I am impressed with your logic and diagnostic skills. There does not appear to be much information available about the PrimeWeld units. I hope it is still working well for you. I just received the same model but have not been able to test it yet.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I had exactly the same problem with my brand new Cut50 by Reboot. Worked for 5 minutes and then stopped. I'd ordered it 5 months ago and never tried it, so was past return date for Amazon. Checked the relay and it was fused, just like yours. I refurbished it as you did, but I've also ordered a new 50A 24V relay - different footprint, but I'll solder it in with some heavy gauge wire jumpers. The contactor wire gauge just has to be equal to the doubled wires they're using on the Molex connectors. Wire gauge for the coil wire is insignificant, can be 24Ga. I've left the cover off the relay as I think it's overheating and this will help air flow around the contacts. No worries about it being sealed as the entire printed circuit board it's on is exposed.
You can find the relay NT90RNAE240B on eBay from China. Take a few weeks to arrive. But cheap enough.

    100% makes sense!
    Thanks man!!!
    Edited:
Yup, this was the problem with mine as well, and I also can't find any of these relays in Canada, and have to order them from China...
I did what you did, and WOW was that contact ever stuck really bad on the top metal piece!!!
I had a hell of a time getting it unstuck, and mine didn't look as nice as yours did after unfortunately...
I ended up using a hammer and a screwdriver flat bit to give it a few big taps, and it finally let go, which I then used a tiny flat file on it to reshape it again because it was jagged after.
Then I had to mess with bending the contact for about an hour to get it to work again, and had to bend the lower contact plate like a bit of a hump, to raise it a little, and get that middle contact closer to the top of the coil, because it wouldn't pull down all the way from too much of a gap between them.
I eventually got it working again though, thanks to this video!!!
    Thank you soooo much man!!!
I almost feel like somehow mounting this relay outside of the plasma cutter, since it's obviously going to be a continual problem, and will need replacing every so often. So I may as well make it into a piece that I just pull out the old one and plug in the new one???
OR, maybe I'll make a new relay from scratch that has beefier parts, as I have some spare contacts from a 240v industrial motor controller, that I would just need to rig up to a 24v DC coil, which I could just start with this cheap coil from this original relay since the coil is fine. Although it seems a bit weak IMO, so maybe I'll test out another coil and see if there's a difference between them. All these things are is a 24v DC coil and a strong enough set of contact points anyway...
Again, thank you for this video, it was awesome!!!

Thank for letting me know. Makes me happy knowing that my videos help others. Just to let you know, never did require replacing the relay since then, fortunately the repair i made still holds strong to this day.

@@MrDIYer You're lucky. Mine has the pilot arc now coming on for a second then cutting out. It was a mess after getting it unstuck though, so my point contact is in rough shape...
I'm leaning towards making a better relay out of parts I can easily get in Canada.
Extremely helpful video for sure though, thanks again!

@@MrDIYer Oh wow, it's working good again now. I had the air flow up way too high, and I also double checked and regap'd the spark-gap assembly that I messed with before finding your awesome video. The gap should be between .5mm and 1.5mm from what I read somewhere. I think the problem was the air being too high though...
Anyway, it's working awesome again thanks to your video!
Also, I ordered 15 new relays from China, as this is more like a consumable now, and will obviously happen again sooner than later. They are going to take over a month to get here by the looks of it.
I found another relay on Amazon that looks like it might be better than these cheap ones, which is rated for 80A, and has a removable cover with points you can replace and or get to easily, and it's a double throw, so since you'll only be using one side of it, you can keep the other side as a spare if needed, so I got one of those ordered to try it out probably next weekend.
If anyone wants to check it out, search for it on Amazon, and it's called:
"TWTADE/JQX-62F-2Z Coil Voltage DC 24V 80A DPDT Electronmagnetic Relay,High Power Relay DC 24V"
      $38.85 CAD
If anyone thinks it would be a problem using this one, please let me know, but it looked like the only real difference was that it was 80A instead of 40A, which should be better I figured. I don't think that would make any difference for the DC 24v Coil side, and would only be more durable for the 240vAC side???
Anyway, thanks again for the awesome video that fixed my BestArc Plasma Cutter man!!!

I guess you must know exactly how the pilot arc plasma cutter works to be able to find the problem inside the unit. You are a clever bloke to find the problem and then solve it with a very good fix. Well done and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I bought a Susemse Cut 50 which didn't strike and arc and just had to send it back for a refund. I was very disappointed.

Great video Mnobody83. You're a great trouble shooter & problem solver too. Not many would bother to carefully cut the plastic relay housing to take care of the continuity problem. I'm considering to buy this same model & appreciate you sharing your experience with this Primeweld model. Again thank you. All the best & stay well sir.

    • @valdolandar534
      @valdolandar534 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@MrDIYer the value 40A is very near in the danger, you can use 80A or more with more safety, the value 24v is need, but the amps means the value that suport before burning, this machine is 50A, the relay can get it by accident, 40A is not adecuate.
