I think the hype was solely due to fantasy football. He ended last season ranked as the #6 QB in FF - because he ran for 1000 yards, not because of his passing. I think that skewed a lot of people - mostly those who don't watch the Bears - into thinking he's the next Josh Allen.

My opinion is when you have a young quarterback as Fields. You need experience offensively minded head coach or an experienced offensive coordinator. The Bears should have gone and took Kellen Moore over the coach they have now , Harbaugh could have helped Fields if he was to leave Michigan.
How is any of that going to help him read a defense or see the field? He consistently misses open receivers and just doesn't understand how to throw with anticipation.

This! The worst NFL defenses are still miles better than college, especially some of the competition he was facing in the big 10. Coordinators have an answer for the read option now, NFL defenses will figure it out. It’s why there’s so much Zone being played now.

It’s a multitude of factors the Fields situation shows why Caleb Williams needs to stay put. It’s like Mariota in Tenn but the staff is really bad and there’s no Tanehill. Also the bears are no playoff team. They need to trade Fields before the deadline. His value has diminished but the right team could develop him. I will say I wish the best for him. The only way for him to be good is to be allowed to rush and to snap with his right foot forward. Until this happen Fields will just be a backup and learn. And who’s now maybe he could pull a Geno in 3-5 years.
if anythings that smartest thing to do, is ride the fields wave until is contract expires. because then at least you are still adding other key pieces. Bears need an Oline and Dline, then you can stick whoever at QB. The Lions and 49ers have proven this
@@johnchedsey1306I’d say that the Geno situation in Seattle is further evidence of the comment right above yours by adamrobles. Really, they're 0-12. That is how long it's been since they won. Fields, as hard as it is to say, has been given too much grace period. A better thing would be to say, he should NOT have been put in to play for a few years. Look at what chilling did for Jordan Love, he sat and learned so that when he got in, the game wasn't too big for him, it wasn't too fast for him and his brain had time to absorb everything...and he has the BEST chance to succeed. Fields would have to go somewhere and just relearn the game, get with a healthy locker room, take the heavy bag off his back and just let him love the game again.
@@system331 Hey man, I know that deal. It's MY opinion that the Bears should have grabbed a solid veteran player for Justin to learn from. The team was better in the two years prior to drafting him. Like that should have been the Bear's first clue.... Usually guys who are good elevate the team rather than make it significantly worse...
@@anthonygreen127 That's not the reason. Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith were both literally on the team in 2021 with Justin Fields, yet the team performed WORSE. Until C.J Stroud breaks the cycle there is a reason there are no notable Ohio State QB's currently in the NFL . They are not properly taught how to play the position . For a collection of billion dollar organizations many NFL teams are badly run and wildly overpay average talent including Zach Wilson , Mitchell Trebiski , Daniel Jones, Baker Mayfield , and Justin Fields .I closely follow pro & college football and every NFL draft I find myself yelling aloud "Who ? Where did they find this guy ?!"
I believe this week 3 game is going to open the window to what the future is at the QB position for the bears either Fields balls out or they tank for Caleb Williams and fire the coaching staff
Yeah as a Bears fan I'm kinda ready to ditch him if we had a better QB our offense could get us to 6-7 wins at least . I hate that we are a punching bag for every team we play sigh...
He's just bad, he was bad in college, and he is bad in the pros. He cannot read defenses and has trouble processing in general. Great athletes who try to get by in the pros on the athleticism they got by on in college find out real quick that the speed of the game is on a completely different level.
The Chicago burros need to invite a retired but still in playing shape qb for practice and compare how their offense runs against their own defense between fields and the other qb,run 10 game simulations and compare results, maybe they can find an answer.
It starts with the ownership. They hire another idiot for GM who then hires a defensive minded coach to help develop their young quarterback. It's a clown show in Chicago
Bears fans will clown me but idc. That last game seems to be clearly on him. I saw clips where he was staying in the pocket and receivers were open and Fields just didn’t see them and instead he decided to take a sack in the middle. Now does it help that he was put in a bad situation? No, but even though the coaches made him overthink in the pocket, in this type of situation especially while having the ability to escape pressure like last year, you have to simply get over that fear and just make a play which in this case throw it to the receiver and you can’t hold a ball for too long or otherwise with a horrible line like that can get you sacked real quick. Not saying everything is his fault but he definitely lost the team the game. Plain and simple.
I agree with you and I'm a Bears fan we are done with Fields and Getsy and Matt Eberflush . The only good thing is our GM and that we got Rochon Johnson
I said this from the minute Fields got drafted; He's a phenomenal runner, but if you want him to become an NFL passer, he's a project and a risk. He has shaky fundamentals, horrendous footwork, and he can't properly read the whole field. The Justin Fields experiment is over and I'm sure the Bears are gonna be throwing their names in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes at the end of the season.
Caleb did the same thing fields did, played one year with his commitment and then ran to an over-rated school with a weak schedule to pad on the stats. Zero integrity or loyalty in those kids. It matters.
the bears have not ruined fields and i'm a bears fan. he has never been good. if anything ruined him it was playing at ohio state where he didn't have to do anything. even in the easiest scheme he won't be elite. caleb williams has an extremely high floor which is the opposite of fields.
Been calling this for 3 years. These running QBs don't have the football IQ to understand defenses. Not to mention, Fields can't hit the broad side of a barn with that arm...
He also needs to be better at football. How many times have you seen him just look around and scramble dude is way too reliant on his legs I made with that same why Jake Tim Tebow’s highlights look fucking amazing but everybody knew he didn’t have what it took and Justin Fields it’s beginning to look like that as well

