Joey, this is why we have no problem donating to you in 2017. You've been more than generous since long before posting this video in 2015. I honestly believe that you and other creative youtubers like you are a large reason this hobby is growing at the rate it is today.
Imagine that, you've become a better presenter. No surprise there. Practice makes perfect and you have practiced and you are better than most. Yuppers, I've gone back and watched every video you have on your youtube. There's a reason why so many watch you, because there's a lot of competition but you teach and share. You're real and personable. Keep it going!
Each of these tanks is an inspiration. Regardless of size or beauty, its the technique and thought process I find most interesting. I've yet to build a tank myself, but am thankful for the library of videos you've created and shared.
I agree that you don't always make things ascetically pleasing, but always functional. Great resource for those of us who want to build as much of it as we feel comfortable. Great video!
+The king of DIY I really enjoyed this video, and the order was very nice. I haven't followed your tank build's for the most part, I mostly look for specific thing's when I need them. However this video got me looking forward to a day when I have a house big enough and with a basement to do something truly massive and not take out a loan in the process. Thank you for your channel, I really enjoy it.
+The king of DIY so u threw away a 150 gallon tank, that is like 500 litres... my tank is 70 litres, i wanna upgrade, but a used 200 litres in my country is like 250 euros.... how much are prices of tanks over there?
+The king of DIY wow.. P.boesemani... cool... they are endemic to Suriname... i was planning catching some. But it seems the aquarium traders... messed things up here. a real pitty.
It's taken me about a year, but I am almost finished a plywood tank build that has numerous DIY tips and projects from you. The tank is essentially an homage to you. haha One of my other favourites of yours though, is the coffee table tank. I think that was one of the first of your videos that I watched. This rest...as they say...is history. :)
Hey Joey, Love your videos! Any chance you could maybe do one on how to build a "hybrid" tank? I know that it's one of the newer up and coming things in the hobby and I'm sure a lot of people would love to know how to combine glass, acrylic and PVC like MyReefCreations or A.G.E.
I love all your tanks and your builds I specially love your book I have both the online version and the book version. you just gave me an idea on how to build a large tank by using two separate tanks glass and plywood. By using the idea that you did with your last tank that was on the number one list.
I recently got a 2.5 gallon marine aquarium. A turbo snail I got just makes a mess of the tank. That means I have to siphon out his, *ahem*, poop, and because it is only a 2.5 gallon, I have to use air line tubing. I have to start it with my mouth, and I hate getting a mouthful of salt every morning. Do you thing you could invent a mini siphon with a auto start, like a primer bulb? Thanks, Conner
love the videos. it combines my aquarium hoby with a trailor park boyz vibe. questions on the last tank. it is safe for it to be unbraced, and when you take the bracing off an aquarium like you did to get the glass, are the cut edges of the glass sharp and need to be filed? i want to take apart a few 55g and try what you did just wondering before i do it.
your number 3 is my number 1. that video of how to build a tank is the easiest one and most helpful video i watched on how to build a tank. i definitely cant wait to build that same tank. thanks for all the helpful videos you put out ,by the far the best on youtube!!! keep up the great work. and one quick question would that tank size be suitable for dovii and if not how much bigger should the tank be thanks
I didn't mention before, but I'm going with number one aquarium IMO is the 370g plywood tank!! It may be because of your amazing Asian arowana floating ghostly in there. I do have one question a little off topic. What method of filtration would you recommend for a 53 gallon. I want to build a canister style but the cost vs a whisper of that size is pretty much the same. Do you have any suggestion's for me?
Hey Joey can you make a short video where you show us how to round the corners of an acrylic aquarium. I watched your video series where you showed how to build an acrylic aquarium and you mentioned that you would show how to round the corners but I think you changed your mind or forgot. Thanks for your awesome videos
Just ran across your channel and shortly after finding it I subscribed! Great info and very helpful. My son just bought himself a 53 gallon tank from a local uncle bills pet store for there special ($1.00 per gallon) with his Christmas money. I'm planning on using a few of your DIY tricks. The led light strip and green house panels to start with. I will also be building a stand for it. Thanks for all your info and vids. I'm not done watching all of them but hopefully by this weekend I will have done so. Take care!!!
hey joey thought number 1 was dead on.lovef it.your number 3 would of been my number 2.but to me they all were very cool and I really learned a lot watching them.i have all kid of things in all my tanks I learned from your videos.so you are the king in diy. so thanks and look forward to future vids.
I've probably watched all your clips over the years. For me, I love you two eight footers. Those, for me were my favourite. I loved that fish room. I want an Arowana!
Build #3 is what directed me to your channel. After watching some of your builds, I finally have the balls to try building an acrylic tank. I'm going to start off with a small 10+ gallon for my son just to get the hang of it then ill be working on a 250gal tank. gr8 videos. #ImSubscribed
