  • Generative design is widely regarded as the Holy Grail of design engineering automation. Simply press a button, and have artificial intelligence create an optimized part. It's a supremely difficult challenge, and, like autonomous driving, is much more difficult than it appears. Engineering.com's design engineering expert Roopinder Tara discusses the state-of-the-art in generative design with Jim Anderton.

This illustrates the difference between a professional opinion, and a professional who has an opinion.

I like the way he end the conversation by giving the best answer, yes it is a too in your tool box but not a replacement for a design engineer.

Could you do an episode that compares generative design and generative AI? Are they the same? Are they different? If so how?

Too bad all the generative design stuff is proprietary overpriced bull crap. Its been long enough, when will an opensource/free software be released :(