@@sputnikalgrim it's crazy how delusional people are. When was the last time Ohio State had a QB that looked bad in college? Top talent at every position. It's hilarious. Your are very correct. He isn't an NFL QB.

Then again, for all we know, if Justin Fields was drafted by a better managed team than the Bears like, I dunno, as a 4th rounder for the Seahawks or Buccaneers, maybe we wouldn't be calling him trash. But yeah, Fields has not been helped by the dumpster fire the Bears have been since....1986

@@choiyatlam2552 rookie OCs are not nearly as predictive of busts. However, Stroud is making it look like the OSU qb bust predictor goes below 98% right.
I think the biggest red flag is the predraft knocks on his ability to read and process defenses. If you can't do that at the college level, you're not going to figure it out in the NFL. Teams need to stop getting so hard over athleticism at the QB position and remember what their job on the field is.
I feel bad for Fields. If he had been drafted by another team, he might have had somewhat better chance to be developed. In fact, his best career move might be getting cut by the Bears, then lowkey signing with a decent team to be a backup and have low pressure for a couple years. And if the Bears draft yet another QB next year, they will undoubtedly ruin that kid too. This is a bad organization that probably needs a change of ownership to ever break out of this cycle of crap. Basically I'm saying Fields will suck the rest of the year and it's a shame to see a young kid get put through the wringer like that.
Bro he's horrible. Bears fans stated all off-season that he would be mvp because now he has weapons. Two weeks into the season and he still sucks. Now bears fans come with more excuses. Just admit that he sucks its just a fact.

In 2001 Brady took over a team that went 5-11 the previous year, and they were 0-2 in 2001. Brady took the team to a SB win.... Is it the team or the QB?
Bro the Bears aren't the reason he fumbles every game and throws a pick on top of it. Dude is the worst QB in the league. He's not a very intelligent QB with the football, and his talent level is grossly overhyped.
I know Justin's attitude is poor for an NFL QB but I wonder if it could be the same thing as what happened in Jacksonville, Lawrence looked like trash with Urban as his head coach but once Urban was gone Lawrence started living up to his potential. So maybe a new Coach or change of scenery would benefit Justin. (Ravioli)
Lawrence is a true QB that had NFL level talent in college. Fields was overhyped because of who he played for. He is a mobile QB, but NFL speed is WAY faster than NCAA speed. He can't outrun the defense, and his ability to read defense is atrocious. He misses wide open WR's, and his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. The only QB with a lower QB in the first two weeks is Kenny Pickett.
Justin Fields just doesn't have enough football IQ to play in NFL, plain and simple. He can't read the defense fast enough, so he misses wide open receivers, makes head-scratching decisions with the ball, constantly runs into sacks even running is his biggest strength. He is not a rookie anymore, it's his 3rd year, you can't blame the coaching and Bears had a pretty good offseason addressing both their defense and offense.
Statistically he’s worse than Trubisky in every way minus rush yards. As a bears fan it’s painful to watch this garbage every week and hear excuse after excuse
Does anyone remember Mitch Trubisky? He looked promising during his rookie season, then everything went south. Yes, Fields does seem to be regressing, but after he's scrapped, can you think of a college prospect who will want to play for the Chicago Bears aka the quarterback graveyard?
This video is wrong. Justin fields is elite as he showed last year and then bears will surge later in the season and make the playoffs. I 100% guarantee it

