I don't ever want to do it again either. I had read about the through-the-firewall method and tried it. I couldn't get it out and had to do it the other way. Finding all the fasteners was the hardest part. The dash components went in easier than they came out.
Thanks for the vid! just did mine and this helped me a lot. I was super confused at one point because I could not for the life of me find one of the blower motor bolts. Turns out the little speaker for the door/headlight/seatbelt chimes came lose and was hanging/stuck to the bolt i needed. Lots of other weird little issues this helped me through too. Thanks again!
good video thanks what was the reason to replace the valve My civic does not cool, mechanics tell me that the compressor does not compress, this could be possible.
Hi great video! I am needing to replace my expansion valve as well but I can’t seem to find the form insulation anywhere, where did you purchase yours from?
Good stuff!! Wow you tore down most of the A/C components to get your car running 💯, props ! You refreshed my mind , thanks it's been years I havent touched an A/C unit 👏🏽
For folks watching this you do not need to do all this. You can pull it from the firewall. When you disconnect the lines from the firewall you take out to Allen head screws grab it with needle nose pliers and pull it out. Then you just reverse.
The issue with pulling it from the firewall is that you can bend the evaporator lines thereby potentially having cracked the solder joints.. or putting in the new one and having to push it on hard to get a good seated position... what she show is the factory method and definitely the safe one
You did one thing wrong, you forgot to put the temp sensor wire in position. You left it hanging low and pinched it. There is a notch in the evaporator cover that its supposed to sit in.
I love the video Super helpful having the same problem with my 09 civic si and I love the fact that if a female did it I can probably do it to. Y me alegra que son bori... 👍
How does mold get into a vacuum seal system? No no no Never clean the inside of evap or condenser with any other type of cleaner only ac refer line cleaner Clean the outside fins only
I did this job several days ago on a 2007 Civic. Just know that all the screws, bolts, and nuts are accessible, even though it looks intimidating. Slide the seat all the way back, sit where you can see up inside, and you'll find them. For another video detailing this job, with good visuals on the fastener locations, see: th-cam.com/video/IszUT0cwvQM/w-d-xo.html
What was the symptoms and how did you know the expansion valve needed replaced vice maybe drier? I replaced by compressor twice last year. Once the mechanic said the new compressor was bad then I got the new one in and it seemed to cool for awhile. Now the air is cool but definitely not cold. The compressor is engaging and I have some cheap gauges and it seems the AC gas is full enough. When I replaced the compressor some mechanics said I needed to replace the expansion valve and drier but the mechanic I decided on just said compressor. Thinking he was wrong.
Well the symptoms was that my a/c was always warm 😫 Luis hooked up the Ac machine and saw that when the car was revved the pressure for the low side hose would drop. So he knew that the expansion valve was getting stuck and not allowing the Freon to flow as it should. After I changed it I haven’t had any other issues with my a/c.
You don't have the cut that piece. I removed everything to do my expansion valve on the 2008 civic without having to cut it. There are a ton of screws in the back that aren't visible until you get down there.

Ahhhh been there, buddy... I just did this a month ago since my AC decided to go out mid summer. 😅😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thanks so much for this walkthough. I really didn't wanna tackle it myself but after seeing how to do it, I guess I'm up for the challenge!
good video thanks
what was the reason to replace the valve

Hi great video! I am needing to replace my expansion valve as well but I can’t seem to find the form insulation anywhere, where did you purchase yours from?
If you replace the compressor, is it obligate that you replace the expansion valve as well?
Good stuff!! Wow you tore down most of the A/C components to get your car running 💯, props ! You refreshed my mind , thanks it's been years I havent touched an A/C unit 👏🏽
Thank you!
What were the symptoms that made you aware it was the expansion valve?
Good pressures but not cooling enough

got it all loose but i cant seem to find the right angle to pull it out
As I am watching her saw zall her interior i am thinking the same thing, there has to be a better and easier way than cutting your car up!
The issue with pulling it from the firewall is that you can bend the evaporator lines thereby potentially having cracked the solder joints.. or putting in the new one and having to push it on hard to get a good seated position... what she show is the factory method and definitely the safe one
it is necessary to put the insolation around the valve thanks
Super easy, thanks for the video.
If we pull a vacuum, and the system won't take freon, like it won't allow freon to go into the line would that be the expansion valve?
Random question. What flashlight is that?
The expansion valve can be changed from the underhood access hole. For pete's sake!
If you don't mind, can you send a link to the instructions for this?
It’s always awesome to know that there are females car lovers. Love the shirt as well.
does the foam pieces come in a kit ? or do you have the part numbers for those pieces
Those come with the expansion valve
Mi carro todo le puse pero no enfría como es será ese el problema?
Nice job! Thanks for sharing!
I'm doing my right now
What s the size of the bolt that goes into the middle of the expansion valve to attach to the hoses for the ac in the engine bay
Mine broke. Please help
Did you have to cut the piece of dash like they did?
@@greeneking77 yea. Had to
Excelent, just fixed a customers car using this info😁 thanks !!!
Nice Video ! Not much thing but right on point !! Thanks !!!

Muchas gracias 🙏🏼
This is a lot of work
That is to much god damn work for a little piece of metal. I'll stick to using the windows.
Ugh, I wish I didn't have to cut that one piece. Everyone seems to be cutting it to get the blower out.
Yeah kind of silly Honda did that but in the manual it says to cut that piece of plastic to remove the blower.
the Bad thing is that i have to do that yo My SI 07😭

i have to do that in my 2010 honda civic 🥵🥵🥵🥵......

@@aclabs4515 Any Specific place where to buy it and How much could I expect to pay !? 🤔
I wish you had not used the background music. It distracts.

What? You have to CUT a piece out of the car to service it? Horrible design Honda.
That's nothing. On a reanult scenic, the whole dashboard has to be taken out just to remove the heater fan blower. Awful design.

I did mine in 20 minutes.. I’d rather work on Hondas than on land rovers and jaguars any day
