Honestly best thing you could have done. That happened to mine, I took it apart replaced the shaft and it lasted a year. I should have just welded it would probably still be going on it. Nice video man
Just wondering - have you never thought about trying to tac weld the splines back? Even if you can't get it perfect it just has to hold. Tac the individual splines, and then spin the shaft with the bikes engine on and grind them flat, then mark and carefully carve out the splines again with a Dremel. This method would prob work best with a Gas Mig welder , but flux core would prob work just fine
Only reason to try to do this is in the event the chain falls off and his the case and you gotta JB weld the case , you will really wanna be able to remove the sprocket. I wonder if you got an induction heater and wrapped the coil around the output shaft and heated just the splines red hot quickly and doused it in water or oil if that would give it more hardness and strength to not wear out again quickly...
honestly, i have a 300 ex and its junk...no one knows anything about them. even had a guy private message me. claiming to not have seen one in 15 year's. cant figure out the wiring harness . everyone keeps sending me diagrams. but no luck finding the green and brown wires where they plug in at...
I got a 02 300ex and it's the best thing ever - only junk if you think it is and can't figure out your problem.. but their wiring is easy and very basic. There is literally a several hundred page PDF manual for them - I used it to rebuild an entire transmission / engine assembly one time and it worked great
I just picked up a runner for $400 on FB marketplace. Dude said the CDI went out but once I got it home I saw the spark plug wire was broke and had a 14 guage wire twisted onto the broken plug wire and attached to the spark plug. Funny thing is it had a brand new spark plug in it. Who changes a plug trying to get spark when the plug wire is junk? lol I had a brand new coil in my stash so I threw it on, sprayed some gas in the carb and it fired up. I cleaned the carb and have been ripping around a bit. I need to do some other stuff, change the oil, check the valves, tighten the chain, front wheel alignment. Pretty good deal for a '97 though. All the brakes and clutch are smooth as silk and the plastics are in good shape minus the cut off front fenders like the one in this video.
Good job buds.

Thanks bud, it’s still going I’ve gotten lucky so far!

Sorry to hear that!

Man, i've been trying to find a trx300 roller for years here in FL. I have a rebuilt motor that needs a body haha
Wonder what else you could put it in?
@@radnplaid8083 good question
Maybe a 400ex or a 250
@@radnplaid8083 I'll research and see what else works

Oh fuck I knew I heard the welder😳
Haha 😆 it’s still going strong 💪
@@radnplaid8083 hell yeah brother all that matters 🤘🏼
You just put the weld arc through the bearings and gears. Now they are probably damaged too. Earth clamp goes straight on sprocket..
2 years later it’s still driving
🤣
