i its pretty cool to think about how a game could go from you personally driving around most of the trains in the beginning, to in the endgame sitting in the ctc room monitoring all of the traffic on your line handling several trains at once
Still need to use Fusees for stopping passenger trains at the stations, otherwise they'd just run on by.
Narration… good, CTC… great, railroad simulation… priceless! 👍

Looking pretty special. I think those might be the first full CTC panel. Run 8 has a dispatcher with similar functionality but it doesn't use a CTC panel, this is much more immersive.
ya Run 8 has its own panel but a lot more to show too with a LOT more ground to cover. However if you have ever ran an operations session at a large model railroad running JMRI, that has a full actual dispatch panel to run a layout. Ops can be pretty realistic, even in miniature, depending on how "real" the train club wants to run that layout.
@@SirLANsalotI've had the privilege of visiting a real panel in action, I got to play with a siding for a meet under very watchful eyes. Definitively a feature I look forward to in this game.

i would not have done well mid 20th century, but i love transition era Steam, having "high tech" running systems so you don't have to stop the train and flip switches like... a certain other multiplayer railroading game... its gonna be so fun!
Just got the early access PC version a couple weeks ago. I’ve been spending waaaay too much time enjoying the living daylights out of it! Coming from a multi-generational railroad family, this gives me a bit of a connection to my predecessors. Looking forward to advancing through the game as time permits.

Development takes a lot of time and resources, particularly for a single developer.
We hope to look into a QoL one day to try doing that.

To be honest that's with atc not so much railroads
For some of us who have used IRL CTC machines in certain situations, following circuits with tags (even post it) was a true thing.

I love railroad games but one thing I would love to see that I haven't seen yet really would be maintenance of way say even have a tank car for spraying weeds and if you don't do it for a certain period of time you're line becomes overgrown or You can have a rail break switch fail or ties that need replaced throughout time on your railroad

Coolness of the board aside, this gets me happy given it's old tech, complete with all that clicking and buzzing to boot (Now we get to wait and see how long it'll take before the trolls get their hands on the board. ;) )

Are you planning to add more types of locos in the future? if so, do you have a rough idea of how far along in the 19th century that you're going to create them to? Would absolutely love to see a Shay Locomotive, they're never created in games for some reason. BTW! Amazing work! thank you for your dedication!
We are looking at options and ideas to expand the rolling stock! No idea of how far back we might go.
Shays are hard to model, that's the primary reason.

Question, I saw a comment similar to this. Will trains actually move around on the tracks with simulated suspension like how they do on Derail Valley, and if so, will that be considered for potential wear and tear on equipment?
They will sway and slack in and out as you run it :)
@@railroader Ohh, that's very cool to hear about. Another question if you don't mind. For passenger trains, can passengers give ratings on your railroad based on the ride? So if you have a beginner engineer and the train run in on the engine alot, or he opens the throttle to much to quickly, will the railroad get a lower rating?
No, not right now. Reputation is mostly about service, like just running the trains :)

Is this a sandbox game, like you build your own railroad or is the railroad built for you?
So this game has two modes: A Sandbox and a Company mode! The railroad is pre-built/bought by the player.

I havent gotten this far into the game yet but im confused how this works because all my train cars spawn in random orders in the interchange track and I have to build them in a specific order to deliver efficiently. So in single player I'd be bouncing between ctc view and yard switching super frequently I feel like
Something I forgot to ask in the reveal, but does the CTC cover the whole map, or are there sections of "Dark Territory"?
If so, might be an opportinity to model an older style interlocking tower with the big levers somewhere on the line in the future.

At about 2:11 the locomotive seems to tilt as it curves onto the main line. Is this normal behavior? Ive never noticed this on other sims.
Tilting can be a thing, as it is in game, but note the game is still a work in progress. Could be more pronounced then it should be.
Look up super elevation. Curves are tilted into the centre to allow the train to go around the curve faster with less track wear and more comfort
@@trainsimulatordriver Thanks, ya I realize the tracks are banked but never really noticed the actual train tilt before, but does make sense that it would have some sort of pivot movement. I guess you wouldnt want too much or the train could flop over lol
@@railroader Ya, thanks, its looking good and cant wait to try it out. Pretty tired of the current train sims and really looking for something better. Seems they all use the same gaming engine so they all seem to have similar pop-in effects :(
@@ebojager you'd be surprised how much it is IRL, even on the tiny heritage railway I work on with 2'6" track at a top speed of 15mph we have up to four inches superlevation on the tighter corners. Mainline can be quite a bit more. 4" doesn't sound like much but when you see a train go through it you really see it.

Some, yes! This system is also an upgrade to your railroad that you do/do not need to buy in game.

How many types of locomotives are in game?
There are about a dozen plus steam and 2 diesel currently!

So you get 2 in company mode! A small 4-6-0 and 2-6-0
This is a silly one, but how do you know whether Left or Right is to diverge into the siding? Is it determined by the visual on the board itself?
No silly questions!
So the way these controls work are:
"Switches" use normal and reverse (N or R) controls. A switch in Normal is whatever position is "drawn" on the board where the switch is located.
"Signals" use the left and right (L or R) controls. These are either setting signals to go "left" on the board, or vice versa.
We will be doing a short explainer on CTC systems down the road to help with understanding of these systems.

Yea, only the mainline and interlockings are controlled by CTC, much like real life.

@@railroader on the train display panel you also need to place icons of traffic lights and junctions with numbering, because you cannot understand where you switch signals/junctions

@@railroader will it be a regional pricing or $30 all across the world. in my country $30 is quite much for working class but i don't want to miss on this game! Also will there be any launch sale/discount for the 1st week or so? Can't wait for the EA release!!
It will be 30USD, I am uncertain if Steam lets us alter pricing in that way.
