Dogs don't over heat because of their fur. Having short fur won't make him cooler. They cool through their paw pads and panting. Korea is very hot in the summer and that's why he likes keeping his feet in water.
Actually Double coat dogs should not get there furs cut, it messes with their natural oils and can result in them balding and develop skin conditions. Their coats are long for a reason, and actually their undercoat helps keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. And chow chows have a double coat so don’t be ignorant and do your research before commenting.

자꾸 털 깎으라고 하는데….아니 이중모는 여름에 너무 바짝 깎으면 오히려 안좋아요. 이중모는 여름에 털이 뜨거운 햇빛 반사시켜주는 중요한 역할을 갖고 있어요. 그리고 본인 반려견도 아닌데 이래라 저래라 하는거는 보기 안좋네요
덧붙여 설명하자면 강아지는 피부로 체온유지하지않아요 . 땀쌤은 발바닥과 코에만있어요. 헥헥대는이유도 열을 빼기위해서죠.털 바짝 깍으면 피부염과 화상입을수 있습니다.~^^ (이래라저래라 말이 많이 저도 덧붙였어욤~♥)

미용하면 오히려 피부병처럼 듬성듬성 털빠지고 고생하는 경우가 있어요. 알로페시아라고 저희개도 그래서 일 년 넘게 병원도 다녀보고 고생했어요. 면도기 가위컷 뭐든 올 수 있다더라고요

A lot of Chows get depressed if their hair gets cut and taking care of a depressed dog is really hard, worse than injured in a lot of cases.
Plus their hair (undercoat) actually keeps them cool...
Chow hair is long for a reason. It keeps them insulated even when hot or cold. Chow hair should never be shaved or cut short.
He got a lot of hair and it's very hot for him. I feel sorry for him!