This offense …The Fields-Quinn offense … unlocks the special skill set of Justin Fields. I believe it's the answer. I love my Chicago Bears … and I hate to see the turmoil we’re in … but I think I have found a way out of it. No new players required, no waiting around, we can fix the problem on offense right now. An offense that moves the chains and controls the clock also helps its defense to rest. We would need a QB to spell Justin occasionally, and confuse the defense. The solution is to simplify things for Justin, for everybody. And Luke Getsy is not required, because Justin would decide the outcome of every play for himself, and to be himself. JF is good at two things. Running … and throwing the ball while running. This offense …The Fields-Quinn offense … unlocks the special skill set of Justin Fields. I suggest a player of his particular skill set operate exclusively in the play-action scenario. The formation never changes. On every single play, the defense will see exactly the same formation. One tight end, three receivers, and a running back behind the QB. On every single play, the defense will see the QB under center, taking the snap, and moving back to hand it off to the running back, who may be moving towards the line, or left, or right. On every single play, if the ball is not handed off …. The QB will boot one way or the other. As he runs, he will determine if there is an open player he can hit relatively easily … or he will continue on foot and gain a first down. The running back is either a roving blocker, or a target. The defense cannot really cheat either way. They must present a balanced look. IF they bring a heavy line, for example on 3rd and 1 …. The QB can simply boot and run for the first down, or throw it to a receiver wide open deep. If it is 3rd and 20 … and the defense is playing deep off the ball .. the QB can hand it off straight up the gut through a three man defensive line. HE can boot and run amok in the secondary, a forte of his. The power of the offense is that the QB can see what the defense is presenting and decide right up until seconds after the snap .. .what the play will be. Even when he has decide to naked bootleg it … it can still be a pass or a run. Justin has the ability to kill a defense on his feet when he’s in the open. Getting him in the open looking for open receivers is key to Justin’s success. You don’t need to think as you run. Is anyone open near me or easily connected with? No? Keep it. A very simple offense that has amazing power. The defense only ever gets one look, yet it has no idea what’s coming. It has to be ready for a deep pass over the top …. Or a gut punch up the middle … on every single play. Easy to implement, easy to teach, easy for Justin. Where does it fail?
I remember during the trevor Lawrence QB draft class (1st round only) it was so overly hyped and over rated.. I said Lawrence was a generational but everyone else sucks.. they’re all overrated, overhyped and will be busts.. omg I got bombarded in the comments especially about Trey Lance.. idk how that dude has so many delusional fans.. well here we are just a few years later and they’re all indeed overrated, overhyped and busts.. I do hope Zach Wilson can still turn it around with Aaron Rodgers as a mentor until Rodgers recovers and returns..
@@gameofstones6560 true, but it’s important to look at what is wrong with both’s play. Confidence and comfort can be addressed, and Rodgers was brought in partially to help with that. Fields is just digging his own grave with the way he’s approaching this, it’s only going to degrade his confidence and comfort. Which sucks because he has a pretty bad track record of easing defenses, something Wilson doesn’t face. Wilson’s problems can be seen in both film and the stat line on his clean pocket/under pressure split stats, which show he’s uncomfortable and not confident in his plays. Fields just can’t read for shit it seems, that one gaffe of the week 17 lions game 2022 comes to mind
I think one problem with the bears in general is I think they tried to get a qb too early in their rebuild process and completely shook Justin field’s confidence making him play on an incomplete team, they should’ve focused on other positions until they had a decent roster THEN draft a qb towards the end of the rebuild process instead of the beginning.
Look at the chiefs for example, in 2012 they were terrible, they got Alex smith as their qb and over the next few years built up a solid roster THEN drafted Mahomes to complete the team they already have and it’s gone really well for them, compared to the bears who gutted their team then drafted fields hoping that they could get him help and he would develop while they build the rest of the team but that hasn’t happened Justin fields is not enough to carry the bears.
They’d probably ruin another qb.There picking high again and will probably have another from the panthers. They should consider trading the pick and getting a haul for it again.
justin has no o-line and is only 23 or 24 has one of the best pair of legs for a qb ofc not a lamar or vick but he is very good at it and has a decent arm him and his team are getting so much better along with the addition of dj moore a really good wr he can improve so much more trust me

