like game 5/6 of a tourny. Check out the melee carbon vid. Mitch explains!

    I appreciate your videos but as an amateur trying to digest the information I find it difficult. What speed is he throwing? What's his starting foot position? What is his rev rate? I really wish that a channel put all the variables into a concise, easy to digest packet so that comparisons would be manageable. It seems that it's all about the ball comparison instead of reviewing the bowlers stats and making informed decisions. I might be ignorant in the vocabulary but I want more information that I feel is missing.

    • @TheFreakout74
      @TheFreakout74 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      His or any testers starting point/rev rate/ etc are more or less irrelevant to anyone watching imo. Everyone's game is different even if you put the same layout on the ball and stood in the same spot it wouldn't react the same.
      These reviews are to show how this ball reacts on different conditions and against a known ball on the market.

    • @jasonboness3871
      @jasonboness3871 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFreakout74 But if everyone game is different, then doesn't that make the stats more important to know. I was a professional high jumper. If I wanted to learn and get better I would want to know the jumpers speed, curve radius, plant angle, and other variable to understand more.
      If I was a told that a 300 rpm bowler, throwing a 16.5 mph ball, standing on board 16 with my left foot and aiming for a target board of 10 then I could better understand this info. As it's presented I don't know anything and I'm supposed to get an a true review of a ball and it's reaction. Doesn't make sense.

    • @JeffGDj
      @JeffGDj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason, its not like that, stats alone cant provide enough to get tbrough the variables. How would u know know your throwing 16.5 if u went & bowled tmrw? How many games were thrown before u got there? And did the throw urethane or lefty/righty before you? The lanes come into play much more than high jumping, only the jumper & how they peform affects changes of tbe outcone, whetes as bowling the ball, the lane and the player all affect it. If i read a book on how to play basketball, you still have to go out there & play it to understand it