I have a question since I wanted to build a plywood aquarium. Could I cut out one of the borders having the side glass connect to the front viewing glass to make an L shape? Your videos inspired me to building my own tanks. I've built my own refugium out of acrylic, I have a awkward nano saltwater setup and want to upgrade my tank size and saw your plywood build and it looked much more affordable then going with an acrylic build.
Joey,I am very interested in building the 150 acrylic tank you ranked as #3. Beyond the video segments, which I've watched several times, do you have any suggestions or tips with the build that may not have made the videos? You also mentioned multiple uses for the tank throughout its life time. Do you have any pictures of the tank and its various uses?Much Appreciated.Ted
What about your Discus setup? I know it wasn't really a tank you built, but the system was awesome! I am talking about the waterfall breeder system. I thought that was cool.
Hey my man I've made a 130 gallon plywood tank, it looks amazing thanks to you but I don't know what thickness of acrylic I should get for it because its not a small tank but its not a massive tank. 1/4, 3/8, or bigger? idk for sure yet but i figured id ask the master :)
In march I plan on building your 540 glass and 370 plywood in wall goldfish aquarium!!! Hope I can get it right!! I plan on running simple canister filters to save space and gonna try to plumb the glass one through the bottom some way.
Im curious what your going to put on the stand you built in the beginning of this video.... love your videos thank you for all the advice and I look forward to your 2016 builds!
I'm building a 500 gallon plywood reef tank. Your video series on it is so well made. Im doing updates on it on my channel if you would like to see. It has a 75 gallon sump that will be plumbed through a wall.
I would like to try to build that two-story aquarium, I have a large turtle and an aquarium where I practice aquascaping with small fish and shrimp. Can't combine them, but I'll try your idea, plus I really need a super filter for that turtle.
Hi Joey, I don't know if you can help me out. I have a small cold water fish with 4 fancy goldfish in there. Eheim 60 pick up filter. 3 or 4 days after 100% water change the water always appears like it's got partials in there. Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening?
I am looking to build a 1000 gallon tank for some African tigers. Which type of the tanks you build would be best? How much (estimate), and would you be willing to make a how to for me as I am a carpenter but have never kept fish before? ....complete newbie here
after making my top and bottom support frame I noticed a bow in one six foot beams should i finish the stand or replace it or will the weight of the tank flatten it out
I like that 2 stacked, offset stand system. May end up doing that in my TV room. Probably will not build the actual tanks, but will do the stand and filtration, etc myself.
+The king of DIY Do you know if there is any way to apply pond armor without having an absolutely smooth/flat surface? I like the added texture that you had in Build #5 (roll on rubber)..
Hey! Joey! I have been watching your videos for almost 2years. Now, you encouraged me to do it myself and I already started to make my own aquarium. I'm Korean. You know? Gangnam Style song by Psy who is a TH-cam star! I mean I really look like him. ;) Thanks all and I am planning to make my video too. I will show you later. bye!
Hey I wanted to build an acrylic tank against my wall for an arowana maybe 2 I wanted it to be long and high but not very wide coming out of the wall, how wide should I make it for a full grown arowana to turn safely without hurting itself or smacking the tank
Could you do a video on a simple 90 gallon tank for those of use that can't use a 150+ gallon aquarium? I love your tanks and would like to build my first tank, but don't have the room or wife to allow me to build a massive tank like most of your builds. Thanks!
+Kyle Schwanz Look at bigger builds and make it the same but on smaller scale.. But to be honest I think you would be better looking at craigslist and getting a "real tank" if you want only a 90 gal. BTW, I love my 90 gal :)
+Anthony Bergeron yeah your right. I'd really like an acrylic aquarium but I think buying a glass used tank would be a lot cheaper. I have a 75 gallon glass one I bought on Craigslist for $80 and it's nice. But the previous owner used it as a salt water tank and it has a lot of fine scratches that I couldn't notice when I bought it. Oh well...
First off thank you for making these videos. From your videos i have learned how to build my own stands and have even built coffee tables and TV stands from the same basic steps you have provided. I plan on buying you book soon to start building my own tanks. Thanks again and keep up the good work. ... Also you best build in my opinion was the last tank you built. The plywood one, where the stand and tank look the same almost. i think it was around 300 gal.
I like the fact that you have these videos there what made it to were I can afford to house my favorite fish like my African lungfish and my tessalata eel which will both be going into a plywood aquariums within a year for the tessalata eel and the lungfish probably will need one in about a year
Joey I have a question. I love motoros and am thinking of getting one. can you tell me the minimum tank size to house one (including dimensions) please? thanks
They get HUGE. 36" across. A tank with at least 30 sq/ft of surface area. Something like 8x4 for a foot print. Height isn't a big deal. Anything over 14" tall is fine.