Justin Fields has and has always had the arm talent of a ravioli, I don't know why they thought that was going to improve, especially without seemingly working with him at all on it

I've always been 50/50 on Fields but the are times when the O line gave him 3.8 to 4.2 seconds to throw and had a man open and he missed the read last two games . I know the o-line ain't great but it's still not the worst overall . (Ravioli)
Fields has s future in the NFL as a WR/RB
its actually far from the worst too..
My opinion is when you have a young quarterback as Fields. You need experience offensively minded head coach or an experienced offensive coordinator. The Bears should have gone and took Kellen Moore over the coach they have now , Harbaugh could have helped Fields if he was to leave Michigan.
Could have also hired Doug pederson
How is any of that going to help him read a defense or see the field? He consistently misses open receivers and just doesn't understand how to throw with anticipation.

This! The worst NFL defenses are still miles better than college, especially some of the competition he was facing in the big 10. Coordinators have an answer for the read option now, NFL defenses will figure it out. It’s why there’s so much Zone being played now.
No, they actually stopped running him. He's only had around 2 or 3 designed runs in the past 2 weeks.

The Lions and 49ers have proven this
As a Seattle fan, I do like this "pull a Geno" phrase.

Horrible analysis. I’m not even a Bears fan but he has NO offensive line and the coaches are doing a horrible job. You’re a fool that nobody should listen to.
THIS AGED WELL!!!!!
I told all my friends this was his MVP season smh
Really, they're 0-12. That is how long it's been since they won. Fields, as hard as it is to say, has been given too much grace period. A better thing would be to say, he should NOT have been put in to play for a few years. Look at what chilling did for Jordan Love, he sat and learned so that when he got in, the game wasn't too big for him, it wasn't too fast for him and his brain had time to absorb everything...and he has the BEST chance to succeed. Fields would have to go somewhere and just relearn the game, get with a healthy locker room, take the heavy bag off his back and just let him love the game again.

Not many dudes get to lose that many games in a row and still be playing.

The team had Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith anchoring the defense
@@anthonygreen127 That's not the reason. Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith were both literally on the team in 2021 with Justin Fields, yet the team performed WORSE.
Ravioli ravioli Give me the formuoli
If trying to run a really simple nfl offense is making him, "overthink", he doesn't belong in the NFL, at least not at QB.

It matters.
Praying they don’t take Caleb Williams. They’re just gonna ruin him like fields
He’d go back to college before joining a team like the bears and the cardinals
the bears have not ruined fields and i'm a bears fan. he has never been good. if anything ruined him it was playing at ohio state where he didn't have to do anything. even in the easiest scheme he won't be elite. caleb williams has an extremely high floor which is the opposite of fields.

Ohio State QBs ALWAYS SUCK in the NFL.
(Ravioli)
Lawrence can actually play QB and fields is a runningback
Lawrence is a true QB that had NFL level talent in college. Fields was overhyped because of who he played for. He is a mobile QB, but NFL speed is WAY faster than NCAA speed. He can't outrun the defense, and his ability to read defense is atrocious. He misses wide open WR's, and his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. The only QB with a lower QB in the first two weeks is Kenny Pickett.
How many games did he play in the first season?

Watching the 9ers last night it really sank in how far away us bears 🐻 really are from being the least bit relevant....bear down newho

The Chiefs will have Nagy double as Defensive Coordinator for this game😎

Look at the chiefs for example, in 2012 they were terrible, they got Alex smith as their qb and over the next few years built up a solid roster THEN drafted Mahomes to complete the team they already have and it’s gone really well for them, compared to the bears who gutted their team then drafted fields hoping that they could get him help and he would develop while they build the rest of the team but that hasn’t happened Justin fields is not enough to carry the bears.
