i don't say this lightly, but 1000xRESIST is a once in a generation work of art. no labels or hyperbole can contain it. congrats to sunset visitor for an all-time great banger.
@@GeorgeD3 this is what i've become... and i do it proudly, cause the game and the devs deserve it! hekki grace fellow 1000x enjoyer GeorgeD3, hekki grace.
I skipped the story specifics (to play the game) but just wanted to add - this is an absolute feast in terms of being about creativity and process. Kudos to all for this - really engaging interviewees and the podcast format was really fantastic for this. Thanks Jesse for the spot on timestamps too - they meant I could enjoy this without spoiling myself. Awesome stuff!
The fact that the FMV scene (staying vague to avoid spoilers) was made of re-used footage from another project blew my mind - it fit so perfectly that I never would have guessed. One of the most impactful moments of any game I've played, it said so much without a single line of dialogue.
As one of the people who bought 1000xResist at the very end of last year and played through it, excited for this conversation. I've been devouring content about the game including multiple interviews with these 2 and it is all so interesting. Adore the story in this to bits.
Thank you so much for this interview. I know words like these get thrown around a lot in gaming but at age 35 to find a game that makes me feel so deeply seen and that changed my life so deeply is almost magical, and I cannot wait for whatever sunset visitor makes next. Kinda like Danny I do selfishly hope it's a game, but whether that be games or any other medium, I am there.
I am basically never this person, but this game was absolutely robbed by having zero recognition at the game awards. It's at the absolute cutting edge of where I hope games go. I can't remember which podcast I heard it on, but someone put it best when they said that this game with a bigger budget would not necessarily be better. It executes on its themes and ideas without needing a hundred million dollars and the suffering of hundreds of devs. The world needs more of this!
I hope the biggest long-term effect of 1000xResist is artists looking at game dev as a viable space to make their stuff. I love hearing them talk about how their process led to the game that we got, which is brilliant in ways that I haven’t seen a whole lot of in games and that I can’t stop thinking about.
This was my game of 2024 hands down. Having been born in Hong Kong and leaving in 2001 after the handover the events of the proceeding years have had a big impact on me. Pinky, your abiltiy to distill the feeling of other, of feelings of loss over a place and a society that has had such change forced upon it, and the feeling of being away from that place while it happens cut truly to the core of me. This and Freedom Swimmer (2021 film) are the most impactful works in unpacking the collective trauma of the cultural assimilation of the cantonese Hong Kong people by the mainland. Truly a masterpiece and a shing beacon for what art can be.
I've been playing through 1000xRESIST because of Noclip's podcast (and Jacob Geller). It's been amazing, I look forward to playing more of it to see how the writing will unfold!
I was gonna be polite and let one of the guests win the intro item off but Jesse springs an Austin Powers bobblehead on us Sadly going to have to skip this one as 1000xresist is currently sat unplayed in my steam library but this will push me to start it soon.

Love that everywhere I go on YT I see fellow 1000x enjoyer Ogto spreading the good word.

I've never clicked on a video faster, 1000xRESIST is an unbelievable achievement

The devs’ arts background really shines through. Just in the way everything is set up and styled feels theatrical in ways I’ve very rarely seen.

Awesome episode, cant wait for what they cook up next!

Love this! More please.
What an absolutely perfect thumbnail.
Masterpiece. It is truly a very unique experience such a slept on game. The true definition of criminally underrated.
What a beautiful conversation, you guys are the best
Beat this game over christmas and adored it. Glad to see it getting some love ❤

What an incredible game this was...
This had made me purchase the game. These guys are so cool and have such an interesting story.
Hell yeah, 2024's Game of the Year for me hands down.
danggg "The Dig" mentioned!
Really enjoying the interview, but if people haven't played the game they should probably not watch past ~35min mark
Sphere to Square sisters
Hekki ALLMO sisters, red to blue

Hekki allmo !
Love those earrings Pinki Li, free Palestine 🔻🔻🔻
I like this format. If you're not doing documentaries much anymore I'd prefer this to the normal podcasts.
They have about a dozen documentaries in the works haha
They just take time
Documentaries aren't quick to make lol
Whut, they have two huge docs that came out in the last 2 months
How spoilery is this? Is it safe to watch if I haven't played the game yet?
Design by subtraction. If it works for Fumito Ueda.....
Wow great get guys!
