That calendar thing was so iconic, turning the blocks around to show the date. Never forgotten it!

Would’ve been 10 weeks old when this was first shown. Thank you for this x

I am roughly four or five months older than you, as I was six months old at the time!

I would have been just six months old and in the pram at the time, so my first Christmas and New Year. Didn't watch the programme until 3-4 years later!

In colour - we only had a black and white tv set then I think for another 7 years!

Julie was probably just as early a presenter as Brian Cant was. But unfortunately, she isn't really regarded amongst the greats such as Brian, Floella Benjamin, Johnny Ball, Derek Griffiths, Carol Chell or Chloe Ashcroft. Its a pity, since she started on the fifth week, and didn't leave the programme until 1978.
Julie was actually the third most frequent presenter, with 600 editions. Just under Brian, who hosted 620 editions, and Carol, who actually did 763 editions.

Julie once said that the 1 thing she hated about Play School was having to sing the 12 days of Christmas

They had the need to lock the children/toys in the cupboard!

The Canadian version ended every week like that. The presenters would lock the toys in a dollhouse before leaving through the giant polka dot door.

@@humphreyjohnstone6783 Thats real interesting - thanks for commenting. I will have to see if I can find that - any links?

@@newbeginnings-myeverydaylife Just search "Polka Dot Door" online. I think Fridays were the Finding Out Days, and I think one should be there.
I don't know, to be honest. The Canadian version just felt like a cheap knock off.

@@newbeginnings-myeverydaylife Did you find it? Just type in "Polka Dot Door Finding Out Day" and skip to the end. The presenters, Denis and Cindy, I think, put the toys in a box shaped like a house before exiting through the titular door
