As an older Aussie i have eaten many things from sanke to Emu. one thing i will say is just on rabbits and hares. the meat from Rabbits is very hard on the human body to digest. if your going to live on rabbit alone then you will need to find some sort of root vegetables as well. hunters in england have died of malnutrition even though they had large amounts of rabbit meat. it draws a lot of nutrients from your body in digestion. for all your trapping skills it also needs never to be understated the ability to find foraged foods.
Rabbit starvation it's normally called around here. The meat itself isn't hard to digest, any more than any other mammal. The problem is that there's almost no fat, so trying to live off on rabbit meat alone gives you protein poisoning. IF you have to live off of rabbit, eat the brain with the meat and you wont succumb to protein poisoning as fast.
You cut away before explaining the scissor force mechanism, but it appears that this trap string is attached to an overhead branch with some tension. Or did I miss something. Databyter
Can't wait to try this out! I've been shooting squirrels w/a pellet gun in my back yard. I need to learn how to skin a squirrel so I can eat them instead of tossing them into the creek like my dad does.

@@CavemanCody Yeah I got it soaking in milk in the fridge right now. I've cooked a lot of fish and my preferred way is with olive oil and breading the fish in flour & corn meal. Good eatin'!

Too complicated and what provides enough force to break an animals neck? I think a rabbit or large rat would destroy this trap. Wish you would have shown us something caught in one of your traps. That would have been very helpful. Plus when your showing a-how-to video please make sure you have your camera positioned so we can actually see what you are doing. Look at this video again and see if you could improve how to film it next time partner. Thank you for sharing.

Very interesting. I’m not sold till it’s shown working… the way you have it, the “hoops” are hardly in the ground. The spring doesn’t look strong. I would suggest using heavy logs instead of hoops. With an animal it’s gonna thrash. Or even jus the spring will dislodge those hoops. It can definitely be improved. Thanks for the concept demo!!!! ❤

A deadfall is a "simple" trap.
I mean, it's more complicated to explain it than to do it as long as you have cordage of one sort or another.

It's super easy. Spring squirrel season opens in my region in June. If you dont watch a video by then from someone else ill release one in June.

Dressing a squirrel is pretty intuitive. If you clean catfish a squirrel isn't really much different. Plenty of TH-cam videos I'm sure.
