Hey man, I just wanted to say your lessons really worked for me. I am a trained guitar player for 25 years or so. Realized I am just a frustrated bass player. So while I have some advantages, its new thinking like a bass player. Please take this next statement as a compliment. I love the fact that your videos are not some sterile over produced flashy garbage. I liked that I felt like we were in your living room and I was getting a real bass lesson. Great stuff man
Love the analysis of the variations on the original theme with the context of space--especially the back and forth between "original way" and "new way". That really helped showcase the concept. Plus it helps show how a tune evolves over time as it gets handed down from musician to musician. Outstanding video.
Hey, Blyss! Your lessons are dope! Especially this one. I got love for my NOLA cats. I'm a fellow bass player from Jamaica, Queens, NYC! Home of Bernard Edwards and Marcus Miller
Congrats on the bass spot with Zig. Him and George are my absolute fave bassist and drummer/ rhythm section. I'm new to your channel. You're a lucky man to be playing with Zigaboo! Any chance you can lean into his ear and try to get him to come do a gig here in NY? Preferably Brooklyn bowl..which I'm sure would give him the gig. Can't wait for Foundations of Funk when they come in August but I'd still love to see Zigs' solo band.
i love your choice of great bass songs but us beginners would love it if you would say the note and string names as you demonstrate because its difficult to see which notes you are playing.

This is amazing. I love the comparison of recording and "modern" way. But the solo section... Thats what I need help on.
The Routine solo section is pretty “easy”. Basically just C - G
Deserves a "like" anyways but got a "like" because of the Night Court reference. nice ear and playing!
Hi all, wheres the Bb ad F does the bass not play those roots notes?
Permutation yes. Thanks!
What about the third section? A lot of bass players really over-play on that part, too.
like he said!
awesome!!!
+Todd Hamby thanks brougham

Am I hearing what's not there, or is there an open E just before count four of bar two in the recording?
I think you may be hearing what isn’t there
Talking about the original recording
Do you have tabs or could you send them if requested?
I don’t really do tabs brother. Tab is counter productive IMO

Merçi
Tnx!
Dude that p bass neck is THICC!!!!

@@TedTalksBass thanks

It’s just C to G
Basically...
Night court bass line is hot also
Don Darnel huh?
The third slides ...
it's also watermelonman ;)
night Court! hahaha YES
#scottdevine
I put this out first if that’s what you’re implying ;-)
sonofabass no no I wasn't implying that at all sir. I was trying to show Scott that you already did it.
Brooks Smith oh. Well, George Porter did One too. Lol. He should get the credit, not me that’s for sure hahahahaha
Dude, too much talking not enough playing
People should be forbidden to title a video "how to play ..." when it's not about guitar... :P
