    Berta, I just love my Vitamix. It comes in so handy. Do you ever have any problems with inflammation from grains? This seems like such a nutritional well balanced way of how a diet should be. But there have been times if I eat more carb type foods then my joints get inflamed and painful. I'm trying to eat alot better. I find your channel very very interesting and I will definitely continue to watch and tell others about your wonderful channel. And will be fixing your recipes. Love Tamson from Kentucky😇👍 💕 💕💕 💕💕 💕💕 💕💕 💕💕 💕

      I do have painful joints but have not noticed a difference because of my consumption of grains. I will keep closer tabs on that situation, though. I am adding more leafy and other green veggies in my diet. Try that and see if it helps you. Thanks for your comment. Always good hearing from you Tamson.

      I had this problem too, and gave up wheat for a long time in my early 50's and pain went away. Now in my 60's and find pain comes back if I have certain white products, but find it not bad at all if I have a quality grain like Spelt or Khorasan or organic whole wheat. Barley and organic corn products are good too as well as sprouted grain breads. Hope this helps!

      @@bertajay God Bless you so much for always giving wonderful advice. I love fruits and vegetables. I adore all your wonderful videos so much. I will try to add in more vegetables with my grain options. Of course I am 56 now. And at age of 8 was hit by a hit and run car. I'm sure I have good ole Arthur trying to visit my joints too. I use to work with a Physical Therapist for years. She had told me that plain unflavored gelatin worked great on painful joints by lubricating them and helping with inflammation. To just mix about a Tbsp into a cup of water and drink about same amount twice a day. Wal-Mart now sells their brand of unflavored gelatin. Much cheaper than Knox brand.

    Looks good...question can I use "coconut flour in place of the tapioca?"

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, Sharon, I don't really know. Most flours you can be used as a thickener but I really am not familiar with coconut flour. Most of the recipes I have seen that use coconut flour, use it like corn starch, in a slurry, before adding it to a hot mixture. If you're willing to be adventurous, give it a try and then share with the rest of us how it turns out. It can't hurt, right? Thanks, Sis, for asking the question.

    I was talking about the nutritional yeast and other products to make the vegan recipes. All those things I checked on was so expensive in that health food store. I was wandering if you purchased them at a more reasonable price somewhere other than the health food store I was in.

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I buy my products from many places including online. Try Swansons: www.swansonvitamins.com/
      They sell their own brands as well as name brands. I have been shopping there for years and their Customer Service has always been the best (for me, though l don't speak for everyone). Also, Elaine try your local grocery stores. Mine have sales all the time with prices better than the health food stores. I hope that all helps you.
      Think of what you eat this way: ls it better to spend the $$ now on healthier products OR more $$ later on many doctor visits, prescriptions or many invasive surgeries later? The choice is yours alone. Just a thought.

    I visited a health store to find some nutritional yeast and the thickener that started with ‘xy’ lol, but wow! That stuff is soooo expensive! Where do you find your ingredients?

    • @bertajay
      @bertajay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am a bit confused, Elaine. Are you speaking about an ingredient in the cheese sauce or one I mentioned in another recipe? The 'xy' is xylitol and is a sweetner (I get it online in a 5lb bag from wholeandnatural.com); so, did you mean something else? In this recipe, I do use miso which can be pricey but it lasts a long time. Talk back to me about which ingredient you mean...I want to help?

      @@bertajay Ok here's the scoop! YUM!! I had to tweak it because I didn't have miso. So I used a little tahini and some braggs for the fermented and salty flavor...OH MY!! I was making mexican tonight for dinner and was making a poblano pepper for us. I cut it lengthwise and removed some of the seeds then roasted in over until tender. Filled with refried beans and topped those with sautéed onion and portabella mushrooms and flavored this with my homemade taco seasoning. For color I topped with diced red onion and tomato on top. Put back in the oven and broiled until tomatoes wilted with a little char. Drizzled with the 'cheese' sauce. Served with a salad with salsa, avocado, a squeeze of lime , a few black beans for interest, and yellow pepper! THANK YOU so much for the recipe! I didn't get the message about sweetener til now but it's good to me just the way it is!