With all that framing practice, time to build a house lol. Good video joey
All of these projects have been cool to watch. Thanks for showing us how to build.

Yo Joey! Big fan here, I've watched just about every video of yours, and was wondering if lava rock is sufficient in a trickle tower. Thanks!
have you ever done outdoor ponds?
I would like to try to build that two-story aquarium, I have a large turtle and an aquarium where I practice aquascaping with small fish and shrimp. Can't combine them, but I'll try your idea, plus I really need a super filter for that turtle.

Hey , do you ever thought about breeding arowana as you had breed discus earlier? I think you can do it, as you have large tanks.
Think you do great.
after making my top and bottom support frame I noticed a bow in one six foot beams should i finish the stand or replace it or will the weight of the tank flatten it out
grt work..true creativity ••
I like that 2 stacked, offset stand system. May end up doing that in my TV room. Probably will not build the actual tanks, but will do the stand and filtration, etc myself.

I also ment to ask if you could show what tools you use for all your builds
Do you have any plans to build a stand for a 75 gallon on top, and a 55 gallon on bottom wit a open face.
I want to build one and would like to see what you would do.
Beautiful Tanks...
Could you do a video on a simple 90 gallon tank for those of use that can't use a 150+ gallon aquarium? I love your tanks and would like to build my first tank, but don't have the room or wife to allow me to build a massive tank like most of your builds. Thanks!

+Kyle Schwanz I have done builds on this channel from 10 gallons to 540 gallons. I have done many sizes, shapes and materials.
+Anthony Bergeron yeah your right. I'd really like an acrylic aquarium but I think buying a glass used tank would be a lot cheaper. I have a 75 gallon glass one I bought on Craigslist for $80 and it's nice. hello is it possible to build aquarium stand without center brace for 150gallon tank?
Thank a lot, i Realy like your stuff. René from québec
Can you use one of these plywood tanks for a saltwater aquarium?
+stratoplayer1988 any tank i have ever built on this channel is fine for saltwater as well. Nothing changes.
i most like 540 gal tank and built videos
What did you use to glue that background to acrylic 7:42 ?
I like the fact that you have these videos there what made it to were I can afford to house my favorite fish like my African lungfish and my tessalata eel which will both be going into a plywood aquariums within a year for the tessalata eel and the lungfish probably will need one in about a year
How many of these tanks are still functioning?
Joey I have a question. I love motoros and am thinking of getting one. can you tell me the minimum tank size to house one (including dimensions) please? thanks
They get HUGE. 36" across.
A tank with at least 30 sq/ft of surface area. Something like 8x4 for a foot print. Height isn't a big deal. Anything over 14" tall is fine.
Thanks for the quick response bud
It would be cool if you took the 500 gal tank idea and tried it with 2 55 gal tanks that are cheaper and easy to get
What water stone do you use pls answer
Ohh man ............ I`m really try hard but I can`t stop keeping my eyes on this stand in the background !
The comment of Eugenio Vazquez coincide with mine. I like to see more information concerning refugiums and make comparisons with others methods for lower nitrates. I want to lower nitrates as low as possible.
I'm the same way about wanting it to be functional vs fashionable, but as I'm also starting a TH-cam channel I think I need to make things a bit more presentable as well
You said you threw out #3BUILD ! I should be your next door neighbour LOL
HEY DIY FINISH BULDING THE XL AQUARIUM CANISTER FILTER PLEASE.
